I just prefer the controller and overall experience Sony provides. Right now, Access is a $30 rental program for me. So stupid that Sony passed on that service...

Both systems are great though. I'll never understand fanboys or system wars. At the end of the day, neither are so expensive that one can't eventually own and enjoy both.

Playing games is expensive in general but that is not going to stop me from buying more then 1 system. But for me its Sony and Nintendo. Microsoft has not made a single exclusive game that I care about getting ever! Not on xbox, not on xbox360 and not on xboxone. So for me there is just no reason to get a Microsoft system at all.

Yes it is it is one of only about 5 games this gen that has really blown me away with its graphics and the game has a lot of tracks to start with. If you get all the DLC stuff to the amount of tracks almost make it like a new game. There is also a bike DLC. What they did with DLC in that game is incredible. Makes it almost like a whole new game. I have all the DLC tracks and I still haven't played a lot of them. The game is really hard though but very good game.

Not for everyone, but man does it have a hardcore following, especially in Europe.

Yeah its not sim but it is not completely arcade either. You cant just drive into cars and take them out like you can on a game like Need for speed. If you try to do that you are just going to crash and like flip your car.

Are ps4 sales still going at a faster pace then ps2? I heard the other day that ps4 sales where at like 43 million or something. The system has not been out for 3 years yet in till like November or October forget what month it came out. So that is still a few months away. That sounds like a lot. It is already like 40-50% of what ps3 has sold and ps3 has been out of course much longer. I haven't seen ps3 sale numbers in a while. Last I saw they where like 86 million but I think that was a few years ago. So like how many ps2 had been sold when it was a little less then 3 years old like ps4 is now?

Oh ok yeah I will most likely upgrade my hard drive between now and feb. I thought the hard drive had to be 2.5 inch not 3.5? That one is 3.5. Like I said I am around 44 GB so I am only going to be able to have like 1 maybe 2 games if one or both are smaller games before I am out of space. I am going to be getting that game that is in your avatar in October and Horizon come feb and I have thought about getting the Tomb raider game from 2013 has I haven't played the newer ones but have heard a lot of good things about them and I know that one is cheap now.

Just be careful. When it gets too low, you can't install certain patches that need more room to do their thing. Especially when you think you have the room because it says you have more gigs than the patch file size. Compression and all.

                  Yes, still very quiet.

Need to do my OG Phat PS3 next. It wails like a banshee, lol. Legit mild hair dryer.
I have definitely explained my original PS3 situation on this board before, and it's a weird one... basically, it has a YLOD issue, or at least it has before. I have powered it off for a long period of time, and firing it up now it has no issues. It would again after leaving it in standby, so now I just completely power it off.

When I vacuumed the PS3 Slim from the outside a couple of years ago, I did the same thing for the Fatty. I think the YLOD had something to do with the dust to be honest. I still turn it off completely when not in use (and I don't use it that much because it is in my bedroom with my PS4, while the PS3 Slim is out in the living room and gets a lot of use for Blu-rays, MLB.TV and Netflix... though rarely games!), but I think cleaning the inside would really do it wonders.

Now the big problem: the screw to access the HDD is stripped. I had the biggest of issues to get my 400GB HDD back in there after sending it in for repairs once long ago, and I probably have no chance of accessing that area again. That pretty much means I can't get it open anymore, and that really sucks for me. I would have done it at the same time as these, otherwise.

Yeah, I had my '08 BC model reflowed in 2013 when I got the YLOD. Been fine ever since, but started getting loud last year. I know it has to be a dust problem.

Dust is more harmful to electronics than most understand. It not only can make them hotter, it can effect performance as well. Then have a chance to break a component in them.

Yeah I don't know how that works but I have heard something from people about needed twice has much spaces has you would think you would need sometimes to install a game or a patch or something.

                        Totally.

I take back what I said anyway, I forgot that this one internally opens by sliding off the top. I don't think the HDD has anything to do with it.

That said, I might try and clean this one tonight or tomorrow. Depends on how long it would take. I remember that I had to open this one up to get a disc out of my PS3 when turning it in for repair, so it was a common thing for me to open it often heh.

Love the design of the original PS3. Shiny and robust. Still my favorite console look to date.

EDIT: Crap, I take that back take that back. Looks like you do have to still take out the HDD. I seem to remember getting this done at Radio Shack, so they might have put in a new screw at the time. I'll look at it later.

I got a ps3 back in 2007 about 10 months or so after it first came out so I had the BC one but I never had a ps2 so I never had ps2 games. Yeah I know I didn't have a ps2 what a shock lol but I was more gamecube that gen. I end up paying like 300-400 to get a second ps3 this time a slim ps3 after my first one ps3 got the YLOD after only like 2.5 years. I don't know what it is but I had 2 gamecubes stop reading disk after about 2.5 years and a ps3 that got a YLOD after about 2.5 years. My slim ps3 I had ever since my first ps3 brook. So like almost 6 years now. I didn't get my first ps3 fixed because I fell like I tend to have bad luck with systems breaking on me and prefer to have a new system over a fixed one or something and I didn't know if I would get my ps3 back or a refurbished one. I didn't want to pay what ever it was to fix it. So I lost all my saves has I didn't know how to back up saves back then. The odd thing is when my ps3 got that YLOD I had only been playing it for like 20 minutes.

PS4 is currently at 43.5m worldwide. Sony shipped 3.5m units during Q1 2016 which was down from the 8m shipped in Q4 2015. Sony expects to ship another 20m before 2017. PS4 and Xbox One are still outpacing PS3 and Xbox 360 through 31 months.

lol maybe a little of both. Well with gamecube I would say it was a little more playing a lot has I had a lot more free time back then to play. From ps3 on I haven't had the time I used to play being a grown up now. I am 27 and I love sports so most of my time is catching up on sports and working and sleeping. I still play a good amount but not like before 07 when I was still in high school. I wish I had more time to play now days. I mean yeah I still play but before when I didn't have to work I almost never went a day with out playing some video games. Now days I some times go like 3 weeks with out having free time to play lol.

Oh ok that I why I find it funny when people say that consoles are dead or that xboxone is not sailing well. Xbox360 sold like 85 million or something and right now xboxone is on pace for more than that. Its not that they are sailing bad its just ps4 is sailing crazy fast. I think with the way ps4 is going it is going to for sure pass ps3 the question is can it out sale ps2? I think it is to soon to really now. I think by the end of like 2018 we will have a much better idea.
