Re: Owners of both PS4 and Xbox One: Pros and Cons

With tax returns coming back. I was going to purchace one or the other. I am not trying to phrase my questions as to which I should get, I am trying to see which is best for me depending on how my questions are answered.

As a Vita owner, how does that work with cross play. You can play ps4 games on the Vita screen? How does that work with less buttons on the Vita?

You can access your PS4 using your Vita over the internet if you leave your PS4 in standby mode. You can play all of your digital games or disc that is in the machine. It's very smooth as long as you have a strong internet connection.

The button placement can be a small pain and it's better for some games than other. Overall it's one of the coolest features i've seen in a long time and it adds a lot of value to the Vita.

I was very tempted by this feature, and sounds pretty cool.

I ended up favoring the Xbox One's TV stuff (and I do enjoy it), but the Vita play sounded fun.

I'm hopeful someone will come out with a grip that adds l2/r2 triggers that when pressed touches the rear pad. Then I would use remote play a lot...

I had my friday laugh today, 4 buddies in group text going over end of the world plans if the grid goes down. Where we meeting at, where we heading to, etc. I was crying at work laughing so hard it was so silly and stupid.

For one, every time you join a party you have to turn on party chat seperately.

For games like Forza when creating your own private race with friends you have to invite people into your party then in to the game for them to be able to join. You can't just send them an invite to join the game. (I guess that's more Turn 10s fault than MS but it's still a pain in the ***)

I'm a sucker for stuff like this. The fact that I have to stay at my in laws tonight is much easier to swallow knowing I can play Outlast 40 miles away from my PS4.

I enjoy my Xbox 1 but PS+ is one of the best values in gaming history especially if you have a Vita. I was going to sell my PS4 pre-order before launch and now I'm considering buying all my single player games on PS4.

I received an XBone yesterday after having a PS4 since its launch & boy I tell you I am not impressed. Played DeadRising3 da'day because I'm on the east coast & we had heavy snow. I don't like DeadRising3 but I won't bash it. I'm gonna' return it & try out Ryse da'morrow. If you all have ANY ideas for me to have more fun with it, it is greatly appreciated. Also, I can't even get the SmartGlass app to connect to the XBone.

Make sure you download the xbox one version of the smartglass app. The 360 version won't work.

Re: Owners of both PS4 and Xbox One: Pros and Cons

As an owner of both, I'd have to say that

                                1) I like the PS4 better 'out of the box'
                                2) The Kinect is 100x better than before
                                3) Dual ownership will definitely be worthwhile in the future

Just to clarify, it isn't a huge difference for me. I did buy a PS4 first, and ended up coming into some extra money (rather a credit card with 0% APR for a year) and since the XB0 was on my radar, I decided it wouldn't make a difference if I bought it now or 6 months from now given I can pay it off within the same time frame and not get charged extra.

                                Anyways,

The PS4 right out of the box was nicer for more, it just was so much smoother to get into the games and get everything established and ready to go, where as it took me about a hour to set up my Xbox one, the live, the kinect and the tv tuner, which is admittedly more than what you have to for the PS4, but still.

It took about another 30 minutes for DR3 to download enough so that I could play it, than got stuck at an invisible wall for another hour while it downloaded enough to continue playing through the tutorial. It's nice to be able to play while it installs (some Ps4 games do allow this, namely 2K14) but I feel the process is substantially faster on the 4 than the one. (Entirely opinionated! I haven't run both yet as I'm not going to buy the same game on two seperate consoles.)

Now, sounds like a lot of negatives for the one right?

While getting into the second point, the Kinect isn't perfect, and while some of the issues may be sound collusion mixed with it being next to my sound bar / tv, it does perform about 80% of the time, which for something that can be patched and tuned, is not bad at all. It's features are nice, and while they aren't game changing to me, it is nice to not have to feel around for a controller in the middle of the night while I'm watching Netflix, the convenience is definitely nice.

Finally to the third point, I do believe both systems definitely have excellent merits for dual ownership in the future, but in the current time the exclusives unless you have more than enough income to purchase both don't warrant purchasing both at the same time.

Dead Rising 3 is fun, as is Forza but neither blew me away (in the sense that I couldn't put it down [full disclosure: Forza is a game that takes some time adjusting and I haven't taken that time yet] and Ryse I've heard is average to good depending on tastes.

Knack wasn't very good so I'd definitely put it on par with Ryse as it is a repetitive combat game that you'll either think is okay or love. Killzone will likely compliment One's Titanfall being that it is a great multiplayer game but the single player is 'meh' (titanfall not having single player).

So while I may seem critical of the one, I did buy one and it definitely has it's merits and I'm enjoying the dual ownership, but I'd say really unless you have a strong desire to, just buy one for the time being, give until September than purchase the other when there are more titles and namely exclusives.

And since the one seemed to not have transferred my friends list from my 360 account, I have an empty friends list, so if anyone wants to add me on the one, it's Chicubz52, as I've said I have Forza and Dead Rising 3!
