Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
I buy mostly physical for AAA games, and download smaller games digitally. Steam obviously all digital. Hell, I just repurchased Rocksmith on the PSN sale for $15 so I did not have to insert a disc for a 6.5GB base game, in which I will always playlist for the convenience of launching it on the fly when plugged in. Still have my disc copy on got on sale with the cable for $25 a couple of months ago.
I will also ask this, while we like to collect things, especially as sports fans, who really dives into games a generation or two ago that don't usually just get emulators/remasters and the like? I notice the older I get, I just move on to the newest generation, combined with backlogs being so big now, I do not have time to even think about playing games 2 consoles ago. I still have a PS3 with a few backlog games, but do not think I will ever get to them... still have to get to a couple of PS4 launch games, and just recently picked up Bloodborne for $16 with GCU, lol.Last edited by EnigmaNemesis; 05-12-2016, 05:10 PM.Ⓥ Boston Red Sox | Miami DolphinsComment

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
Then you can just re-download them with your account, as you would on Steam, not to mention back up the data to an external.

Yeah, tell that to people who can't download their PSP games anymore.
I only trust in digital distribution for PCs, cause they won't go away.
Do i buy digital games on consoles? Yep, but only if the game is either digital only, if the game wasn't released in physical media around here (like MLB The Show) or if the price is too good to pass on it (I'm talking about price cuts and sales).
Even then, if i manage to get the game on physical media, I'll buy it again if i have it digitally.
It is even worse with Nintendo games, because they're not linked to your account, but to your console.
Call me old, but for me, games are more than just playing them. Having the game, admiring it's cover art, opening the box for the first time... It's something that i still value.PSN ID/Street Fighter V Fighter ID: razorkaosComment

Physical is not going to go away any time soon. They both have their pros and cons, and I still purchase physical 95% of the time for much of the same reasons you said. I was just commenting on the hard drive crashing comment, and also commenting on how moving forward, what both Sony and Microsoft are doing, as well as Nintendo, is making a games as a service ecosystem not unlike Steam, Origin, iOS, Google Play and the like. One where your stuff is forward compatible just like mobile and PC.
There will be hiccups in the infancy, and the same things can be found for select titles and the like on the PC. Publishers can pull at anytime. Just ask Gearbox and what they just did with Duke Nukem IP purchase, and many cases before it.Last edited by EnigmaNemesis; 05-12-2016, 09:33 PM.Ⓥ Boston Red Sox | Miami DolphinsComment

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
The PC and Vita interfaces for downloading purchased PSP games are still available, so it's not like PSP users have been completely cut off or anything (not saying that you're saying that). As far as I can tell, Apple users might have a problem though because there's no Media Go program for those.Comment

I remember reading a few weeks ago about Sony warning people to download their PSP games before the shutdown, and as far as i know, the only possible workaround would be to download the games on the PS3 (if it's still available on PSN) and transferring them to the PSP.
Apple and their services are out of my knowledge, but if you can at least install a second OS, like Ubuntu or even Windows, you could still keep your games safe (if you bought them on Steam, GOG or Green Man Gaming, it's even easier and safer).PSN ID/Street Fighter V Fighter ID: razorkaosComment

The only thing that closed was the store interface built into the PSP.

Unless I missed that about the PSP ones.
EDIT: Found it... they are not removing the games. They are taking down the store on the PSP. Games are still purchasable on the Vita, PS3, and PC.

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
Yea I'm seeing that on a lot of sites now too.
That's going to be awesome, updated PS4 and Battlefield 1 are the two biggest things I'm looking forward to. PS4K sounds better than NEO.Last edited by Boltman; 05-13-2016, 11:46 AM.Comment

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
I think I'm another year + away from looking into a 4K TV.
I'm going to want another PS4 at some point anyways. I purchased my current PS4 at a Japanese Toys-R-Us back in 2014. It's been great to me, but I can't use it as a blu ray player because of the region lock. Ideally I'd like to move it to the living room when I get back in the States and get a "PS4.5" for my man cave, but that's out of thee question if we can only use it for gaming.
It's all up for debate between me and the lady.. there's plenty of time to figure it out. I'm the tech savy one. She's still using a tube style TV and DVD player. I just ordered a PS3 for cheap and an HD TV for her she doesn't know is on the way. It almost bothers me to know she doesn't watch TV in HD.. lol.
I won't have some half assed home entertainment centerLast edited by AUChase; 05-13-2016, 11:35 AM.Comment

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
Maybe it's DVD's then ?
I've only ever tried to put a DVD in and it didn't work. I'll have to test this out.
I ordered the entire series of The Shield last year and it won't work and I get an error code because it's a different region. I didn't really look into it beyond that. I assumed DVD and blu ray was the same.
Time to research.. lol.Comment

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
Probably next year is when I'll be looking at 4K projectors. They're still around $6-8K
