    Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion

For once I would rather just see them add to what they are already doing instead of starting over and trying to reinvent the wheel.

Too much emphasis on graphics and not enough on gameplay. Madden is the perfect example from generation to generation. Few get it right for example: MLB The Show!

I'm very satisfied with what was being shown, I'm very excited and I knew the vita wasn't going anywhere. I knew the vitas possibilities and and it looks here to stay.

Definitely not. It would just be like when the 360 came out. All the other versions of 06 came out in August and the 360 version was a launch title in November.

It sure would be nice to see GTA V on the PS4. That would make for one hell of a launch title.

You can do that with a Vita/PSP and the PS3, of course you can't do much once connected and the PS3's wake on lan is annoying and most likely won't stay asleep, but the option is there. I just don't think they could fit what they wanted the PS3-Vita to be able to do within the system overhead, so they had to wait until PS4.

              Better pics of the controller:

DUALSHOCK®4 features a light bar on the top with three color LEDs that illuminate in various colors. The light bar illuminates to match the color of characters in a game to offer a simpler, more friendly way to identify players, even when playing side by side. The light bar also changes patterns during gameplay to provide useful information to gamers, such as when a character is critically low on health or has taken major damage.
Combined with the Mono Headset that will be bundled with PS4, gamers will also be able to chat with friends playing online, while hearing sound effects from the controller in hand.

The speaker in the controller is just dumb, the one the Wii has was awful and had to be turned all the way down because it was horrible. Nothing like a tinny, mono, low bitrate sound effect to ruin any sort of audio immersion.

i'm a little confused about the ps4 and remote play. i remember reading when the vita came out that remote play would be possible on some ps3 games, but that the resolution won't be as nice and there would be issues with framerate. clearly the ps4 and its games will be much more complex than the ps3, so it wouldn't be able to handle its graphics or framerate?

i'm mainly a MLB The Show player & love the idea of getting next gen gameplay & graphics on my vita, but am wondering if remote playing it on my vita can be any better than this years vita version of the game will be.

and i won't have to purchase vita games anymore, since i can remote play my ps4 games which will be better quality?

I like what I have heard so far, glad to see Sony putting the Gaikai technology to use. Its going to be sweet being able to stream and play PS1, 2, and 3 games! Plus the ability to share a game with a friend and have them jump in and play it also ( Mark Cerny explained that PS4 owners will be able to share their gameplay stream with friends, even giving their peers the ability remotely take control of the game to help them get through a tough spot!).

The Vita isn't doing any graphics processing, it's just acting as a controller and screen, the PS3/4 is doing the actual work. Problem with the PS3 and remote play is that it takes extra processing power to compress video, send it over the network, then process the returning data into controller presses. So when the PS3 tried to send data to the Vita it had to use sloppy video compression and combined with the other overhead it made the experience far from optimal.

The PS4 has an extra processor for sending network data and is designed for compressing/streaming video feeds on the fly, so with that overhead gone the whole setup should run much smoother.

I think it will be using something like thin-client computing. The game will actually run on the PS4/or from the cloud and the Vita will just be used to display and control the game, so the graphics should be pretty close to the way it looks as if you were playing a game on your PS4 at home on your TV.
