As a Wii U owner, that was incredibly disappointing. I guess we know why they didn't want the big stage. They had no surprises (not even a new Zelda title in the works!), and everything that we already knew was coming now isn't coming until 2014.

      Lame.

This is me. As I've posted once or twice already the answer to which console you buy is the one most of your friends buy. With them not reading much past the deluge of negative headlines it was already an uphill battle, after yesterday it was a lost war. We'll have a One eventually, but Sony won my friends, and as a result my business.

Well now, I just preordered both consoles from Amazon and one of them will be cancelled for sure there is no doubt. I don't want both and I will only go one this time around.

Xbox one- Here is my take, I think MS did a good job I didn't see anything wrong with what there trying to do, none of the things they are doing will effect me, I always have internet and I'm not really into selling games anymore. So I like there system and the price tag that includes the Kinect for $499 is not that big of a deal to me. I always liked MS and think the One will do fine. I think some of MS exclusive were nice yesterday and I'm sure there is more to come.

PS4- Of course Sony blew us away with the price and some games we know are just exclusive with Sony and that's no secret what they will be and what they are. I like the look of both systems and I'm sure we will be happy with either one we chose to buy. I would say I'm leaning towards the PS4 due to MLB the show, but that not set in stone yet. I like all the sharing options that Sony has added to there system. Cool features.

Anyway, I would say as of right now I'm 50/50 to tell you the truth. I wasn't a few weeks ago but after E3 I am, I'm not going to say I don't like what MS showed me with the one but I did like what I saw and I really like there design of there system. Ill pay the extra $100 for the new Kinect, I like what it has to offer.

Only more time will tell, Its just I'm a sports gamer and I think that's the Sports games will still be better on the One this go around.

I guess the Zelda title was indeed Wind Waker. Game looks great in HD.

Mega Man is cool, sure, but not enough to make me want a Wii U. I usually like Nintendo's offerings, but that was pretty sparse.

LOL at Retro working on another Donkey Kong game.

Monolith Soft's Project X and Bayonetta 2 looked great, but the best Nintendo continues to be the handheld Nintendo, by a huge margin.

Like you, I mostly play sports games. MLB The Show on the PS3 and pretty much every other sports title on the 360. The 360 controller just has a better feel compared to the DualShock 3. I've tried playing NBA 2K and NHL on the PS3 and there is a noticeable difference in the comfort level.

I'm waiting until next year before buying a system. I'd lean towards the PS4 because of The Show and remote play with my Vita. I just wish Sony's controller was a little more user-friendly.
                    Currently Playing:
                    MLB The Show 25 (PS5)

                      Re: E3 Discussion Thread

                      From PS4/X1 Threads....

To be honest, I felt fairly bored by Sony's E3 presentation the first 30 minutes or so. This is not the first year I have felt that way either with them. I feel like the Vita was crapped on for sure after last night. No price drop and then getting some games that we have had on consoles, etc. for a year to a few years now. That first 30 minutes or so felt like Sony was trying to rush through the Vita and PS3 to get to the PS4. It just had an odd pacing. I felt the same way with how the 360 was handled at the MSFT conference. It was like talked about for a few minutes and then they were done.

GT6 looked great, but if they can't match the Forza like career I don't care.

Beyond will be an amazing game for sure.

Kingdom Hearts 3 did grab my attention which is going to be a great game.

The Order is a day 1 purchase kind of game for sure.

On the Xbox 1 front, games like Quantum Break, Ryse, Forza 5, and Dead Rising 3 really grabbed my attention. I felt like their E3 presentation was a bit better than years past and for once it felt quite a bit structured, except for the 360 front which was rushed. But their policies and $100 price point will drive many to the other side of the fence.

I did pre-order the PS4 on Amazon just in case from a financial standpoint I decide to get it. The PS3 and PC can get me by to Spring if not early summer is I decide to just wait it out. Sony has made it a little hard to jump over right away due to new IP's coming to the PS3 in the fall and some amazing 3rd party support which might not be there in the first year for the PS4/X1.

