Too many pages to read for everyone's consensus on the PS4, but if MS is going to require a sub or always on connection....this PS4 Assassin's Creed 4 video makes a good argument for a PS4 switch for me.

In the series' first foray into a real-world location (Seattle), Cole MacGrath is dead. To deal with this perceived threat, the government has set up the oppressive Department of Unified Protection, and they've placed Seattle on lockdown. As new protagonist Delsin Rowe, players will be given more than enough opportunities to fight the power.
Nice to know which inFamous 2 ending is the official one.

            Game Informer - DS4 prototype hands-on impressions:
            • Some components are still being refined (like the d-pad and overall weight)
            • Deadzone on the analog sticks has been greatly reduced.
            • Both sticks feature stiffer resistance.
            • Thumbs bumping into each other is no longer an issue, the analog sticks are spaced farther apart.
            • Analog sticks have a ridged concave top that prevent your thumbs from slipping off.
            • Stuck with symmetrical design. Writer suggests the asymmetrical design would cause more difficulties to interact with the touchpad without unintentionally bumping into the left stick.
            • Touchpad is multi-touch, replaces start and select buttons.
            • Ridge at the end of the triggers grasps at your fingers instead of letting them slide off.
            • There is a small speaker above the PS button, below the touchpad.
            • Lightbar works in conjunction with the ps4 eye to track your position and adjusts the split screen accordingly.
            • Controller felt comfortable and sturdy.
            • Got input from Bungie (and a bunch of first party studios) for designing the DS4, Bungie really wanted to make it a controller that worked great for FPS games.

PlayStation 4 Marketing Slogan Is "Greatness Awaits"

Sony is going to give PlayStation 4 a big marketing push and the keywords behind it are "Greatness Awaits." Siliconera obtained a leak from a company working on the campaign. The commercial starts off by showing an empty road in a small town. A lone guy walks down the road towards the camera and says, "Who are you not to be great? You, with the imagination of a brilliant child and the powers of an ancient god."
The source that provided this information to us also leaked the PSP "Step Your Game Up" marketing campaign for PSP, which Sony officially unveiled a few months later.

The PS4 will be the first system I buy at launch and probably the last. I have enough and I don't have any other financial responsibilities that I can't take care of.

Really hoping the first batch is bug free, or at least free of major defects.

I completely agree, I think this console is the real deal.. Looks like it will have a much longer life-span as well.

Expect a lot of F2P next-gen according to the Vice President of Epic Games.

"The next-gen consoles are going to be fully embracing the free-to-play and these IAP-type business models," Rein told the audience, "So in case you don't know that I'm putting that out there. Sony and Microsoft are both going heavily in that area."

Zombie Studios Brings Free-To-Play Action To PlayStation 4

When Sony announced the PlayStation 4, the company promised support for a wider range of monetization methods used by modern-day developers. Zombie Studios is the first independent studio to take advantage of Sony's new publishing options with its free-to-play multiplayer shooter, Blacklight: Retribution.

                    Primal Carnage: Genesis

Primal Carnage: Genesis could be described as a survival-FPS, with a mix of action and suspense. While there will be many scenarios through the course of the episodic series where the player will have to shoot down hordes of dinosaurs, this will not be a "run and gun" game where ammo and weapons abound anywhere you look. Stealth and puzzle solving will be required to get past many scenarios where an arsenal of weapons will either be unavailable or ineffective.
There are a lot of advantages to the episodic model. It allows the story to be broken up into pieces and for each piece to end with satisfying cliffhanger events. With every episode we plan to introduce 2-3 major new features that define that each episode, which will make the series feel very dynamic with respect to gameplay. Players won't just feel like they're buying a piece of an unfinished game.

Additionally, by going episodic, we're able to reduce the cost that consumers have pay at any one time and the risk of them regretting paying $60 for a game they got bored with or didn't get around to finishing. We hope this will encourage more players to experience the game for the first time and those consumers who continue on through the series are more likely to be dedicated players. We also plan to take player feedback into account as we develop subsequent episodes. The model gives us the flexibility to make certain changes, such as a mechanic players want to see more or less of, or if there's a dinosaur that the fan base is really clamoring for.
We'd love for players to be able to capture video clips of the terrifying encounters they have and share them immediately over social feeds. We're going to try to put as much [effort] as we can to support many of the new PS4 features for the first episode. But as we're just starting to work with the PS4, some of the new features may not be seen until later episodes in the series.
Primal Carnage: Genesis has been inspired by a range of games including Amnesia (atmosphere and suspense), Dear Escher (visual storytelling, immersive experience, and attention to detail), Far Cry 3 (sandbox style of exploration and action), and Jurassic Park: Trespasser (a great dinosaur title, ahead of its time). Jurassic Park fans and anyone that likes these elements of the above games will definitely enjoy PC: Genesis.

I'm guessing here, but I've always assumed that FTP games make money off of microtransactions.

Yep that and some will be in episodes. So if you want to continue the game you pay a small fee for the next episode etc...

F2P MMO War Thunder coming to PS4

In-development World War 2 tanks-planes-and-ships MMO War Thunder will come to PlayStation 4 this "holiday 2013 season", developer Gaijin Entertainment has announced.

It's a free-to-play game that offers you a wartime roster of 200 historical planes, fleets of warships and an army of trundling tanks to do battle with across vast swathes of terrain.
"Gaijin Entertainment will optimise the potent power of PS4 and its next-generation computer entertainment system to redefine War Thunder's rich gameplay with powerful graphics and speed, intelligent personalisation, deeply integrated social capabilities and innovative cloud options.

"War Thunder will feature stunning lifelike dynamics of real-time flight and precision in its details of planes, tanks and war ships, and intuitive controls thanks to the new game pad DualShock 4. The power of PS4 will allow developers to include improved head-tracking system, easier socialising tools, smart and easy options to record, stream and share homemade gameplay videos and will have full support of PlayStation Cloud."

That's the expectation at least. They'll find other things to charge you for as well, like paint schemes or something.
