    Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion

Picked up my DS4 and PS Eye today.

I am in love with the DS4. I was primarily a 360 player this gen although owned both consoles but didn't like the DS3.

The DS4 is so comfortable to hold. I was worried cause I don't like the parallel sticks but after holding using the DS4 the placement wasn't the problem it was the design of the sticks for the DS3. The textured sticks are great and the indents help keep your finger in place.

The triggers are definitely the biggest improvement and I prefer them to the Xbox controller even. No more putting the controller down and the triggers being pushed there is some weight to them and the "bumper" buttons feel fantastic too. So far so good on my decision to jump ship at least at launch I am sure I will own both at some point.

I agree. I can tell a difference when I watch my blu rays and when I am watching ESPN.

Yeah, one of the first things I noticed when I moved from a 32 inch to a 55 inch TV was how "bad" most cable channels looked. I mean, it's still definitely better than SD, but it's pretty incredible how much better a full 1080p blu-ray looks compared to stuff through my cable box.

I am really, really close to this. But I am thinking maybe substituting KillZone For FIFA and getting FIFA for Christmas. I don't know. Decisions, decisions...

AC4 is a done deal and NBA2K14 is almost certainly as well.

Apart from the resolution difference arguments, I would be more concerned on what is holding the hardware back from reaching 1080P at this point and any future concerns it may have with other games. I hate that for those going the One route, but I have no pity for MS....

I agree. It is extremely disturbing to me. I was still kind of in the middle until this news broke out. I was already weary of the specs but this kind of seals it for me. If I am going to drop an additional $100 out of the gate, you better be able to give me full hd.

If the rumors (which are just rumors at this point) about the OS crashing once a gaming session are true it is going to be a tough time for MS out of the gate.

That's 2 different things, they can all be 1080p, but the quality of what you are viewing could (and will) be garbage as it's compressed to fit more and more channels into the same pipe. Same applies to video games to a degree.

That's what makes whole this thing so unbelievable to me. If anything looking at the price tag the XBone should have better everything.

The question is will it matter to the casual market, I highly doubt it will.

EDIT: This is the exchange that transpired last night that set this whole thing about COD off. Take from it what you will. Evidently these users are in the loop, so to speak. Talked about WatchDogs and Drive Club being delayed before it got in the wild, etc. Only time will tell.

                        For anyone catching up.

I don't know. This has to be a HUGE red flag to all markets. The specs all along have shown PS4 as the more powerful system. Microsoft's constant response to that was that the specs may be lower but it was so easy to program for and the parts were so optimized (always sounded like pure BS) that there really would not be a difference in the consoles. Being unable to stabilize a game at a reasonable FPS at the same resolution seems to contradict all of that and seems to be an indicator of what's to come. They already had to lower their expectation on Ryse because the thing couldn't even run with their original polygon count now they appear to be flat out resigning themselves on two major titles and if I remember correctly the top two preordered games.

Especially when using a larger screen, there is a pretty noticeable difference between 1080p and 720p. It is 2013 and at this point, 1080p should be the standard. If either of these consoles is incapable of producing an image at that resolution along with 60 FPS, there is a serious problem. These are supposed to be fairly progressive upgrades over the current generation that is 7/8 years old now. I don't quite understand why they are rushing to put out these new consoles if they can't meet these guidelines. Why would anyone want to spend money on just a marginal upgrade?
