There was a post or two in the game thread, but I'm not sure if anybody here got it yet. Initial impressions/reviews weren't great.

Yeah I kinda heard that. Skeptical spending $50 on steam for a buggy game.

Got my Index Saturday. So far only about 1 hr using it.

The VIVE was nice but man the Index is clearer as well as a better FOV.
Having built in headset is also a welcomed change.

Still haven't messed with many visual setting but will dig deep starting Wednesday night.

Do you need a lot of room for it? My office is pretty small but I'd love to get VR for Squadrons.

Depends on if you want room scale or not.
You can set it up for room scale or seated position.
My room scale settings is about 6. x 6' space...
                  They recommend 6.5ft x 5ft

There's a few games that I play in room scale (and even those I rarely move more that 2 to 3 feet in any direction)
but X-Plane (Soon MS Flight Sim) and my racing games are all seated at desk.

I set mine up as room scale but my seated position is still seen by the base stations so good for either.

                    Same here.

Death Stranding is now on my radar, though. Still want to grab Destroy All Humans, but have a hard time biting at $30.

I want a "new" game and Ghost of Tsushima is calling loud, but I don't really want to divert time from the PC yet when I just built it lol.

When I get this itch I usually re-up Ubisoft Plus and dive into one of their games I haven't gotten to. Currently doing that with AC: Odyssey.

I'm nearing the end of Arkham City and working on my first region in Far Cry 5. Switched up XCOM for some Planet Coaster, but need to get back and finish the story.

The only thing I'm really waiting for Cyberpunk at this point. Squadrons is more of a Christmas request with flight-stick controller.

On the VR front - if I just want to sit in my chair and still use the stick to move - that's cool? Initially I'm more interested in experiencing it for driving games, but I can see how FPS would be a lot of fun, too.

Yes.. Many (if not all) the games have a move and or teleport option using the VR controllers stick or touch pad.
Like in the game Arizona Sunshine I use the teleport option to move around.. etc..and just duck or lean around corners with body..

Some games I use the smooth move but at times , depending on the game, I get a tad nauseated after a while. I've never gotten that way with teleport mode.
You can also use a controller, if supported, on games also.

I was going to pull the trigger on it the other day to see how my experience was, but I ended up holding off. The game save bugs, more than any of the other many ones reported, really scare me. I will say that a friend of mine has been playing since Friday, and while his initial experience was pretty rocky; it has drastically improved since then. He did have to change around some settings, and I'm still pretty sure some things like the audio sync are still there, but the game itself is running mostly smooth for him.

Dirt Rally 2.0 is hard, but it is certainly fun. Maybe like a Dark Souls of racing haha.
