Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
Realized going through the Library App on my Pro I have 176 games purchased but only one with Pro capabilities, that being the Last of Us. So I quickly grabbed the BF1 and TF2 Deluxe Double Pack. After work I'll look into Shadow of Mordor.
The general consensus after that seems to be NBA 2K17 and Ratchet?
Paragon is a free download and it's been given a nice facelift with Pro as well but I don't know if you like MOBAs
I need to get me some NBA 2k!"Successful people do not celebrate in the adversity or misfortune of others."

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
Wrote some more thoughts in my blog regarding PS4 Pro and 1080p, here is the new post
Part of it I would like to bring in here:
What surprises me most so far is that not every game looks better at 1080p. Some games look much better at 1080p (TF2, Paragon, Ratchet and Clank, Shador of Mordor), some games look just a little bit better (UC4, BF1, Dishonored 2, ROTTR), but some games don't look better at all and are identical to vanilla PS4 (like CoD:IW and MWR, Deus Ex).
Why is that? I thought that every Pro game at 1080p would at least get downsampling as the Pro would render the same image 4k displays get, but just downsample it to 1080p? Is this not the case? Do some games just handle the downsampling better than others? The boost that TF2 gives at 1080p is substantial, while in CoD:IW it is barely noticeable....
Also, will all devs, or most devs, moving forward provide options like inFamous and ROTTR have for 1080p displays in regards to choosing between increased frame rate(which feels GREAT in both inFamous and ROTTR) or increased resolution (which provides a minor bump at 1080p in both ROTTR and inFamous, the frame rate mode probably provides more substantial improvements in these games)
Brought over a lot more screens and vids to my PC but haven't uploaded them all yet. Not sure I will, not sure anyone really cares about my experience anyway since it may just be placebo to them or their friends may be telling them something different anyway , which I understand"Successful people do not celebrate in the adversity or misfortune of others."

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
Its hard to even imagine what 2k is going to look like on ps5. I mean this already looks pretty darn real and that is with watching it in only 1080p on a 1080 computer not in 4k and with a computer with out the HDR to add to it and being that it is on the computer the video is compressed. Yet it still looks amazing.
Oh I see yeah I thought when I went to order the item and had to select a day that I was going to have to select a time to.Comment

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
It just makes me wonder if this will happen as well, maybe like there are plans for this in the next year or two.
Somebody stated that consoles will start to be more and more like PC's as time goes on, and that somewhat concerns me. Is there going to be a PS5? Will it be "next-generation," or will it be small upgrades at a time? I'm not willing to upgrade to every machine they make unless I can spend six quality years with the one I already own, or I plan on investing in a new machine as is.
So when does the next PlayStation console release after the Pro? And when it does, will it be able to play my old PS4 games? I assume it will have the UHD BD drive, so maybe I skip out on the Pro. But will it come out sooner rather than later (when I do get a 4K TV)? Only time will tell on that one.
It's likely that the next big television I get will be a Samsung QLED if all goes well with their release of one, but that's still not for a couple of years. Until then, I may consider getting a 4K monitor, and that's when I can slowly start to work out my 4K gaming/movie watching plans. Don't know how I can do both of those with the Pro currently, though. I still think if they were going 4K, they should have fully-committed. Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
Then they messed up by not putting in a 4K UHD BD player.
If they wanted me to go 4K with them (and I probably would have, as that was the tipping point), that certainly would have enticed me. I don't know what the hell they were thinking saying, "Yeah, we're going to cater to 4K owners by leaving the new disc format off our brand new machine."
This is not a 4K console. We still haven't even achieved 1080p/60 FPS despite initial PS4 pre-release spec claims. It's unbelievable that developers alienate the 90% 1080p television ownership crowd by not providing an option for greater framerate alongside their 4K option. I also can't believe the number of 4K owners out there who always showed me charts of telling me I wouldn't be able to discern 1080p from 720p on my own screen, and they'll be telling me the same thing when 8K becomes available.
I'm stating this as a non-owner of the Pro or a 4K TV, so of course I'm speaking bitterly towards what it has to offer. But my bitterness is exactly why I don't own it as well. I'm not blaming Sony, mind you... it's up to the developers, I get that entirely. I don't like the idea of Sony putting a "forwards thinking" versus "backwards thinking" to its marketing, though. It'll just spin towards developers to not provide more options in the future. Of course, we will see what this machine does for future titles, and that might possibly be my tipping point.
Until then, it's certainly unbelievable they didn't add a UHD BD drive to this.
I was baffled at first at the idea of Sony not putting a 4K blu-ray drive into the pro. It was a very silly decision on their part. I then thought about one thing. How many blu-rays have I bought since owning the OG PS4 and the answer is zero. I don't buy blu-rays. I'm not justifying it but I didn't buy 1 blu-ray during my PS3 era either. Every blu-ray I saw on my PS3 or even PS4 was a rental. So far 2 sports games are running natively in 4K 60fps so I wouldn't say it's not a 4K console. I agree that Sony made a big mistake by not including a 4K blu ray drive on the pro especially when even the Xbox slim has one. I do personally believe 1080p has ran its course and many tv manufacturers are pushing 4K HDR more than ever. As a company you have to understand why Sony is marketing 4K HDR over 1080p. Just look at how even all streaming devices like amazon fire tv, Roku, etc are all promoting 4K on their devices. Even Netflix is moving towards that direction and many streaming services are moving that direction. I even saw directv promoting sports in 4K like the masters and many MLB teams are broadcasting in 4K. For them to promote the pro as a 1080 console would've been them not moving forward.

