Seems to clear up the question from Icicle, from earlier.

I saw someone mention it might record 720p 60fps also. Waiting to see if there is any truth to that.

So do I splurge on an HDR capable 4K tv now? Or enjoy the better resolution and get the better tv next year when the Scorpio comes out? A third factor for me is I much rather game on a 27" monitor because of how many FPS games I play online. Do I grab a 4K monitor with HDR capabilities? They're very hard to come by right now.

In your case, if you have the financial means to do so, I'd look into the Sony's that people on here are raving about. They're well priced and they'll get you the best bang for the buck. If money is not an issue, getting one of the Samsung's with the 20ish ms input lag times in HDR mode would be where I begin and end my search.

        they are(the sonys i mean) The sony x850D is 1500,the sony x750D is 1300
then theres the vizio m65d0at 1250 and the samsung is the priciest at 1700.

All those sets minus say playng them ina dark room(where the sonys arent that great due to having more greyish tones than black and thats true of sony in genral as there ps2 ps3 always outputted very blandly)

The vizio ive seen video of on youtube and looks GOOD and then the samsung is just rated very well and many ppl here have it BUt its motion blur is NOT good(any way you slice it)

All those sets are the 65 inch ones

        I have 55 now

Its ease to say get the best but thens theres the side of me that says i want good motion blur and those sets are not the samsung

I have a non HDR 4K. I paid a little less than $600 for a 55 inch LG. I would never pay some of these HDR prices. Not worth it.

            and thats my other thinking

Im happy with what ive got, but my decision might be more made up after i see what the pro does with my tv. if the pro does what nvidia does with its supersampling ill very happy and content.

if the pro nerfs alot of games into using the Normal cpu of the ps4 and not the pro one then i'll either get rid of the pro altogether or get a new tv.

also i recently got burned on the note 7 so me making purchases with electronics isnt a fun one right now

Only thing i noticed with hdr and maybe this is a bad joke or whatever but ill say this

Ive calibrated my set to kind of mimic realistic tones which hdr kind of does.

even thogh its not the same you CAN adjust tv settings in way to make the image look better.

I makes sliders for games to make game look more realistic and having a art and tech background i kind of can calibrate to the point of realism somewhat

So you're claim about HDR being "so so" or not that important IS kind of true

Though HAVING HDR would then negate any "workaround tweaks" to get image quality amazing

The absolute best 4K HDR tvs out there right now seem to be the LG OLEDs. They have horrible input lag (you don't play online, shouldn't be a big deal unless you play alot of The Show offline) and they are extremely pricey but picture quality is unmatched.

You should wait 6 months and see what Pro does with 1080p games going forward and make your decision then, IMO.

                  Thats what im thinking.

I cant begin to tell you how many games im going to be testing once i get the machine

I have about 7 digital download games i have to re download as well

THAT alone minus a new tv will keep me busy lol

I think just getting thru "having a pro' and seeing what it can do (which im hoping it acts ALOT like a nvidia graphics card in regard to super sampling)

please do not rate Samsung motion blur as not good when you have no idea. Samsung is the best hdtv for 4k HDR gaming period, nobody can dispute that because they offer the best input lag numbers and best brightness which is the key to hdr

if you want best for movies buy an oled but those others you mention like sony look good but input lag not as good or brightness same for OLED

believe me that if you already have a 4k set you will see tons improvement on your PRO....HDR in games not as impressive as movies

I have the Sony X800D 43" 4K HDR TV with 10 bit color depth and wide color gamut. It cost $650 new plus tax at Best Buy back in September. Price is currently the same. The Samsung KS8000 55" is currently $1200 at Best Buy but was $1000 just yesterday as my friend was debating to buy it or not but decided to wait until Black Friday and while he was all hung up on the KS8000, he's going to buy the Sony X800D 43" that I have because it's basically half the price and spec/quality wise, both are pretty close to each other. I have seen rtings.com rate the Sony X800D as the best in the second tier but have also seen 4K.com rate it almost equally to the KS8000 so it all varies but the difference isn't big enough to spend the extra money especially if you don't have it.

I also went with the Sony X800D for other reasons as well. First, I prefer the stand for the Sony TV compared to the Samsung TV and second, I hate that connect one box which while rare can also burn out and it costs $200 new to replace. Third, buying the Samsung KS8000 would have required me to buy a bigger TV stand which would have increased the cost. Fourth, with Sony's Z9 TV's coming out next year and CES in January, I didn't want to go all out now since I know that there's a chance I end up getting a higher end TV next year and would then sell my Sony X800D TV.

Worse case scenario, I stay with the Sony X800D which is perfectly fine by me because games like Forza Horizon 3 and Gears of War 4 looked great on the TV and even a small indie like Ori and the Blind Forest looked great with HDR and was upscaled to 4K.

With the PS4 PRO and my TV, I can't wait. My biggest decision is which game of the following - Battlefield 1, Titanfall 2 and COD: IW - to play first. I'm leaning towards Titanfall 2 first, BF1 second and COD third.

If you can afford it and for the price, you can't go wrong with the Sony X800D. Just stay with the 43" because the 49" has an IPS panel which you should stay away from and it has a power brick as well.

Tough call. All three have great, great single player experiences.

I own all three, and have finished BF1 and TF2 (only a little bit into CoD). I would recommend going TF2 first. It is a short, but amazing experience and should be a great way to break in your new Pro. You can't go wrong with any one, though. You will probably end up spending more raw hours in the other two campaigns.

Actually the Z9D is already out, came out in August.