Even worse, is that the X1 /360 as of now, doesn't have a baseball game for next year.....that would be a deal breaker for a lot of people.

Nintendo is done. They have a dying system that is desperately in need of games and not only are their major games not coming in the next couple months but they won't be out until next year. I have no idea what Nintendo has been doing. They had a year head start that they just squandered.

Oh and unless Microsoft backtracks significantly, this is Sony's cycle to lose. Every action Microsoft has take looks like they were making every move to counter month-old Sony rumors they read somewhere. Sony has been one step ahead of them since February. I have no idea what Microsoft was thinking with announcing a price so early, it was like they were proud that they were $500, and that price is going to kill them. None of the people I know outside of the internet talked or knew about DRM, all they talked about was how the ps4 was $100 cheaper than the Xbox.

If they priced it better, didnt have the restrictions on used and rented games and the stupid online 24hr policy, I probably would be buying their console.

                          PS3
                          PS Vita

Loved playing my friends' NES, Dreamcast, and 360 consoles (wasn't really a fan of GameCube or Wii).

There are three reasons why I think people become brand loyal. Two are kind of one-the-same, and one is kind of a B.S. reason but even I feel like it sometimes (try and guess which is which):

                          1) They are confident that what worked in the past will still work in the future. I can say there are things that I love about what Sony did this generation (Blu-ray, multimedia and online management, first-party exclusives, their controller, etc.) that I know will carry over to the future in such a way that would take a massive change to turn me away. I like sticking with tried and true. It's not quite an "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" mantra, but it runs along those lines because you're essentially supporting what you've appreciated in the past and letting them know that you'll appreciate them in the future if they stick with that.

                          2) You don't want to let what you have already owned go the way of the dodo. Most unfortunately this kind of becomes an issue with no BC, but the BC argument is one of the easiest ones to make if you want to go toward a console that supported it. I had faith that Sony was going to offer it again in the future with the PS3 (to no avail), but that's really a big part of it. We have invested so much money on a system, and we just hope that there's a way our new system can utilize that. A big thing for me will be that I own a Vita, and an X1 offers nothing for me to complement what I can self-admit is a handheld that while is so awesome, is dying a slow death. The PS4 can help revive it, and I really hope that it does, but people like me need the complementary PS4 to support it. That, Blu-ray (though X1 will have it), accessories, friends/online subscriptions, achievements/trophies, the Move/Kinect, etc. are things you just don't want to lose or let go to waste.

                          3) They are afraid of being wrong. People are egotistical in defending their initial call on something, and stray from hypocrisy by blind loyalty to their decision, and not necessarily so much the brand. This even is the same thing with umpires making a wrong call in a baseball game; no matter how wrong they are or they realize they are, they will become so defensive that they will eject people just to keep control on their side. I can admittedly name games, movies, restaurants, athletes and sports teams, etc. that I've done this with. Normally, if you hold out long enough, they'll prove themselves to you so you can rest assured in the end. Sometimes they won't, though.

All of these things factor into the "brand loyalty" thing. Sometimes it's not really the brand or the brand name, but it's just these particulars that make you stick with Brand X. And it's funny, because I don't care much about Sony outside of gaming, yet I extremely care about Microsoft in computing and Samsung in televisions, etc. It's only brand loyalty for the three reasons that I listed above, and there really isn't another reason for why I get what I get.

There is one other ridiculous reason, and that is because they don't want to see something else succeed, like me and Apple. I don't own a single Apple product. You don't want dominance to eventually become monopolization, which is why a lot of people want to see Madden fail as well. Some of us just need 2K football to return, though it might not ever happen. We'll attack things so tremendously that we'll eventually hate it whether we want to or not.

