Was PSN maxing out your connection? Back of a napkin math puts that around 23Mbits/s

I have no clue. I put it into rest mode before I went to work and when I got home and checked the downloaded finish time was 0935.

PlayStation 4 Discussion

Wifi being faster is definitely a plus. Does it have better range too? The regular PS4 is terrible with wifi.

5ghz is a ton faster but the range is actually much worse

The problem for download speeds has never been WIFI for me. I've run a hard wire to the ps4 and the speed doesn't even change. The ps4 just has a limit on speed for some reason. It doesn't come close to downloading games and updates compared to my available speed.

Anyone notice after 4.0 game updates aren't happening while the console is in standby anymore?

I have had ps4 from the first day it came out and I never get updates in standby mode so I don't know. If I turn the system on I will then get the update and then I can go into standby mode and it will continue to download while I am in standby mode. But I never have a update start in less I fully turn the system on.

For some reason after the update before 4.0 my DL speeds sped up. For years it was capped at like 50 down/7 up on PSN. After 3.5 or whatever it went up to like 90down/12 up, and now on the Slim with 4.0 I am getting my full 170 down/25 up. At least on the speed test. Not sure if that speed test really means anything

Have you changed the DNS settings? That sped mine up a ton...

Yeah I know and I have the setting turned on yet it never does download any thing while in standby. I am not sure if I am the only one or not that has had the problem of that not working.

I haven't done that. Makes me nervous.

It took me almost two hours to download For Honor at 12 gb with 30 mbs. That's still a pretty bad relationship between real download speed and actual psn download speed.

I like "new" tech and I want a PS4 Slim, but I'll wait for now. With a kid on the way in a few days, It seems like a pretty bad time to impulsively buy something I really don't need.