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
Sorry for me asking this question again, but I thought about it while typing out the below post... any news on how Remote Play is running on Pro compared to the original PS4?

Every blu-ray I saw on my PS3 or even PS4 was a rental.
My plan for upgrading Blu's that I already own will be to buy the ones that run in native 4K. It'll be far too costly to upgrade the rest. But shoot, what says an 8K doesn't come out in the next four years? Ay, technology and money are a real hoot!
What also really gets me is that I could probably buy like 30-40 more Blu-ray titles and still not spend as much as I would on a Pro. It gives me no real incentive to go out and get one. And I know you're not trying to sell it to me, but rather you're just selling me on the idea that the moves they made for gaming purposes were the right ones. We'll see if that's true when the Scorpio comes out, because at least at that time we'll have enough background on how developers supported the Pro.
In the end it's about making gamers happy, and I think that Pro buyers with 4K television sets are not very disappointed whatsoever, while 1080p TV owners are thankful they are not shelling too much out of their wallets if they already own a PS4.
So far 2 sports games are running natively in 4K 60fps so I wouldn't say it's not a 4K console. I'm even further surprised that some forum members on here can't see 60 FPS improvements over 30 FPS. As I mentioned earlier, it's not exactly something you have to A/B with and see the comparison, as the difference is tremendous. Yet, they can see the 4K differences. I'm not saying they're negligible, but 1440p with upscaling is also a viable option.
I think the biggest word there is "option." The folks who made ROTTR had no problem providing options for everybody. Can they do 2160p/60 FPS? Unfortunately, no. The games that can, however, probably look and play drop-dead gorgeous; nearly enough to go out this BF and get a brand new 4K set alongside the Pro. What would really entice someone like me to just throw my money at them? There will be a PS5 for sure, this is not the last console for sony at all
PS5 if I had to guess will be determined on how the Scorpio does
But my guess is that the PS5 will not come out until 2020 and people who claim early are delusional and do not understand how business works
No chance Sony will release a PS5 before that when the Pro is basically coming out going into 2017 and if some PS4 vanilla fans were upset at the PRO they will abandoned Sony if in 5 or 6 year span they released 3 consoles
Vanilla
PRO
PS5
The PRO is an awesome console and will get tons of great games looking incredible. Many in 1440p and 1800p and some in native 4K...
I am good with those resolutions for 400 dollars
MS fans who think that Scorpio is going to have all games native 4K are crazy as well
MS will have all their first party titles made on pc and ported to scorpio via the UWP
Games from third party companies are not going to make a native 4K game and put a 1440p PRO version....Not happening as the install base is much bigger on ps4
Third party games will be all around 1440p and 1800p on both consoles
Call it fair or not fair but is how business is ran....
There is no need for people to get a 4K tv for the PRO...Get a 4K monitor or even a 1440p monitor and you will get incredible gains over vanilla ps4
Yea HDR is nice but is not a reason to go out and spend tons on a big tv when a 4K monitor is more then enough to get substantial gains and no input lag on PRoComment

I am worried though
two games which i thought would have the SAME treatment AS NBA 2k17(i mention 2k17 because honestly for me in my opinion its the gold standard currently for PRO downsampling and running at 60fps on 1080p tvs)
those games are FF15 and WD2.
FF15 is now said to have 2 patches..the first one at launch is 4k support...great... the second? a 1080p diplay at 60fps but again its a second patch and who knows when that will be available to us so im holding off with that game completely
wd2's i took the plunge on digital pre order so now im stuck no word if us 1080p owners will see the diff
early vid of 1080p ps4 pro does show it to be decent but again with video compressing etc im just not sure
Sony should have not made 2 separate gpus but figured out a way that it just does the down scaling automaticallyLast edited by Tomba; 11-12-2016, 01:28 PM.Brand New Tomba Slider sets ready for Next Gen Versions of NBA,Madden and Fifa Stay Tuned...Comment

Is not a 4K console because it has no UHD drive and most of the games this machine will produce will not be native 4K
If Sony was confident it would they would not have given us a college lesson on checkerboard rendering...And that is fine as I am good with 1440p and 1800p and native 4KComment

i think your insight has been welcomed here. I find it helpful as well and its actually making me NOT buy certain games that you did(which means you took one for the community) and i respect that

Sony should have not made 2 separate gpus but figured out a way that it just does the down scaling automatically
And also Sony did not advertise the PRO much because they wanted to sneak it up under the nose of their close to 50 million owners
MS should not care who they upset as they needed to rebrand their console and bring power to the table...Many of their close to 20 million owners are welcoming this much more then Sony fans are for the PROComment