For the record, while I was in college, I told myself for months (I bet I'll find posts on here which say it) that I was going to get a 360. I seem to remember the only reason I said that was because I bought a VGA cable for my roommate so we could play in HD, and by summer's end when I took that home I didn't want that $40 product to go to waste (reason #2). As it turned out, that was a stupid reason for me to make that a last-straw decision to go with 360 when I knew in my heart there were so many things I needed out of PS3.

I simply can't find any reason to go with X1, not even if somebody gave the system to me for free (after having a PS4). That would require that I heavily invest time and money into it when I have something alongside it that I feel I would enjoy investing more time and money into. It will be PS4 for me, and although I will consider myself a PlayStation fanboy, I am in no way a Sony fanboy.

EDIT: Actually, right now I'm a PlayStation 3 fanboy for the reasons I listed above. This is why I haven't already pre-ordered PS4 and am not planning on getting it this year. Right now, you'll see me show blind homerism toward the PS3 the rest of the year, and you'll see me defend it outright, even above PS4 (as far as why I should own it and have it). This would be a good example of reason #3, people not wanting to be wrong. I'm just not ready for a PS4 and I think that PS3 and the titles I have will still have life in them. It's just not time for me to give up that stuff yet, so I'm not yet going to take the plunge.

For me I just can't drop MS especially after all the time I've invested with them. My positive experiences with MS out weight any negative.

Didn't they say you can only "transfer" the game once? So once you lend the game to your friend its now theirs.

                              My thoughts are basically this:

MS's games looked cool, but the concepts and premise didn't feel fresh or "next gen." None of the games really hooked me other than Forza, but that's only because I enjoy the series more than anything else. Their presentation felt "small" on quality, but big on production which makes sense considering they've had their big reveal and fallout.

I've not been a Halo gamer since the first title so all the Halo stuff doesn't interest me. Quantum Break and Project Spark look the most interesting to me as far as exclusives go. Titanfall looks like an addictive online player, but with it coming to 360 too and BF4 being multi-plat (and a Star Wars: Battlefront announcement) doesn't make it a system seller for me.

The updates to Live are awesome and I love that it includes the 360.

The 360 has been great, but I can't justify my past pleasure as a feather in MS' cap enough to trump what the PS4 did last night.

I liked the PS4 conference. The PS3 and Vita stuff felt brushed aside, but who wasn't expecting that? PS4 was the main event.

The games looked great. I enjoyed the variety of the new IPs which is something I've become disenchanted with the 360 by is the true lack of variety especially as far as platforming and action-adventure games are concerned. The Order is a system-seller for me - that has captured me. The Dark Sorcerer tech-demo was hilarious. The NBA 2k thing just made NBA Live look like baby's toys.

I love the indie support they game. They did more than MS's lip-service and put them front and center for a good portion. The big kick is the ones they showed we will get for free with purchase of PS4/PS+. Excellent.

Being able to stream PS3 games via the cloud is awesome.

For me the games really captured my interest a lot more than MS' presser did. Then Sony just wheeled in a truck full of dynamite and light the fuse:

                              Used games/rentals/lending left untouched.
No internet restrictions and forced check-ins.
                              No required camera.
                              $100 less.

I don't think it can be any clearer for me personally.

Anybody have a list of the full launch titles? Exclusives?

I go with whoever has the best price and best features. I got the 360 at launch but I'm not sad because I'm not getting the 1 at launch this time. Thats MS' fault. If they priced it better, didnt have the restrictions on used and rented games and the stupid online 24hr policy, I probably would be buying their console.
                                Mine:

                                GameBoy
                                NES
                                SNES
                                Virtual Boy (LOL)
                                N64
                                Playstation
                                Playstation 2
                                PSP
                                Playstation 3
                                PS Vita

I don't have brand loyalty to a certain console maker, but I do have loyalty to the games I want to play and the developers who make them. The obvious break from Nintendo came with the Final Fantasy series, and that, at least in the beginning, is why I went Sony and haven't looked back.
