Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
I really wonder why they do that in the first place. If you could just switch out hard drives with out that happening things would be so much easier because then you wouldn't have to redownload and reinstall any thing. I don't get why they make it harder then it should be.Comment

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
That makes zero since. How is putting a hard drive that you have saved stuff onto any different then redownloading stuff onto a different hard drive? Either way you are keeping what you had and you have to have a hard drive in a system no matter what.Comment

It doesn't make any sense that Sony hasn't provided an ability to migrate the data instead, but the reason for doing it in general makes complete sense.Comment

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
Sure it does, put in a hard drive that is partitioned for another system ID and it's incompatible and has to be formatted for the new system.

No it does not why do you need to make it so that it has to be formatted in the first place? Why do you need to make it have to be incompatible in the first place with out formatting it? Makes Zero since.Comment

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
That is my point rather you have to redownload stuff or could just put old hard drive into new system with out having to redownload any thing they results are the same. Really it is just a extra pointless annoying step they make you go threw for no reason.Comment

It does have something to do with DRM and copy protection but as has been said, its stupid and in this day and age they need to come up with a new way rather than to cause such inconvenience.
ESPECIALLY since they don't allow external drives as Microsoft does, which makes this stupidity even more infuriating.
I'm cool with opening up my PS4 and changing its guts out but its annoying that Sony makes it even harder than it needs to be when they don't allow for external hard disks.Streaming PC & PS5 games, join me most nights after 6:00pm ET on TwitchTV https://www.twitch.tv/shaunh20

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
And now that I think about it, if its all about DRM, why can I disconnect my external hard drive from my Xbox One, take it to a friends house, plug it in and sign in and it works?
I understand this being an issue 3 years ago but it needs to go, Sony needs to look at this especially with them not giving us larger system options and/or external drives as an alternative.Streaming PC & PS5 games, join me most nights after 6:00pm ET on TwitchTV https://www.twitch.tv/shaunh20
