    My List this year

    Sleeping Dogs - $7.00
    Dead Space 3 (At Launch) - $23.00
    Tomb Raider (Preordered) - $32.00
    ARMA 3 (Preordered) - $32.00

All PC purchases and guess what geeksta "just as much horse power". Consoles are screwing the casual's. There is ZERO reason digital downloads on the consoles should still be at "disk based pricing".

This little list of what I bought recently adds up to $94 bucks, that is little more than ONE game on consoles. Instead I get FOUR high profile games for a fraction of the cost. Now get this, 1) With higher frame rate 2) With higher resolutions and 3) Higher graphic fidelity.

You current launch console cost of these four would be $240. That is $146 bucks I saved. So I can play more of the same games you play, yet for far cheaper.

I highly doubt games go up, BUT if they do. You can count me out the consoles, I'll just stay PC all the way.

This is why I believe pc gaming , iPhones, androids etc.. Are competition for consoles the price of games .

Even though I already played both games I remember buying both Arkham games and all DLC for like $20 on Steam... can't beat that. The sales at times are insane on PC. Not to mention the mods.

PES 13 - $20 VS PES 13 on console for $60 and that doesn't include the crazy PC mods that makes PES look like a completely different game.

As Steam and Origin make their app more user friendly for HDTV it becomes more difficult to justify a console.

Very much so Alt, if they threw EA football back on PC I honestly would not get a console.

Here is what I would like to see (maybe not everyone) on consoles moving forward..

Digital store for PS4 and Xbox like steam and allow other sites such as GMG and stuff to sell keys for the service like they do for steam.

Make the prices like steam and have sales like steam does.

But most important before all digital, INCREASE the space of the ps4 and xbox. 120gb hard drive would not suffice honestly if you are required to use a service such as steam.

As for portable gaming such as phones or tablets goes, whens the last time you heard some say, "Oh man, this new game comes out tomorrow for my phone, I'm downloading it day 1!" Portables are not a threat to console gaming. The only threat is this new gaming PC "steam box" type trend starting to grow, as well as, well, PC's. I'm sorry, but I cannot take someone seriously when they say a iPad is a threat to a serious console gamer.

Look at it from a mainstream not just hardcore gaming . Why do u think all those social aspects are being added to the console? It's not just about gaming its about media/entertainment as a whole. If the games are 70$ I personally won't be buying games that much .

I'm not a hardcore gamer though . I wouldn't even consider a console if it wasn't for NBA 2k. My iPad is entertaining enough

Being a member here on OS, you know that the hardcore eventually becomes ignored for the mainstream/pop culture.

If money can be made from portable/mobile games, and that money is more than console gaming, then the shift is inevitable.

The only part of console gaming that portables will hurt is puzzle/strategy type games that are very basic. Playing Madden on an iPad is terrible. Yes, there are some very fun games for phones or tablets, but I would never consider buying a game for a phone over a console.

The problem is, mobile games are at an average of what, 0.99-4.99? To make as much money as one console game, they will have to sell 15 copies to the one console copy, and that's a 4.99 mobile game. From a social aspect, mobile games are nice, but it's not important to me. Mobile game prices will have to go up to be a real threat, which will create the same problem that a 70$ console game may cause.

So u are saying that in mainstream society that apple , androids, pc, are no match for ps4 or have big impact on sales?

15:1 is probably the definition of mainstream:hardcore.

Those $1 games sell a lot of copies and that is only going up.

There's an entire untapped gaming market that is just being discovered. Nintendo found some of it with the Wii and more have shown their faces through social media.

I agree with you that it isn't a threat right now but I do think you're undervaluing the potential growth.

I really think that when some parents but consoles they ask iPad or ps3?

You know they are completely different but mainstream sees them both as similar . Ps2 days everyone females , old , young had a ps2. It's getting like that with an iPad. I'm sure ps4 will rock in the market but ...

To be honest, adults are more excited about iPads than the younger generation. Yes, a lot of kids have iPads, but the majority of the tablets we send out the door, it's intended for the adults rather than children. Also, the majority of the time, the parents say the kids have a game system or Vita/3ds. This is only one demographic, but it's all I have. Kids don't want to play knock off shooters, they want to play Call of Duty. I understand when you guys say these portables are a good way to make money, but this to me is like saying Insignia is a threat to Samsung because they're cheap and sell a lot. Handhelds may become a huge part of gaming in the future, but I can never see the industry to the point where I'm texting friends telling them to get on their iPad to play a game in co-op.

They all compete for disposable income, is why the other platforms threaten and influence trends with console gaming. People have more to do and spend their money on.

You're not the one that's gonna change. And people will still want to play CoD on their PS6 or whatever.

It's the market that isn't playing those games. The untapped market that's growing larger and does not care about CoD. That number is going to be bigger.
