Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
I believe the PS2/PS3 both were launched at end of the week... I think.Joshua:

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
Personally, I'm putting my guess in for first week of November, second week latest. With no absolute information on that other than Sony has made all the right decisions thus far and I think release date will be no different.Comment

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
If that date is real, I'm going with what other people have told me with the date of 10/29/13. I'd be thrilled! Would get it before Extra Life and would stream my entire 24 hour marathon putting the PS4 through it's paces.
That's also the release date of Battlefield 4.
Well, my videogame provider (and of all kind of SONY electronic devices) told me about the 1 sku price ($399) almost a month and a half prior E3 ... he recently told me that he would receive preorders a month away from the launch, after a few more Qs, he told me that I could get back to him to request it on september ... so I can relate to those sources not being out of range.
Really looking forward to having it as soon as possible.
Edit:
Just as the above comment said, one can make an educated guess by considering how right have experts been of calling SONY learning from its past mistakes ... pricing the console lower than MS ... and also with intend to launch first.Last edited by ffaacc03; 06-20-2013, 04:08 PM.Comment

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
I think it'll before Nov. 29. I don't know what sources were but most things I read seem to be the thought that it would release before the Xbox by a week or two. And as ExtremeGamer said, I've seen October in some places , but I think November 13-15 would be pretty solid giving it a 1.5 week head start on Xbox and getting in the hands before Thanksgiving holidays and black friday.

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
Sticking with PS4. Price, no required Kinect, and frankly, even though I like the Xbox controller better, I need a change. Plus, baseball!
I saw many people I have gamed with for years flipping back to Xbox after the news yesterday, and I just can't understand it to be honest. If price would have dropped, I would have been very inclined to do the same simply out of staying with what I know, but they didn't. Two of my better friends are also sticking with PS4, and that also seals the deal.
I just don't get the Xbox One love right now. It's great they dropped DRM, but the biggest thing they had going for them was their plan. I didn't fully agree with it, but I never cared about the DRM portion as I've said many times, it was the online check in (also now removed) and the required Kinect. With the removal of their family share, every game disc or otherwise in the cloud, DRM trade in of digital games plan, they are the same as PS4 now. Love or hate their plan, they had one, and they got rid of it after a week of pressure. It's one of the things I hated about the 360, it seemed to evolve and change almost to the point of me hating turning the thing on. The dash got so ridiciously slow that it's a pain to move around in.
So now both systems have similar specs, just one of them costs $100 more because it has a camera required.
We're looking at PS4 being $520 for system, camera and a year of PS+
XBox One comes in at $560 for system, camera and a year of XBox Live.
Microsoft evened the playfield IF, big IF, you care about a camera. If not, well, then it's really no contest and comes down to exclusives.
I'm hoping PSN is as good as Xbox Live has been over the years. Because now these systems will be defined by the games that we play.
Now you will have 3 OS's running on the X1, if you thought the original 360 had slowdown in the dash I can see the same thing happening with time. I have to give props to MSFT for continually updating the dash and evolving it. If it wasn't for MSFT and the 360, where would we be without achievements? I don't care for achievements and trophies like I used to, but they are something nice to have.
From reports it seems like the DS4 is getting mad props for finally correcting some of the issues people had with it while the X1 controller is getting some flack for its triggers and thumbsticks after E3 impressions.Comment

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
I really really want to be a 1 console gamer this gen. Just too much $ feeding both. That fact alone PLUS MLB The Show has the PS4 with a decent lead.
Just need to get over the "Need them all" mentality/sickness.Joshua:

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
For those with the means, this is a really tough mindset to break. I have both and I keep saying "I don't need the PS4 for one game," but that one game is The Show, and it's the gold standard. Everything else looks better on 360 this go around so I justify it that way. I too want to make just one purchase, but given what's happened this go around, I'm guessing that there won't be one clear cut winner on all points, from graphics to exclusives, etcComment

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
I did it this gen. Wasn't entirely easy but learned to block our all PS3 related news/info and I was fine. For me it just became lack of time with 2 kids. So one system just worked easier.Comment

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
Now that MS has ditched their DRM and Log-In Policies, I'll likely pick up an X1 in the distant future. But it will definitely be the distant future as I have no interest in owning both straight out of the gate. The PS4 will be my console of choice. The X1 would be a purchase I made purely for their exclusives like Titanfall, Ryse and etc.Comment

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
MS exclusives just do not appeal to me at all. Titanfall looks fun, but with BF4 I really don't need many other multiplayer options. Plus, if I get real interested I can still pick it up for 360. For me, The Order and Dark Sorcerer trailers made bigger impressions with me than anything MS has shown. Not to mention we haven't even heard/seen anything out of the first party stable of publishers for Sony.
MS just has not connected with me at all with the Xbox One. To me their vision is blurry as **** and I really have little trust or faith in them to "have my back" as a gamer.

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
If there's any question, go PS4
PS3 struggled initially because developers had a tough time developing, or should I say, take advantage of what the PS3 had to offer under the hood. That's why development would be for the xbox and then brought over to PS3 most of the time. YOu saw what it was capable of though with the PS3 exclusives that were just amazing graphics wise.
So with that said, developers have had nothing but EXCELLENT reviews about the ease of developing for the PS4 this go around, and they've been swooning over the specs and power that the PS4 has especially 8GB of DDR5 ram, that was huge to all of them . So there is no doubt that from the get go 3rd party games are going to be top notch on the PS4, and PS4 has developers in their corner.
Indy games are going to be there as well, so there could be a diamond in the rough that just blows everyone away - And it could very well be another sports game for all we know that just has great all around gameplay (and not necessarily the graphics). Think FirePro Wrestling like..
Show, Infamous, Uncharted, etc.. Those speak for themselves to look forward to no doubt - But just the tech alone for PS4 comparitively for $100 less, and the straight forward vision Sony has had from the start with the PS4... Even if I had all the money in the world, I think I'd still only need the PS4 especially at the beginning. After a year or two or three and a drop in price maybe xboxone, but that's only granted that PS4 by that time hasn't kept building on and running with the momentum they've built up.
Go PS4, don't even second guess it. Be a manSpend that extra $500 you'll save on a nice piece of jewelry for your main squeeze lol
