    Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion

This is not a traditional console launch. They do not need that much of a head start since it will be playing the same software in the same ecosystem. The fact games that come out after October have to contain Neo compatibility is a start.

They can announce and launch very shortly after. They also have a VR launch to focus on as well.

I am not worried. We will get info soon enough.

Yeah I am definitely not worried. Honestly, while I am super excited for the upgrade, if they decided to push it back to re-up to the Scorpio's power level it wouldn't bother me one bit. I will be happy either way.

For the record, I don't think that is going to happen, just thinking out loud. My money is on a release before December

If Sony does decide to release the Neo this year how much under powered will it be compared to the Scorpio?

Hard to say, certainly nothing I'd worry about for the next several months. Really depends on how each use that power since the intention is to not fracture the user bases.

I'd say the NEO will be able to run ALL future games in 1080p 60FPS. 4k for apps and most likely upscale to 4k for games. There's no denying that xbox announcing scorpio at E3 most likely made sony wait to talk about NEO. Still getting both.

I think those expectations are too arbitrary, I'd rather games use resolution tricks and maintain a rock solid FPS, or others lock the FPS to maintain an exquisite image and experience - if they can't do both. Achieving one or the other (both is a bonus) and ultimately creating a great game is a success IMO.

I've checked out some Youtube videos but decided to ask you guys. How do you guys clean your PS4? I haven't cleaned mine yet and was wondering what's the best way to do it.

Pre-Scorpio, I would have said that October is guaranteed for Neo but post-Scorpio, I would be very surprised if they release Neo this year especially in the same time frame as PSVR. Add rumors of a PS4 slim and just seems like it will be too much, too soon.

I'm hoping Neo comes out late 2017 because I would to see Horizon, GOW and Days Gone be released before Neo.

Sony mentioned the Neo and said they were going to talk about it at a later time when they have enough software with improvements ready to show... several days before E3. So the Scorpio did nothing.

Playstation is the sales leader with over 2:1 worldwide. Announcing a 'paper tiger' did nothing but harm MSFT if anything. Since it will just prompt some people to wait who were interested in getting an Xbox soon.

People are giving a 'paper tiger' announcement way too much credit, when Sony is going to do what Sony is going to do, they are in control of themselves. I am so glad these companies do not operate like the internet skeptics believe they do, lol.

My post wasn't meant to be a competition sales comparison. I'm pointing what a lot of people have been saying online. Microsoft surprised many people when they announced the Scorpio(paper tiger like you say). As far as hurting themselves that seems logical, but the pre orders have sold out on Amazon at first. I personally think it was silly of them also announcing it this early since many people would just hold off and wait for the Scorpio. One thing helping the Xbox slim IMO is that it's a also a cheap UHD blu ray player for $299. Some of the cheapest UHD blu ray players are around $400 and more. Sony always bragged about their console being the stronger out of the 2 in the beginning and until now, but lately I've read them say graphics isn't everything which is true, but it's probably safe to say Scorpio may have something to do with that. Like I said I always get both since I enjoy exclusives on both. Both companies are using the cell phone strategy of releasing stronger consoles mid cycle that all work together with the same games.

The NEO is coming this year and it will be out in October....They are not going to make it Scorpio strong. It will bump up graphics for sure and provide 4K upscaling and movies

Scorpio is a whole different beast but is a year away and it will cost about 550

                        The NEO will be 450

If true, Neo being $450 will be a tough sell in my opinion. The minimal upgrade does not warrant a current price increase of $100. Personally, Sony should just release it at $350 and eliminate the current model.

As for Scorpio, I see the price being $400 as costs will decrease by late 2017 and it's Microsoft who have no problem taking losses on the console. Unlike Sony with PlayStation, Microsoft can take greater risks because they're so much more as a company where as Sony is pretty much betting everything on the PlayStation brand.

Will be interesting for sure and releasing Neo this October along side PSVR is a risky move in my opinion as you don't want one overshadowing the other.

I don't think Microsoft will take a loss. There was talk a few years ago of Microsoft selling or getting rid of Xbox. It's not part of the way they see themselves in the future.
