Anyone else ever turn on the PS4 and it have no sound?? I just turn it off and turn it back on and everything is cool, but it has happened twice now within a month and its concerning.

My PS4 has all kinds of problems with my Denon receiver. I've even gone to the point of hooking a second PS4 up to see if I get the same behavior which I did. So I've narrowed it down to incompatibilities with the receiver. When I called Denon they said that the HDMI handshaking with the PS4 is difficult. 98% of the time I power up my PS4 the resolution is wrong, so I have to power off my receive and back on to fix it. Some times I power it on and the resolution is correct, but the sound is messed by playing stereo instead of multi channel, have to power reset my receiver for this as well. Annoying to say the least. Doesn't have any issues with my Wii U, PS3, Directv, just the PS4.

This is completely normal. It's a " handshaking" issue. Happens occasionally with my PS4.

Does anyone else's PS4 get really loud when they play BF4? I took about a week exodus from PS4 because I just got an XB1, and now whenever I play BF4, it sounds like a jet engine!

Too bad TowerFall: Ascension is only local multiplayer. Seems like the type of game that would be a blast to play online. Near impossible for me to get 3 friends under one roof to play video games, never mind 3 that want to play TowerFall. Not sure I see myself playing it much solo before becoming bored.

Later mentioned time frame on this will be around or near Gamescom which is from Aug 13-17.

What model Denon are you using? Have you tried different HDMI cable with it?

Denon E400. I've tried multiple HDMI cables, different inputs on the receiver, starting up devices in different orders, etc. No luck.

I wouldn't know if I've had this problem because my Denon has a notoriously defective HDMI or Network board or something, leading to networking not working and usually has to be turned off/on when switching inputs, so mine is turned off and on all the time.

tl;dr: This is my last Denon.

My first Denon was so good, I loved it, but I had switch to one with HDMI. Not very happy with this new one. I've considered moving my Onkyo that I have in my living room into my gameroom, but I have it all wired into a media closet and to my outside speakers as well, not sure if it is worth all the trouble of swapping them... I'm just keep powering the Denon off and then back on in my game room.

I"ll check with the techs next time I work and see if they know any workaround for that model. Denon models were notorious for having those issues with the PS3 in the past. I use a 1913 myself and have been lucky so far except for the loss of sound issue others are posting about, but that is a PS4 firmware thing.

I've had this problem, but it's related to my TV inputs. (It's happened with other consoles, and even with watching hockey.) Turning the TV off and back on again fixes the problem for me.

That would be awesome, thanks. I never tried another Denon E400 because best buy didn't have anymore in stock for me to try. The tech service guy at Denon didn't sound surprised at the issue though.
