I would be pretty shocked if all future first part games/playstation exclusives don't launch with Pro Mode enhancements.

Hopefully that is how it works out, at least.

The Show would be an awesome game to demo what the Pro can do. I can imagine that studio would do great things with the extra horsepower.

It already looks amazing but like you said, the Pro version would be a jaw dropper.

Does anyone think retailers will be doing midnight launches for the Pro? Was thinking about taking my son to a midnight launch for the Pro. Ill just ask when I go in to pay off the pro sometime towards the end of next week but was curious what others thought on here.

Maybe we'll finally get a good presentation package

A little under two weeks to go before the Pro releases. Also I definitely think the Show will have a Pro mode.

OK I guess I am confused as maybe I haven't been following as close as I thought. So I thought Sony confirmed already that games that come out by or after a certain date would have pro support, it was only the games before that date that had to choose if they would patch it in? If this is true then why all the talk about what games will support pro?

                  I don't know for sure.

I feel like I haven't actually seen Sony say that all games past a certain point will launch with Pro support. I feel like that was something someone said in this thread awhile back but I don't think it is confirmed (AGAIN, I could be wrong).

The vibe I have gotten from everything Mark Cerny, from Sony, has said is that it is up to the devs and all they can do is encourage devs to take advantage of the Pro.

Again, this is just my perspective and maybe I missed something. I feel like if there was a hard-date of mandatory Pro support we wouldn't be getting articles about which games support Pro and which don't.

This is the only quote I have found from a recent search:

Sony says “virtually all new PS4 game releases moving forward will be able to take advantage of PS4 Pro capabilities on day one, or in some cases shortly after launch via a downloadable update.” Sony also confirmed that “there will not be any PS4 Pro-exclusive games.”

Not sure this confirms that all games past a certain point will for sure have Pro mode

If anyone has more info and/or insight into this that would be great

                  EDIT

Here is the link to the article that has Pro mode support details for each game as well as which games have flat out said they wont get a patch

I played the demo. It was very Final Fantasy. If I didn't already have a cartoonish rpg type game (Dragon Quest Builders) in the rotation I'd have considered it.

Yeah its funny you mention DQB because that is the other game I am trying to decide between. Been going back and forth comparing those two games and trying to figure out which one I think I will get the most out of.

Maybe I am just misunderstanding or my English comprehension is off but to me that sounds as if what I was saying. That the games before pro releases will have to be chosen by the developer to be supported via a patch. So to me that looks as if all future games will support pro. If all games didn't I would think this is a major fail by Sony and a huge dupe to its consumers.

What im betting on is that Sony's PS4 pro supersampling/checkboarding works in the same way nvidias supersampling works where you just automatically GET the benefit of uprezzing?

it would SUCK if it wasnt automatic.

If we have to HOPE for the dev. to ADD that ability thatd be BAD

Ive cancelled my pre order due to the shadiness that this is being handed to us

After hearing only two weeks before its release that there are TWO cpus/gpus where one handles reg ps4 titles and the other pro "enabled" ones make me VERY leary

Basically that extra 100 is only benefiting us 1080p players an extra gig of harddrive space if anything else.

I guess it comes down to the interpretation of the line about future games "will be able to." When I read that I think "will be able to" means they can, but doesn't mean necessarily will. Maybe that is the pessimist in me though.

It is clear that all games released before Pro will require a patch for "Pro mode" and that is up to the devs, we definitely are on the same page there. I dunno if it is concrete, clear as day, that every game released in the future will have Pro Mode enhancements. I would love to find a concrete Yes or No to that question from Sony though

I think the concept of shutting off half the GPU for reg titles was in the interest of ensuring there would be no compatibility issues.

I really feel like we need to hold off before coming to this conclusion. I feel there is a lot of opinion/speculation that gets misinterpreted as fact in this thread. That link I posted a few posts contains details of some games confirmed with 1080p enhancements. It's not a huge list by any means but over time it will grow.

At worst we get faster HD drive speeds (if you upgrade the HD to a hybrid or SSD for sure, and maybe with stock), benefits of an overlocked CPU and the extra gig of RAM.

There are some things I don't think we know for sure yet that I think a person or two have touted as fact.
