Contact them. Same happened to me. They just lowered the price of the PS4 to reflect the total price before tax.

I tried twice and they weren't budging. What should you say? Who should you speak to?

Remember that Ebay and PayPal have fees. Going by the average of everything I've sold on Ebay, it seems you actually clear about 84% of the winning bid amount. You'd be making around $272 if it sells for $800, which is still nice, just not as nice as what the winning bid makes it seem.

I contacted them via the online chat and explained I placed the order before they started charging tax. I told them originally I wasn't charged tax but now I am. The CS representative simply adjusted the price for me. Same with my game Pre orders. My PS4 was lowered to about $367 and Watch Dogs was lowered to $33 give or take a few cents. I might have the chat transcript saved. I'll see when I get home. All I can say is stress that you made your purchase before the new tax policy went into affect.

I was gonna wait a 4-6 months before jumping into next gen, but I am pretty sold on the PS4 being the winner despite me being primarily a 360 gamer for this gen.

Am I pretty much out of luck at this point for getting a release day console?

I think you just happen to luck out on this one. I've tried multiple times with no luck even tho I placed the order June 10th and paid it off in full.

No way to tell for sure but the word is Sony will have "plenty" of consoles available. I think your chances are very good if you're willing to get out and wait in a line for a bit.

I gotta contact them again about my game Pre orders. Its like 3 different release dates through all the games I Pre ordered. I'm just curious about when the first one ships am I charged for the entire order or just that game. COD Ghost scheduled to be delivered November 5th. But then Watchdogs and Madden and BF4 is the 12th, Live and 2K is the 19th although 2K will get changed once they update it. BTW I'm not getting all these games lol 4 of them at the most.
