Yea it ultimately comes down to what you pay for cable. I was just using rough numbers and math that was easy. I'm done with school didn't want to do that much work with real prices of each one. And looking at all the different cable packs available.

Oh I know, I agree though, cutting the "cord" is not necessarily going to save everyone money if you get a lot of the subscription services.

I save about 60 a month, also no contracts.

Agreed on the no contracts part!

Im saving about $70 now and so happy I dont have to pay monthly fees on equipment!

DirecTV + Netflix + Hulu + HBO + Starz = approx. $180

Vue + Netflix + Hulu + HBO + Starz = approx. $90


Ps: Love Hulu. If it weren't for my desire for live sports, we honestly wouldn't even have Vue either, despite how much I really like it. With Vue I still get all ESPN programming plus live NBC, CBS and Fox.

As you all have mentioned, it's really about what price you can get for your internet. I dropped the TV part of my Fios package (including 2 DVRs) and now I pay $55/month for a 50Mb internet service from them.

So, internet ($55) + Vue ($35) + Netflix ($8) = $98

With the Fios package I was paying $188/month. So I save about $90/month going this route.

Some areas have local channels for fox, abc, cbs and NBC.

Right now only certain markets get that. Dallas (thankfully) is one of them. I have the Core package which is $44.99. The Basic package (yours but with the live programming) is $34.99.

One of the main things with DirectTv is equipment, well assuming that you have multiple TV. We have 4 Genie's at $7 bucks a piece, plus they charge and "Advanced Receiver Service fee" of $15 a month and for some dumb reason I have the protection plan which is $8 (I need to call and cancel that)... So we pay $52 a month just in Equipment services.
