Who knows how accurate it is, but I saw on another forum that a Gamestop employee told the poster not to trade stuff in today, and wait for a new trade promo that starts tomorrow. I'm hoping for a bump for trade value for the original PS4, but it might just be a percentage bonus of games being traded toward a Pro.

BB will probably bump their price back up next week ... unless that is now the permanent value.Comment

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
This is not in any way intended to start a console war, I have both and love them both. I just wonder if Sony should have gone the route Microsoft took and taken more time with the Pro. Everything just screams rush job and half-baked. Even if they waited until next Spring or Summer, it would have given developers more time to learn the capabilities and get on board.
I'm still excited for it personally but it seems there's a collective meh when it could have been hell yeah!

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
Thanks to the heads up from rudyjuly I traded my launch PS4 with a 500GB hard drive, one controller and nothing else at GameStop/EB for $210. Could I have gotten more selling it privately? Probably. But this was hella convenient and they still had plenty of systems available for preorder.

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
I have a dilemma too, and alot is going to depend on the performance of the hard drives in the Pro. I have a 1GB SSHD and the aforementioned 2GB 5400rpm HDD. I want the speed of the SSHD. But even with the 2GB storage, I was up to 1.7GB's of games on it. I could download the essentials on the SSHD but I'm a weirdo and like having everything I've ever bought or downloaded off PS Plus on my system.
First world problems indeed.

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
Well I caved and pre-ordered one from Best buy today. I'll be picking it up on Thursday. I'm very excited to see how games will look on my Samsung KS8500. Everyone should be in for a little treat.

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
Actually, I question if the PS5 will ever even be out. They may just drop the branding of the numbers and call it Playstation and have revisions of it like Pro, Elite, etc. That's what I've read.
And I know I initially thought that sounded terrible but think about it, always having all your old games work, no worrying about old controllers working, etc.
Sort of the same as a PC. You buy a new/better PC but your printer, joysticks, monitors, everything still works with your new PC.
While if that is what happens then I think I am going to buy ever other one then because if that is what happens then we may be seeing a more powerful system ever 3 years instead of your normal 5-6 year gen. So if that is what happens and you buy ever other one then you would be getting a new system basically ever 6 years or so like a normal gen and would be getting a bigger increase in power from the last system you had compared to if you are getting ever one and that way you would not be spending more then a normal gen like you would if you where to get each one.Comment

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
I am surprised it is not 150 at best buy.
Well said, I only disagree with the timing of it all. Bigger picture, and I may be in the minority here, but I hope this is the start of a refresh every 3-4 years where it's still the same platform but with beefed up specs.
I know some of you are thinking, why not just get out build a PC... Reality is I just wanna plug the darn thing in and have it work with minimal effort. I'm a constant tinkerer and chaser of the proverbial "holy grail" when it comes to tech. I'd go broke if I had a PC lol.

While I don't like this mid gen upgrade but if we knew this was going to be the new thing going forward for now on I would most likely just skip and get ever other one then but if they do that for now on I don't have a problem with it has long has it is not a surprise like it was with the pro.Comment

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
So just wondering with pro not being able to play 4k Bluray and with 4k Players costing a lot most of them are like 400 and cheapest like 250-300 how long do you guys think it will take for 4k players to cost only like 100-150? 400 for a movie player is just crazy.Comment
