Re: Owners of both PS4 and Xbox One: Pros and Cons

I had both on pre-order but didn't want to drop a grand in a matter of two weeks. I can't roll like my man FLIGHTWHITE who I still think has connections to the mob. He's OS's Nino Brown lol.

So I grabbed my PS4 first. Reason being that for me there are no launch titles for either system that scream buy me. For myself personally my three favorite games on next gen launch are all third party titles. 2k, BF4, and Madden.

So then I started thinking about Titanfall though. But I have a pretty high end gaming PC so I have Titanfall covered there. I didn't want MLB The Show to hit in March and me not have a system to play it on.

Will I own both systems? Of course because I'm addicted to games like Pookie to crack... but I don't think there will be a reason for myself to snatch up the X1 until a must have exclusive hits. It's kinda like what I did for last gen, but in reverse. Got the Xbox first..then Got my PS3 when The Show hit.

But all in all... the pros and cons to the systems are insignifigant to me. It all depends on what you want out of a system but the games are pretty much going to look and play the same for the most part. I would say if you own both, and they both WORK.. then its a win LOL

I don't see the point of owning both systems and buying the same games for both. Wasting money?

Well, buying the same games for both is certainly the definition of wasting money, I'm not sure who's said they're doing that. Plenty of reasons to want to own both otherwise though.

Re: Owners of both PS4 and Xbox One: Pros and Cons

The funny thing was, for me, Microsoft lost my sale rather than the PS4 earning it. between the previous generation, I preferred the 360 over the PS3 and had every intent on picking up the Xbox One until I heard that their price would be $100 more expensive for slightly inferior hardware specs, and then finally, the fact that they do not have a baseball solution...really just completely sealed the deal.

When you add these things up, it almost doesn't make sense not to choose the PS4

Altho, there is still something inside me whispering for me to open up the XBOX One I happened to just purchase too (Im weak....I may buckle and keep them both)

Overall though, if you're not worried about PS4 exclusives, the XB1 is easily the more sturdy and put together system when looking at it in terms of noise, heat dissipation, etc.

In terms of gaming, it looks like the PS4 is slightly more powerful... or at least developers have been able to optimize their games for Sony's system.

If you're ONLY going to be gaming - the PS4 is a clear-cut winner. If you want to do more, I would be investing in the XB1. It's an entertainment centerpiece that the PS4 could have been, much like the PS3 tried to be.
PS4 remote play has me intrigued....

Otherwise I think the Vita is better for me now. I'm married, kid on the way, and lose the tv a lot. The entertainment features make this a much more used living room addition.

A PS4 Vita bundle has me pondering though....then I could play PS4 anywhere....

I've been using remote play the last hour and love it.

Just found a clippers game on in an odd afternoon time so I turned on vita remote play and played 2k14 while the clips game was on.

That's just one scenario where it can be used among many. I actually prefer this over pip since I can take it wherever I want around the house.. in the next room talking to the wife or in the bathroom or whatever lol

I really really want a Vita just to use remote play.

My only concern was the lag, which seems to be a non-issue, and how controls would translate. I read the triggers are used by swiping the back of the Vita. Sounds really strange and would make the game tough to play IMO.

                Any issues 23?

Wasnt any lag for me but since it was the first time trying to play 2k i had to get used to the different controls. Find a way to hook the ds4 to this thing or even a 4 trigger grip and it s gold.

Same with the live demo but of course that game feels worse control wise. Actually that game looks like a psp game more than a game for the console.

I want to try assasins creed and bf4 too but the battery drained. Its been on standby for at least a week and I didn't realize it.

Great thread. I'm wondering if you guys that have both had to choose only one, which one would you keep? I have the ps4 and haven't picked up my preorder from bestbuy yet.

If only Nintendo was on the same page as these guys power wise and had the same guaranteed third party support. It wouldn't even be a question with the exclusives.

                          I would disagree here.

Here is the PS4's heat and sound stats:

And here is the Xbox One equivalent:

The Xbox One runs hotter under load while also drawing less power, despite being designed large in size in order to avoid heat problems again and having a large external power brick.

The 1dB of difference in noise is barely perceptible, unless you have your ear up to the machine or are a dog/cat.

If you look at the device teardowns, Microsoft didn't even bother to put a huge heatsink for their CPU. Unlike choosing a beefy bastard like a Noctua C14, they went with a really thin low profile cooler and a very big duct. The fan is like twice the height of the heatsink and 1/4 of it is some plastic duct. This leads to it dissipating the heat slower than the PS4, leading to higher temperatures.

If they're going to do it like this, of course its not going to be realistically quieter than the PS4, which has what seems to be a vapour chamber heatsink that is attached to the large metal EMI shield via heatpipes.

I'm of the opinion that the engineers over at Sony are wizards to make this thing so small, effective at keeping cool and still manage to find a way to cram an internal power supply in there.

A bit off topic, but I figured this would be the best place to get an answer...Im in the process of getting both systems, which games would you recommend for each system? Thanks.

We know our gadgets and the XB1 is that.

I just wish that the PS4 was backwards compatible with certain ps3 games esp GTA5 that would be amazing
