Don't think you'll have to worry about it, PVarck. I think sports will still be multiplatform, but the bigger non-annual projects will be where the exclusives come from. AAA Shooters, adventure games, etc. are what will have the exclusivity limits on them. I think mestevo is right in how the exclusives will operate for the most part.

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
I know how the deal with the Show and 2K works.
But when you say you are sure another company could purchase a license for multi-platform games, (NFL) with Madden it wouldn't matter if they re-up with an exclusive deal with the NFL. Xbox would be the only system you could play Madden on. This is what scares the hell out of me. I could totally see this kind of stuff happening next gen. I have a feeling we are in for a bunch of bureaucratic BS, and gamers will be the ones who suffer.
I don't want to buy both systems. At least not for a couple years into the cycle. But I have to play The Show and Madden.
A: the NFL/NBA/NHL would go ape **** at lost money
B: I think they have to do xbox/ps becuase their contract says so...Comment

Sony is able to make a game because 2K only was able to procure a 3rd party license.
MSFT purchased High Heat and did nothing with it. They could have if they wanted to for the XBox only.
Nintendo could have made a first party one as well.
Sony even if they wanted to, could not release on a 3rd party since 2K had that license. Not that they would anyhow. That is like Nintendo releasing Mario Kart on the Playstation. Common sense. And something tells me neither of these companies have licenses to each others competitive systems.
EA would not be exclusive for sports games, etc. If anything, timed for most others with more DLC fluff.
Ironic however that Peter Moore was with MSFT before EA, and now this rumor mill.
And this really wasn't a E3 type reveal. There were plenty of other developers/publishers not on the list yet, which you will see on it come E3, when the console is actually shown.Last edited by EnigmaNemesis; 04-30-2013, 07:49 PM.Ⓥ Boston Red Sox | Miami DolphinsComment

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
Remember when Peter Moore (then with MS) came out with the GTA tattoo and many speculated what that meant...only to hear him talk about DLC and special release dates? MS has always used these types of pseudo exclusives to try and imply to the consumer that they have some type of upperhand.
I see them doing the same tired routine this go around, talking about DLC specs and perks with getting and EA game on Xbox.
In order for EA to be going all-exclusive to MS, there would have to be a huge amount of money being given to them by MS, or MS is going to announce they are buying EA...neither of which I see happening.Being kind, one to another, never disappoints.Comment

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
I'm not sure why so many people are worried about losing Madden. Like others have said, if EA goes exclusive to MSFT, another company would be able to develop for both platforms, most likely 2k, and people have been wanting this forever. There really hasn't been any good EA Sports games this generation besides FIFA and NHL. I could care less about EA Sports, but EA for Battlefield is really all I care about, but Battlefield has been said to be coming to PS4. Have EA Sports MSFT, I don't care. Maybe SCEA would make a football and basketball game again then, which is exciting just thinking about it.Comment

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
It may be one of those things where the NFL doesn't see a loss in that. Madden would probably sell decently on the Wii U, but there's a far larger loss in not making it for one of the biggest consoles, if not the frontrunner for the next-gen console race. I do not see EA doing this either way, they're all about money, and unless MSFT gives them a ton of money, they won't do anything like this. They're like Activision, $ is everything. When rumors about Ghosts being Xbox exclusive it was laughable. There's no way EA would pass up money, it's not in their nature. They've taken our money for years now, why stop?Comment

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
With pages upon pages of people in multiple threads clamoring for 'just give us games', I'm not sure I'd call the PS4 the frontrunner before not even knowing what MS is bringing to the table, and especially in the context of maybe having fewer multi-platform games and exclusive content for the follow ups of the most popular titles of the previous generation.
The answer to 'what console do I get' has long been 'the one more of your friends have'. Giving the most popular (and profitable) segment in gaming history a reason to go one console over the other from the outset can't really be discounted.
As to the NFL, I'd think they probably have their money, it's up to EA to recoup it. We really have no idea what that contract looks like, I didn't expect them to be able to opt out of being able to make a game for a significant system. But since Madden on the other consoles has probably outsold actual Wii Us perhaps that gives them an out. It clearly didn't sell well, as evidenced by the 42 people observed online on an NFL Sunday in December, with only a few hundred thousand Wii Us sold since there's little reason to expect it to do any better.
If the NFL is getting royalties or something on units sold, subsidizing some portion theoretical lost Madden PS4 sales the first couple of years would probably be a relatively minor marketing cost in the grand scheme of things for MS. I don't see it happening though.Comment

We don't even know what the PS4 looks like. Its not like their reveal was very impressive. If anything, they may have set themselves up here if MS has a very thorough reveal with an actual visible console.Being kind, one to another, never disappoints.Comment

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
Microsoft is going to be revealing what the new system will do features wise, in terms of more than gaming. According to many, they aren't in a great position moving forward. If they decide to focus more on extras, like Kinect and nonsense like that, I will pass easily. I want a gaming machine, not a movement tracker.Comment

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
Sony hardly showed anything so far. They showed their version of Kinect, their typical tech demo and a couple games. They also focused on extras like share etc...
I still need a lot more info from both companies.Joshua:
