Might have wanted to move it up to before earnings. This could also be a Vita price cut too if it isn't done by then. Haven't heard that rumored, but it will almost certainly come before the end of the fiscal year.

I really don't think it has to do with the Vita. Sony knows if this isn't a console announcement it is going to be a HUGE disappointment.
Discussing Vita's role alongside a new console and announcing a price decrease would be very relevant to a console release announcement. Would encourage people to potentially buy one now. $199 and x months of PSN+, to get you through the release of PS4, would make it a pretty attractive announcement... rather than just a forward looking presser about the new console.
The point is to give people something to act on right now in the moment and capitalize on the initial excitement
Who knows though, we could get PS4 and 20 minutes of Wonderbook 2.
I just hope Sony has learned that in this economy you can't ask $600 for your next system. $350-$400 seems about right i think.
I'm guessing $399-$499 considering they might be using GDDR5 and a 7 or 8K series AMD GPU. We will know more come E3 because I don't think at this meeting they are going to reveal specs or price.
I'm guessing 5...not gonna get my hopes up for anything lower just to get them shot down.
I didn't run out and buy the PS3 as soon as it went on the market (only when the Show first appeared on it), so I can certainly sit back and wait if it's too high.
