Thanks for the link. I want to change mine to match OS or to my last name.

ZERO percent chance of any discount at launch. Can maybe see getting the game early if it's pre-ordered but even that, would be 50/50. Reason digital games normally stay higher than their disc counterparts is that digitally, Sony gets 30% for every digital game sold so the publisher only gets $42 for each $60 game. If the publisher lowers the price, they'll lose even more. This is just one of the many reasons why digital only games will cost everyone a small fortune. Hell, look at The Evil Within. Over 18 months old and it's STILL $60 on PSN. *SMH*

Retail stores get a cut of every sale and Sony charges a licensing fee for every game sold as well. Microsoft has a similar setup.

Overall they probably aren't. Giving up some retail margin in exchange for a token membership and brand loyalty, many likely then go in to become even more valuable customers.

Yeah. I'm surprised it's still going on. It's a steal of a deal.

Pretty much my scenario. Mainly was used for games, but since needing a new TV, I went there to buy my new 4K set two months ago, as well as getting my soundbar/woofer in a week as well.

The way all the points keep adding up, it causes me to go through them. Them price matching is a big plus as well.

I know but the percentages are lower because of buying in bulk. Publishers make the majority of their money on disc based games. If you watch a Pachter video on youtube (forgot which one but it's one of his recent videos from siftd), he breaks down the percentages of what the publishers get as well as what Sony/Microsoft charges for when you buy a digital game.

For Amazon as an example, he said they get nothing on the games that give 20% off. I would assume Best Buy is the same.

If/when gaming goes all digital, I fully expect publishers to keep everything "in-house" meaning every digital game you buy will be a code that you enter for the respective console which would be purchased directly from the publisher. Kind of how EA has Origin. This eliminates the 30% fee and all profit goes directly to the publisher.

I keep doing this weird tango where I go digital for a game or two and then go back to disc for a game or two, repeat. It's weird, I dunno why

I am assuming "digital" includes all the money that people spend on FIFA and Madden points in the Ultimate Team modes.

This means nothing to me because it's heavily inflated due to DLC, sales, micro-transactions, etc.

What I want to know is how many full game downloads do they get on a new release percentage wise? And no, EA Access on Xbox One doesn't count.

To me, until full game downloads at launch for $60 hit at least the 70% mark, it will be at least two more generations until gaming goes all digital.

Also, doesn't EA have mobile games and stuff? If so, doesn't that count towards that 55%? And if yes, that just proves the inflated part.

And just like DLC, MUT is only available digitally so as always, EA heavily inflating their numbers. I would like to see publishers disclose the sales of full game digital downloads on a monthly basis starting with the month the game releases. Of course, none of them do this because everyone would see through all their bull crap.

I don't know if I even want to go all digital. You start getting to the point of if you really "own" this game.
