After searching around online, I saw it was actually not that uncommon of a bug with nVidia. The solution was simple, unplug the monitor for a couple of minutes, then plug it back in and it should be able to be activated again as part of your display. I unplugged it, gave it 2-3 minutes, then plugged it in and tried to select it in the control panel. No luck. However, I was able to just use the Windows Display Settings to activate the display and now it is all working like usual.

Only posting this in case anyone else here ever comes across a monitor randomly not being activated and being unable to activate it. I don't know what causes the issue, but it was something that occurs frequently enough to be able to find a solution for it on the nVidia forums rather quickly.
I had a similar issue with my Samsung + AOC setup. If I turned the AOC off before the samsung then when powering on my PC the AOC would never get recognized. Only solution was to turn PC off, unplug AOC from the power cord for a couple min THEN plugging it back in before powering on the system. If I turned the samsung off first then the AOC it would power back on everytime with all monitors recognized. I now moved to the Dell 1440p and this issue doesn't occur any more.

I never found a solution but powering off in that order.

That is really odd, haha. Fortunately I haven't had the issue repeat itself. It wasn't something that seemed to happen with great frequency, but it was clearly not unheard based off of the search results I saw. I honestly thought that it may have been a faulty cable at first, but when it was showing up in the Control Panel I thought differently. I'm just glad it was a relatively easy fix and a bug that seems to happen randomly soon after updating drivers instead of being any hardware issues.

Hey guys I am a noob when it comes to computers but am looking into joining the PC gaming world. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on a prebuilt computer and monitor? I am looking at spending no more than $2,000 total. The games I plan on playing are Nascar Racing Season 2003, maybe iracing, maybe Madden. If I enjoy the experience I may dive into more games.

Not saying you absolutely need to get this, but I bought the previous version of the following PC. It was also on sale at the time for like $600 instead of the $800 this costs. But maybe that's a start.

What's the difference between 1660 and 1660TI? I see it is only a $50 difference.

GeForce GTX 1660 and GTX 1660 Ti are mid-range graphics cards in the new GTX 16 series from Nvidia. These are the most exciting graphics cards in the market today, because of their competitive pricing and amazing performance. However, the main area of concern is that the performance and price difference between these graphics cards is not that huge, and this has raised quite a bit of confusion among gamers and buyers.

TI cards are going to be the better models. By how much it varies. They will have faster memory speeds more often than not and potentially high clocks. They also offer better overclocking capabilities if you ever get into that down the road.

That is good to know. Any thoughts on monitors? I see things mention Gsync and what not but I do not know how important that is. Especially since I'm not playing shooting games.

I'd only recommend a GSync monitor to enthusiasts really. If you are the type of person that doesn't really focus on FPS and find 60 to be more than smooth enough then don't even think about going with a GSync monitor. Also, if you are only going with a 1660 card, ti or not, then I don't think it'd be worth it to look into GSync monitors. I'd really only recommend a GSync monitor to someone who plays with a rig powerful enough to get them a lot higher than 60fps consistently in the games they play and if they are sensitive to stuttering or screen tearing. I have one that I linked 10 or so posts ago that I absolutely love, but I am using a 1070ti as my GPU at 1440p and most games I play I am getting 90+ fps and I absolutely loathe screen tearing so it made sense for me to get it. I'd only recommend it to someone who really wants a GSync monitor and knows why they want it. For someone getting into PC gaming like you are I see no need for you to get one, especially if you are just going to get a 1660 to get into the scene.

Goodness. This is what happens when you have kids. I didn't even finish my thought.

I was showing that PC as a way to say you don't need to spend a crazy amount of dollars to get a machine that runs current games at the highest quality.

I'm getting great performance from that machine. Very happy with it. The only issue I've run into is I can't connect a game controller to it after turning it on. I always end up with some crash.

But if I restart or power on with the USB already inserted, no crashes. I don't get why it happens but it hasn't been a major issue for me.

Use PayPal Sky. (I know it’s not what you asked but that’s the route I took since I didn’t wanna use a CC)

Also anyone needing a monitor that can’t afford an IPS..

Dell S2719DGF is on sale for $299.99. 27” 1440p 155hz monitor. Yeah, it’s a TN panel and has some issues (No gamma control is the big one) but I just got it a week or so ago and it’s the best monitor I’ve ever had. The colors (both mine and professional reviews opinions) are some of the best I’ve ever seen on a TN panel. It works with Gsync Compatible - absolutely no tearing, stuttering, etc. I know it’s not as good as the real gsync monitors (never played on one so couldn’t see how much better as mine is absolutely butter) but if you’re like me and can’t spend more than $300 - you would be hard to find a better monitor IMO.

Same monitor I have and love it, just don't use the DP cables that come with it. They are low quality and the display will go black occasionally because of the low grade cables. I got a better DP cable and experience no more issues.

Mine only included HDMI cable lol. I did buy a DisplayPort cable though. I was afraid I’d regret not being able to afford one of the $500+ ones but I sure don’t have an ounce of regret. Truly, I never knew how bad my other monitor was.
