I would think that DVR would sell some consoles. I know I'd buy a second XB1 if it had DVR.

Cortana hears me perfectly, but won't change to Nick Jr or Disney Jr...just says watch tv. Watch Espn works...any way to get it to recognize all channels?

Have you tried manually tuning to those channels or putting them in favorites?

Manually tuning didn't make a difference...I think they're already favorites, but I'll check...in theory I should be able to change to any channel by voice right?

I'll calibrate eventually (my kid's always insane about Daddy when I get home, so tough) and tinker....maybe eventually it'll work better.

I will say that Cortana understands/hears way better than the old way.

It's also funny when you use her to turn off the xbox and she says "It's been real" lol My wife wanted to be able to turn it off by telling Cortana it's been real!

I used to be able to skip forward/back on directv with the bumpers or by pressing A and choosing the skip icons. Those no longer work. Is this a known issue? All other commands work just fine including fast forward and rewind.

No, not a known issue. Can you let me know your box's make and model? When did it stop working?

Here is a bit of a long response -

It doesn't work on the Genie, DirecTv HR34 (HR34-700) in the family room. The XBO in that room was in the in preview program, it did work when Cortana was first introduced to preview members, in June sometime? (I remember trying "Hey Cortana, skip forward 6 times"...because I wanted to see if it was possible. She heard me, but it only skipped forward a single time.) I remember the skipping forward first not work about two to three weeks ago (though I don't usually use voice/controller for tv skipping, so hard to pinpoint exactly when it started.)

Fast forward to today, that XBO is now in the bedroom with a Genie Mini C41 (C41-100). The skip forward works there along with another XBO in the 4 seasons room with the same model. I have a new XBO-S in the family room, and the same issue persists with skipping forward on the HR34.

The odd thing is all the receivers use the same physical remotes and the XBO's detect the same remote code (s3177) for all of them, so in theory it should work right? Since skip forward works on the C41's, I tried manually entering the models (I tried C41, C41100, HR34, HR34700) on the XBO-S but none of those worked. This receiver is about 4 years old now so I'd think maybe it is going bad, but it still works fine with the DirecTv remote.

And additionally a separate issue for both XBO with the Genie Mini C41 connected...about 50-75% of the time when I power on the XBO, one guide says "No TV signal detected" (or whatever the message is) even though the receiver does turn on. To fix I need to power off and back on the receiver or unplug and re-plug the hdmi cable. It started about 2-3 months ago in the 4 seasons room, and now happens in the bedroom since moving the XBO in there a week ago.

Re: Questions About Live TV on Xbox One?

Let me recap to make sure I understand.

                        You have 2 Xbox Ones:
                        1) Bedroom (formerly family room)
                        2) Family room (Xbox One S)

You are in the Preview program on the Bedroom Xbox. Are you in it for the Xbox One S as well?

Skipping forward/backward first stopped working with the Bedroom Xbox (then in the family room) and the HR34 in mid July. However, skip forward works fine since you've moved that Xbox into the bedroom with the Mini (C41)?

The slim Xbox in the family room works great, except that skip forward/back doesn't work with the HR34, just like it started 3 weeks ago with the first Xbox?

As a separate issue, and only with the mini (C41), you are getting no signal screen and it won't go away until you renegotiate the HDMI connection?

-Xbox one S is not in the preview program.
-For the first Xbox, the skipping stopped working on the HR34 but now works fine on the C41 in the bedroom.
-Skipping still doesnt work on the HR34 with the Xbox One S.
-The no signal screen is only with the C41, it started on a third console about three months ago, and now is repeated on the one I just moved to the bedroom.

                          Summary:

                          4 Xbox Ones
                          1) Bedroom (formerly family room) - before moving here it had the skip forward/back issues on the HR34 in the family room. Now it gets the no signal screen with C41 after moving it to the bedroom last week. However it skips forward/back just fine on the C41.

                          2) Family room (Xbox One S) - skip forward/back issues with HR34, not in preview program.

                          3) 4 seasons room - no signal screen with C41, started about 3 months ago. I thought it was an issue with the setup in this room (mostly ignored because if in this room I am usually reading) until it was repeated last week in the bedroom on Xbox #1.

                          4) office - the C41 in this room is connected to a separate monitor 99% of the time, the few times i switched the HDMI to go through the Xbox I didn't have the issue. But that likely is because both were already on when I made the HDMI connection switch.

Ugh now another issue. The media remote works fine in the family room (outside of the aforementioned skip issues on that receiver.) When I set up the tv in the bedroom, it sent the mute and volume down commands successfully. But using the media remote the volume doesnt work, though mute works fine. Everything is breaking!!
