    Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion

Will Sony finally move on from that uncomfortable Dual Shock controller and create a better ergonomic design?

The Dual Shock analog sticks especially need to leave right now. There are better ways to engineer robust movement from more nimble sticks. Those pseudotrigger buttons also don't work very well for any game where they need to be held down for long periods of time like in a racing game.

Basically, they just need to do a copy and paste of the 360 controller with a large cross d-pad placed under the now higher up analog stick for easy access.

I may be in the minority, but there isn't much about the DS that I would change. Sure, it could be a bit more comfortable or what have you, but I would much prefer the D-pad and analog sticks to remain where they are. I quite like the symmetry aspect of it. They should definitely make those trigger buttons concave, though.

However, anything else should not be changed for the sake of change. I mean I really, really would not like to see it go the route of the 360 controller. Just not my cup of tea, and we'll have that with Xbox, so people who like that controller so much can just jump ship over there haha.

The problem with your statement is it's based on opinion.

My opinion? The ONLY thing I would change about the current controller is making the triggers concave. Outside of that, I literally like every single thing about the dualshock better than the 360 controller; the buttons, the analog sticks, the d pack, the L1/R1 buttons, the feel and design.

Like Blzer said, mimicking the 360 controller is honestly the last thing I want. Fix the triggers, and this current model is perfect.

        In my opinion of course

IMO The grip area needs to be just a bit thicker.
I prefer the 360 controller though.

Oh, I mean I have those fixes (for all five controllers I've ever owned). I'm just saying that I think Sony should think twice before going the route of a concave controller. Many PS3 owners don't know about the fix, and they're just stuck in this limbo of thinking the controller sucks with its trigger convexity.

Aside from the pdp trigger attachments, what is this secret way you speak of?

                        Ugh. What now?

Surely you don't mean filing them until they're concave, right?

Lol. Well if you do mean the triggers, meh to those. Yah, they are decent, but they sit too high and ultimately aren't comfortable IMO.

Now if you have ANOTHER solution, do tell. Lol.

Yeah, I mean that's a part of why Sony needs to construct these themselves the next time. Maybe tilt them downward slightly and make them the natural trigger so that they are deeper into the controller. Boom. Doesn't need too much modification otherwise.

Then there's the question about the analog sticks. The 360 controllers have concave analog sticks, and PS3 has convex. Low and behold, I actually prefer convex here.
