Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
Except for Neo actually existing, all of it is a "what if". Until Sony actually starts talking about Neo and confirms the specs, release date, price, etc., it's all nothing more than rumors, speculation and guesses. Besides, where's the harm in the "what ifs"? That's what it makes it fun and interesting. Sort of like all the speculation, rumors, leaked reports, etc. about what NX will be. Same thing. Don't really see the problem but im sorry for being an annoyance. I'll stop speculating.Comment

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
On a related note - I also believe that NEO would eliminate the processing unit that's included with the PSVR which would allow Sony to remove it and thus lower the cost of the PSVR unit itself or release a PSVR retail unit without the processing unit for those who buy NEO and want to buy a PSVR.
That unit has already been confirmed as a very low cost, low power chip that handles the de-scrambling of the image to reproject to a TV screen.
It was also able to handle audio I believe, so they tossed it on there as 'free power' free up from one of the cores in the PS4. But nothing 'game changing'.

This is like what would happen if Verne Troyer had to fight Brock Lesnar in a UFC PPV. Total annihilation. I could see Verne being punted into the upper decks.

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
Just internally cleaned out all of the dust from my PS4. I won't say that it was a painless process, but I feel confident in doing it again, provided that I don't strip any screws or anything of that sort. Not knowing how to do it the first time, the whole process took about 45 minutes. I think I could narrow it down to 15-20 though no problem. Maybe do the same thing again in six months.
It wasn't as dusty as I thought it would be from the parts that I could see, but I think I blew out quite a bit of dust with my compressed air can, so much that I sneezed a few times haha. I did try and remove the back sticker (the one that voids the warranty) by using a hair dryer to melt the glue, and although I removed it just fine, I think it looks like it has been removed just from the "wrinkled" look of putting it back on. I think my warranty was already void at this point, but no matter.
I'm just hoping that it will sound a lot quieter when running (especially with a few NMS marathons, I assume!), and probably more importantly last longer of course. I'm about to attack the PS3 Slim next. I'm currently watching MLB.TV with it and it is by far the loudest of all of my consoles.
EDIT: Now just took care of my PS3. As you can tell, these are long processes. It's not just "20 minutes and done" for any one of them, because you have to unplug, get all of your tools, the works. Even still, it's been a couple of years since doing just an outside vacuum/compressed air job on my PS3, and now working inside of it, I think I just bought myself another couple of years haha. Only kidding, it'll certainly get loud again long before that. Even still, it's nice to not have to think about it for a while. Worth it this one time, at the very least!Last edited by Blzer; 07-29-2016, 11:03 PM.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Driveclub looked great but the handling was bad IMO. Especially since I compared it to Forza games.

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
The most recent Need for Speed is actually a lot of fun. If you were a fan of Need for Speed Underground it'll make your nostalgia very happy. My only complaint is the lack of a manual option, but they could have patched that in as the game continues to be updated on a regular basis.
FYI it actually does have manual transmission now as that was patched in.
It's a solid game, not my favorite but as you mentioned it brings back some nostalgia. Many improvements are needed IMO but it's cheap now and I had a lot of fun with it. Stick with it past the first few hours, it gets much better as you upgrade your car(s).

I just do that Batman guide I posted a bit back, only taking off the bottom. I think the stickers took the longest trying to be careful, but it is already out of warranty, so I just threw them out, lol. Next time it will be much faster not having to worry about them.
Was not bad either, especially considering it is a launch unit, but my OCD with electronics dust, dusts them everyday, lol.
It did make a night and day difference, and it quieted down like it was at launch. Barely hear it.
You will be surprised that only a little bit of cakie dust on the fan, will make it work harder and change the pitch.

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
I don't know and I am most likely to not even get it but it is still driving me nuts lol. We have had a lot of rumors about both the NX and NEO before even E3 and we still have no real information only rumors. Even though I am most likely to not get it I still want to know how is it going to compare to the Scorpio? Is it going to come out before? Is it going to be cheaper? How is its power going to compare? I know rumors say it is going to be much less powerful then Scorpio but again in till Sony says something we don't know for sure. Is it going to play 4k blurays? Is Sony going to also going to do a slim ps4 has well like Microsoft is doing with the xboxone s thing and Scorpio? Is its hard drive going to be bigger than 500 GB? How much is it going to cost? Is there going to be a trade in thing for it if you want to upgrade?
I am most likely not going to get it because I already have a ps4 and playing games and buying systems already cost a lot of money. I bought ps4 for 400. If say it cost 400 and say you can get 150 for trading it in that would still be paying 250 more for it. That means 650 just on buying the ps4. Now if the NEO cost only say like 350 and you can trade in the old ps4 for 150 and the NEO also has a bigger hard drive than maybe I would get it because I am going to need a bigger hard drive any way and so that 200 difference if it cost 350 and you could get 150 for trade in would really be even like less with the bigger hard drive thing.
This and NX stuff is driving me nuts. So many rumors and no real news. With NX I just want to know because I love Nintendo and I think if NX doesn't do well that is the end of the Nintendo making consoles and I want to know if I should get a NX right away or what and if the Zelda game is going to be worth getting the NX version instead of the wii u version or not. I want to know if the NX is really going to be what the rumors over the last day or 2 have been saying and if the system is really going to be way under powered again.Comment

This does mean I did a little more with my PS3 than the PS4 because I also took out the fan and cleaned it with Q-tips and alcohol, but I think I got a lot of it out.

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
What is like a good price for a 2 TB hard drive? I am down to 44 GB and I only have 9 games so far and I don't trade games in and like to go back and play games I haven't played for a while ever now and again. Based off how much space I have used with only 9 games I think a 1 TB hard drive is the minimum that I am going to need this gen by the end and I would rather just get a 2 TB to be safe then getting a 1 TB hard drive and have to upgrade again later. Do you guys think the NEO will have a bigger hard drive by the way?Comment

For sure. Yeah, I did a lot more disassembly (fast-forward those videos and check it out to see kind of what I did).
How long ago did you do yours? Does it still run quietly?
Yes, still very quiet.
Need to do my OG Phat PS3 next. It wails like a banshee, lol. Legit mild hair dryer.
