I don't exactly know what that means if anything in terms of performance. I also don't know if this is excessive writing and re-writing on the hard drive that would cause damage or performance loss with the drive itself, or at least make it degrade faster. Perhaps it is nothing at all.
I don't think 1 cache for all games makes sense when the BD drive only reads 27mb/sec - which is also why things aren't going to just play off that drive without an install or "caching". I think it's just a large install on this generation of games, little else.

Sure Killzone can be played once you've downloaded (or installed?) 7.5gb, but what if you pop it in and play the 3rd level, something that's not installed/cached because of this theoretical single 50gb cache area? You might have to wait 1-2 minutes for it to install/cache that level. Just doesn't make sense the way I see it.

I expect the reality is you can play Killzone once 7.5gb is installed (~3-4 minutes) and then while you play the rest is 'cached' while you play. If you're downloading it then it continues to download. Just a fancy term for install.

Maybe not traded but sell on Craigslist? Sure.

Figure you're getting the games at $40 each with the deal. Keep one wrapped, offer it for $50 on Craigslist when everywhere else it's $60. I call that easy selling.

Edit: bc of this deal I'm now getting AC4, NBA 2K14 and BF4.

If BF4 isn't available or one of those three is sold out, something, I'll still get whatever is there and just do the above.

          Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion

After deliberating which console to get and seeing how my personal lead console the last two gens has been the Xbox and Xbox 360 I've decided I'm going...PS4. I've honestly put in a lot less thought into a lot more important things in life than this decision lol. But for the first time since the PS1/N64 days, I may have to pick one console at launch and run with it for the next 2 years or so as family needs have taken priority over a lot of my disposable income. It makes which console I pick a very important decision as the limited time I have to play, I wanna make sure I'm enjoying as much as possible.

Everything looks stellar on the PS4 but even with that, the controller and the online service were enough to keep me thinking XO not PS4. After seeing the XO dashboard vids though, I just can't. I despise Windows 8. Very rarely have I hated an inanimate object so much. To see more and more videos of the XO dash in action and being reminded of W8 so much, I couldn't bring myself to do it. I know the 360 dash has SOME elements of W8 there, but this is a full out transition over and it swayed me for good. The comparison pics/vids the last few days have definitely made that much easier though.

My biggest worry as a big online player, is that Sony has any clue what the North American online player wants. Through the last two console generations, they've shown they don't have the slightest idea and it's only when you play the same game on both the 360 and the PS3 do you realize the massive gulf between the two services.

I know it's a paid service now but that doesn't always mean improvement overnight. I'm in with both feet with the PS4 and just praying to the video game gods the PS4 online service and stability at the very least matches the 360's. If that happens, I will be one happy little boy.

Yep that sucks. Well me and others have been sending tweets to Sony's President Shuhei Yoshida twitter (@yosp) #PS4NoaudioCD,#PS4MediaServer,#PS4NoDLNA - about how we want DNLA, and external harddrive support,MP3 capability/audioCD support on PS4. If you remember its almost simular to the whold DRM rumor issue when the PS4 info was annouced earlier this year, and the fans wanted the PS4 to be DRM free. People complained and sent tweets to him, and it worked. I know some don't care about this issue, but there are alot of us that want these features on PS4, especially if they were on PS3 already.

Made a long post but OS timed out or something. Oh well, I'll just hit on one point per the "ultimate FAQ"...

Will users be able to connect an external hard drive to expand storage on PS4?

No, this feature is not supported on PS4.
This doesn't exactly say that you can't use an external HDD to backup your saves or anything, it says "to expand storage." I can see where that is semantically different than saying being able to copy files, etc. I don't know, but maybe there's more to external drives than this question and answer reveals.

There is not a massive gulf between the two services. Early on I may have agreed with you, but especially when ps+ started adding free games I began to prefer it over XBL.

The only difference being party chat and slightly slower downloads. I just don't see this big difference.

true, if able to read the 1.50 update from usb that is essentially what an external HDD is, but they will disable the ability to copy game saves/data etc from PS4 to external/usb

I think thats a bit of wishful thinking. If the Ps4 has 500GB and I attach a 100GB HD...I've expanded the PS4's storage space. Also, now that everyone has Playstation Plus, Sony doesnt see the need for HD saves because all saves can be backed up on the cloud.

Not sure - Sony has made a slight reply about this topic since there has been alot of fans not liking this -

Thanks for the feedback to the lack of MP3 and DLNA support at the launch of PS4. I'll share with the PS4 Dev team for future consideration.

Which means like nothing. If they were thinking of adding it to PS4 they'd have had a less concrete statement in the FAQ.

They could patch this in later, but it seems more like a directed effort to pull it out for monetary reasons.

Right, but if nobody is gonna use the services then they might as well patch in the ability to let us stream/play our own music.

Yeah, for sure. I never used it that much, but was great for NCAA stadium sounds....made it so much more real once I uploaded all that stuff to my system.

had to patch in the ability to even play bluray/dvd discs, so Im assuming they have not added everything to the OS yet
