Any experience with those? I don't know if my basic cable would be recognized by it, but it'd be a cheaper way to upgrade eventually to DVR if i wanted...

So many options. I'm tempted to just get it working with the Xbox One Tuner, but i'd have to figure out my house wiring...

I really need to call cable company and see what my price will drop down to...

I do find that things don't always want to work perfectly, so might have to buy something and test it out.
Yeah, they were the most popular OTA STBs on Xbox One before our tuner announce. They have DVR, but they don't get as many channels as our tuner. Sometimes it's a few less, other times it's like 10s less channels. Not sure why. They also aren't supported well.

However, with all that said, they are the best STBs in their category outside of the TiVo box (that you have to pay a sub for).

?Ask me about the Xbox Ally handheld - I'm on the team that made it.

Gotcha....at least now I know my options.

I checked out their forums and can see about the support. Need to figure out the cable bill, then I might try buying one based on some options and returning it if need be.

The DVR option would be cool, but rumors are Xbox gets more DVR stuff sometime (plus if it can pause it could record...) so fingers crossed lol

The only upside would be that it could POSSIBLY pull in the basic cable channels, which the Xbox tuner isn't able to do apparently.

For the Tivo would it be the Premium XL or something like that?

I think it's called the TiVo Roamia OTA box. However, I don't know if paying $14.99 a month just so you can get guide data and record OTA channels is worth it. Definitely probably the best experience on an OTA box though.

Yeah...haven't seen those cheaper yet, but makes sense.

Found my cable junction box, so i could just add an antenna fairly easily.

I'll have to investigate the boxes further and figure out what i'd want to do.

I just got my IR emitter in the mail, but something I didn't think of was how your DVR works with live TV and OneGuide? Can I still access it somehow and play my shows I've recorded through my Xbox?

We don't have native DVR access from STBs on Xbox One. The best thing you can do is use SmartGlass as a universal remote control. So you can still do passthrough and use your phone to navigate your DVR and get your recordings.

I do this with my TiVo HD at home.

I remember too that SmartGlass can have a "Menu" type button, that on my STB opened up a menu that had "DVR" as an option (vs. not having the DVR button directly). I forget if it was smartglass or my old Harmony remote I tried out, but that gave me a backdoor into DVR, then I could select and use up and down just fine.

                  Studbucket,

I'd pm, but figure probably useful for others...I think I'm picking up one of the Mediasonic boxes (either the HW-150 or the HW-180) to do a test on OTA stuff...

Eventually I could see getting the MS one, especially if they add DVR, but for now I can get one of these boxes on Amazon for like 32-35 bucks, so I could outfit both tv's pretty easily.

I saw during my google searches that you were commenting on stuff for each, didn't know if either box was better than the other. I have a post on the Mediasonic Xbox forum, but thought I'd check with you as well...

I've been more impressed by the 150 than the 180. Hold off on getting one though, I feel like there's a better OTA DVR solution that I came across. Let me get back to you.

BTW, funny that while searching for this, you basically find me posting elsewhere

I found that amusing as well....

I'll wait for your input, not in a rush and Gamescom is tomorrow, maybe Phil will announce something.

More just know i'll need some sort of OTA, but was on the fence about those boxes anyways. I'd rather do the more expensive MS ones (even if I don't add on a HD right away) and build that up over time...The streaming to PC/phone would be cool as well. DVR is just the main hangup, would like it to be an option just in case we want to record OTA that way, even though I think we'll end up using Hulu/Sling and be ok

So I was being cheeky. Xbox One is going to be a DVR, and we announced that this AM at GamesCom.

                            Thanks!

Makes more sense to get the TV Tuners at a little more and save up for an external hard drive. I'd have to buy the hard drives with the other option anyways, so rather have it all baked into one box.

Dual tuners would be nice, but wishful thinking lol.

I see you can stream to various devices (smartglass, windows 10), could I stream to another Xbox One or no? Just wondering...I'd probably end up with a HD on both, but if I recorded downstairs and wanted to watch upstairs would be a cool option.
