Wow, you guys are hardcore. I've only had the Genesis, PS2, 360 (until it RROD'd) and PS3.

EDIT: Forgot we had an Atari when I was very young.

I received or bought consoles in a weird order. I have also had two PS3s, two PS1s, two PS2, and three 360. Currently have a PS3 and PS2.

I had divorced parents as a kid so had a PS1 and then a PS2 at both houses because they didn't want me traveling with them. Then my first PS3 died after 5 years. Also had my 360 RR twice so I sold it and bought a new model when they came out. It helped having a sister. We got opposite consoles from each other and we both just played them.

I wish I could say I wasn't brand loyal, but I sort of am. The PS1 and PS2 were my only consoles that belonged to me and me only until I got old enough to buy my own stuff. I'm not so loyal that I could overlook MSFTs garbage. If the roles were reversed this time, I would buy an Xbox.

I'm quite a bit younger than most people here, so I imagine my console history isn't as vast.

(I have owned a bunch of handhelds too. Gameboy Color, GBA, GBA SP, DS Lite, PS Vita)

Now it will be the PS4. Like others, when you combine Microsoft's policies on used games and internet connections plus their 499$ price point, it's a no brainer. I trade in games quite often and having M$ say that they are going to restrict you on how you trade, sell and lend games you purchased with YOUR hard earned money, it rubs me the wrong way. I'll own both probably at some point, but PS4 will easily keep me occupied for years to come.

As for the conferences:

Microsoft: Other than Forza 5 and Halo, nothing else that M$ had shown yesterday made me go, "I need to buy an Xbox One on launch". The exclusives they did have seem like games you would play for a week or two then never touch it again. Games like Crimsion Dragon, Ryse, Killer Instinct, World of Tanks (lol really?), Powerstar Golf?!, etc. Quantum Break looks interesting but we know nothing about the game other than it looks pretty to the eyes. These exclusives IMHO are nothing more than gimmicks. Yes they showcase the consoles power graphically but do you really see yourself playing these games day after day like you would confirmed PS4 launch titles like Killzone Shadow Fall and Driveclub? (I know those two games are a poor example to back up my point lol)

I don't care about T.V and how the Xbox One is going to revolutionize T.V as we know it. I barely watch any T.V as it is. I mainly watch sports and a few prime time shows during the fall season. I'll admit, what they're doing with sports T.V is really neat, but that's not going to get me to run out and drop $499 on a next gen console.

Nothing more I can really say about Microsoft. I'm just not interested in what they have to offer.

Sony: Sony on the other hand showed me why I want to buy a PS4. Their conference started out slow, I think everyone can agree with that. It seemed like they just threw the PS Vita and PS3 out there with no thought just to get to the PS4. But the titles coming out for both Vita and PS3 look impressive. Being able to stream PS4 games via wi-fi to my Vita is a huge deal to me and will most likely keep me from selling my Vita like I've wanted to for the last few months now. Beyond Two Souls looks like an insane game for the PS3 along with Gran Turismo 6. The future is bright for these two platforms.

But the PS4 just topped it all off for me. Killer exclusive titles IMO, games that I want to actually play and enjoy, not these games that seem just "off" for a lack of a better word that Microsoft showed. The Order 1886 looked really good. It's comparable to Quantum Break where as we don't know much about the games story, but it has me intrigued. Killzone Shadow Fall looks like it's coming along nicely as is the new inFamous game.

Other things that impressed me was Sony's commitment to indie developers. Games like Transistors that is going to be a game I will be all over, Blacklight Retribution is coming to consoles, Secret Ponchos, etc. Games such as the revival of Kingdom Hearts, Final Fantasy 15, Destiny (even though it's not console exclusive, content exclusivity will be huge for Sony), PS+ announcements, and the big announcements at the end....

The thing that annoys me the most is that Sony should never have had to tout no used game restrictions and no always online requirements yesterday as features. It's a joke as far as I'm concerned. Something we OWN, that we bought out right and then all of a sudden we can't do it anymore because Microsoft said so. Then they place it on the dev's by saying, "We are laying down the tools for developers to ban used games if they wish too." What do you think these devs/ publishers are going to do? Makes me shake my head. It's not that big of a deal to some people who are always connected and don't trade used games, but a lot of people DO trade games, a lot of people DO like to play 100% offline. I trade games often, and restricting a simple ability like trading in a game YOU bought doesn't sit right with me. It's wrong. I accepted online passes for MP, I accept DLC being announced before the game was even out, I accepted Season Passes for games, but what M$ has done and what M$ THINKS they can get away with is absurd. And you're finally seeing everyone voice their opinion and Sony has listened and now the ball is in Sony's court and it's their console generation to lose.

But Sony turned Microsoft's mistake into something they could use to ultimately win E3. Sony won back many people by saying two things that have been standard for years now. Combine that with a 399$ price point, I'm sold. Where can I go to give Sony my money? Microsoft and Sony have reversed roles. Microsoft is king at the moment and they think they can do whatever they like and the consumer will gobble it up like Sony thought back in 2006 with the PS3. Now Sony has finally learned from it's mistakes whereas Microsoft quite honestly has gotten full of themselves and has completely lost their identity.

I have no doubt the Xbox One will sell well don't get me wrong. But the PS4 has so many advantages going for it, it's a no brainer for me to get one. Amazing cross platform titles + amazing indie games + amazing PS4 exclusive titles. What's not to like about the PS4?

That's my general thoughts on E3 so far. Sorry if there is any grammar or spelling mistakes, woke up earlier than normal to watch Nintendo's BOREFEST of an E3 conference. If you can even call it one at that........

I thought they had booths set up over there and videos would be coming in by now.

According to their customer service, they put a hold on your account for that amount. So you're sort of charged, I guess.

I know this was awhile ago but....

They generally will run an authorization whether it be a dollar or 500 dollars to make sure the card is valid, that hold should fall off in about 4 days unless they continue to run.

It's not necessary since they run it again before shipping but they do it anyway.
