If these rumors are true, Intel is so screwed in 2019.

AMD really needs to seal up their GPU's! They can easily win the market share from their CPU line but have really shot themselves in the foot in the GPU market. While the 580 is great value for 1080p gaming, they don't have anything that is a direct competitor to the more popular 1440p line of 1070s (1080p w/ 1070s is popular due to people wanting over 144 frames). Vegas 56 was supposed to be just that but we all saw how that turned out.

If AMD can put out a product which under cuts nvidia's 70 line price, compete on frames, while giving more users the chance to take advantage of Freesync THEN they could seal the deal on forcing Nvidia to make some changes we all want to see. We need either AMD or INTEL to put pressure on Nvidia to drive their prices down.

I'm tired of having my hand forced to Nvidia.

AMD needs to fix their driver software before they focus on the hardware. Every time they release something good, the associated low-level software shoots them in the foot.

Hope it happens with AMD, just bought stock from them so I’m team red. Except for the current gpus, can’t sacrifice frames lol

A large reason why I'll almost always spend more to go with a competing product or just wait until the next cycle.

I ran a 290x for years before switching back to team green with the 1070 Ti and I will say, I had ZERO issues with AMD drivers. I surprisingly thought they were better than Nvidia's. In the early days of PUBG, AMD drivers were better than Nvidia's where all my buddies were having issues and I never did.

AMD still has that sticking point of bad drivers but in the last 5 years or so they really turned that around. I don't see their drivers as any different than Nvidia's anymore.

Their bigger issue today is w/ RAM compatibility w/ CPUs isn't it? It just feels like there's always something w/ AMD.

Their RAM thing been resolved since the beginning of the summer. The only problem they have is their CPUs can't go as fast as Intel's. But now they are using a different style of chip that will allow their CPUs to go just as fast as Intel's. So when those new AMD CPUs come out, Intel will have no choice but to lower their prices. Only a fool would buy a $600 CPU from Intel when you can buy an AMD CPU with more cores and the same speed for half the price. Another thing AMD got going for them is that all their new CPUs are using the existing sockets, so therefore people don't have to go out and buy new motherboards if they just want to uograde from a Ryzen 1 to a Ryzen 3.

Yea GMSS pretty much nailed it, the ram issue was at the very release of Ryzen. They had multiple issue, between capability among manufactures, to issues with reduced ram speeds BUT that was resolved many many months ago.

Next where GMSS nailed it and I'd consider it a big one because this is the first AMD CPU I've run(I've always been intel, this is my first AMD cpu), is socket compatibility. Where you're forced to constantly upgrade your mobo with intel due to the constant changing of sockets. AMD chose to do something I'm way more behind, sticking with one socket for many years. It allows you to simply drop in a new CPU with your already good mobo and instantly have a faster PC without a complete OS wipe. This to me is a huge pro and something I'm surely going to support, because like Nvidia, Intel has held the PC build market by the balls with this tiny (but massive) issue.

AMD has jumped out an address many concerns PC builders have faced. They have faced the unfortunate "stereotyping" of "poor drivers", "poor ram support", "cheap cpu's so they must be worse than intel", but across the board they have made tremendous strides.

If there is any areas they have to resolve, it's these.

                      1) Their GPU's HAVE to get better at power consumption. They have struggle for years now with GPU's that are pulling extremely high wattage.

                      2) They CPU speeds need to improve in the single core area badly, their only knock vs Intel as of recently has been their single core performance and it matters in most games. While more games are utilizing multiple cores, they still need to produce a CPU out putting near 5.0ghz in single core to truly end intel's "gaming" reign.

Any of y'all use GOG Galaxy? I'm slowly migrating over to GoG and starting to really love it. The community features are lacking, but I'm sure they'll come along as the launcher gets more usage.

I have no problem installing more launchers, I think I've got 4 of them pinned to my taskbar (Steam, Origin, Epic and Uplay) but I've yet to install GoG yet, haven't had a reason to.

I love GOG for older games because they're guaranteed to work on Win 7/10. Going back to play Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri and Theme Hospital makes for a great time.
