I use a credit card and don't even think twice about it. My card have protection built in and the banks respond quickly to events. I'm ok with that.

I had my one of my cards on psn last year until someone got access to my account and I had to call my bank to cancel that card and send me a new one. I understand people not being worried because they have protection from their banks, but the headache of calling, changing the info on other accounts you used to pay with that card and waiting for a new card is not worth it to me. I rather use PayPal now.

PSN for PS4 still not up and running properly as of this post (here in Los Angeles).

I can go to live from playstation and watch others play online however...

Yup..same here. Still down here in Colorado. This blows. Was planning on getting in on some GTA mayhem with some OSer's on Christmas day. Well, atleast this gives me time to shovel the snow out of my driveway. Hoping it is all good later on today.

Completely agree.

But man that seems like a great way to put some pressure on Sony to do something like that. Granted Sony would ever be pressured into something like that because of a random post on a random website.

Regardless, there's some major PR repair that needs to happen and something like this would be a great start

From what I've gathered, considering I have very little knowledge on these types of attacks other than that they are basically overloading servers, there's basically no way to REALLY prevent this is there?

So yeah, if that's the truth, if these guys keep to their word, it seems like they could just keep the networks down as long as they please.
