What matters to companies is profits and that is how it should be. There is absolutely, positively, nothing wrong with that because that is what a good company does is focus on profit. This ensures that they can continue on to make more games.
Some people believe that sometimes companies get too greedy, and I get that. However, if that is the case then its up to us gamers to vote with our wallets, and the market will then correct itself. If a company receives backlash for something like loot boxes for example then that will go away or change. as we have seen recently in Star Wars BF and Forza.
The bottom line is that the market will always ensure that the consumer gets what they deserve, be it good or bad.
The incessant complaining about companies "just being in it for the profit" is a bit amusing to me because...duh, of course they are. Just the same as most of us just go to work every day for the paycheck.
