Re: Owners of both PS4 and Xbox One: Pros and Cons

So much anger in this thread.

The biggest factor between the systems is where your friends play unless you only play single player games. Everything else is window dressing.

The truth is the next gen has been pretty awful for both consoles. The fact that many people feel DA: Inquisition was the game of the year shows you that. Nothing against that game(I enjoyed it) but its nothing special.

The reason I judge the PS4 more harshly is Sony was boasting REALLY hard about how the PS4 is the gamers console, we don't require an internet connection, etc. Without even comparing their lineup to the XB1's the PS4 has a terrible library of games, especially considering how far we are from release at this point.

All that PR crap Sony stirred up about DRM and not being always online was a joke. Both consoles ABSOLUTELY require an internet connection. I feel really terrible for the guy that bought a game like AC: Unity that doesn't have access to the internet.

I agree so much anger in this thread. Some people need to get out and get laid instead of arguing over consoles.

No anger from me. Don't play online but im pretty sure Xbox One is the better console in that regard. Dragon Age being game of the year just proves what you said...that 2014 was a pretty awful year. Of course, the funny thing is that a lot of sites that awarded Dragon Age game of the year gave other games higher ratings. To me, my game of the year is always the highest rated game that I have completed for that year. After all, if im giving a game that's not my highest rated game, game of the year, a simply question would have to be answered - how did a lower rated game get game of the year? If it's game of the year, it should be rated higher. At least, that's how I am when reviewing and rating my own completed games.

BOTH consoles have an average at best lineup of games and if you subtract third party support, both consoles would have been dead on arrival. I honestly don't see how Xbox One has a better library of games when they're basically both the same excluding the second party exclusives and console exclusives. And even then, both are average at best. Neither console has released any exclusive that has been worth buying the console for and while that will most likely change this year, it won't be until the end of the year.

I understand what you're saying in regards to the internet connection but what Sony was trying to say is that you don't need an internet connection to play the games. The original plan for Xbox One was that if you weren't connected online, you wouldn't be able to play games AT ALL.

If I didn't have an internet connection, I would just play the games out of the case as is. Granted, a game like Unity would have been better with patches but at the same time, waiting two months for them all just to play the game isn't worth the wait in my opinion. For me, the internet connection is more for the PSN and Indie games that im waiting to get released.

I wasn't comparing the PS4's library to the XB1. I'm judging it on its own. Its bad.

I know what Sony was trying to say, they wanted to get the crowd at E3 to cheer and they did it. It was ridiculous boasting. The PS4 and XB1 require an internet connection. End of story.

If the PS4 game library is bad, so is Xbox One.

To me, neither require an internet connection simply because you can still play the games as they are when released. It wasn't ridiculous boasting. It was smart business wise. Microsoft screwed up at 2013 E3 and Sony simply took advantage of it. If the roles were reversed, Microsoft would have done the same thing.

And to be perfectly honest, if it wasn't for Xbox Live and the success of it, the internet connection would be nothing more than an option but due to it's success, it allows publishers to release games that aren't ready to be released. If anything, in many ways, gaming is worse now as opposed to pre-PS2/Xbox because so much of gaming revolves around an internet connection and im sorry, I shouldn't need an internet connection to play any game regardless of the console especially when nearly every game is $60 at launch and the consoles range from $350-$500 between launch and now.

I haven't mentioned the XB1's library at all. It doesn't have anything to do with what I'm saying.

Re: Owners of both PS4 and Xbox One: Pros and Cons

Why do people even enjoy debating what console is best anymore ? We all work for our money (Well, most of us).. why should anyone really care what someone on the internet thinks about the way they spend their money ?

The One, PS4, and Wii U are all excellent consoles that have a pretty solid lineup of games right now and it's going to get A LOT better. It may just be me personally, but If I was to the point of saying that the current consoles lack valuable games or the selection is bad then I would know it was time for me to pack it up and quit gaming all together.

Most of us started with an NES, SNES, Genesis, etc. Then the old folks can tell us about days rougher than those, but little kid me who had to wedge a piece of cardboard in my NES to get ExciteBike to play would love today's games. I haven't forgotten how it used to be.

Gaming is supposed to be about fun and entertainment, not about what's better than what. It's not even worth debating. Just enjoy the console of your choice and leave it at that.

This was a pretty general post aimed at no one in particular.. just OS and the internet in general.

Man, you summed up my feelings, perfectly. At this point, you will be well served by the XB1 or PS4. Lots of good games and fun times to be had on both consoles. There's really nothing to argue about.

AUChase nailed it. Both consoles Pros: tons of fun to be had. Cons: tons of fun will take up a lot of your time. What it boils down to: if you want the TV/ media stuff the one is for you. If that stuff doesn't matter grab the 4.

Exactly AUChase and JMD....what I say all along. Xbox One has the TV (and now future PC streaming stuff), PS4 has remote play and a slight lead in performance on games.

Essentially they have similar libraries, with the exclusives being the difference. Both have (or will have) great exclusives, just depends on your tastes.

I just don't like it when someone says that either console's library is bad but yet the other console's library is good or acts like it's good. Both consoles are better than what 360/PS3 were their first year in but at the same time, there's nothing that truly stands out and warrants a purchase for either console. Too many remastered, definitive editions, etc. in general and it doesn't look like they're slowing down at all. In the end, it's also based on personal preference.

Another factor is that there were a lot of games that were scheduled to be released in 2014 but were delayed to 2015.

                          -The Order: 1886
                          -The Witcher 3
                          -Batman: Arkham Knight

There were a few others but those three right there would have made 2014 far better than what it was. Sony and Microsoft can't do anything about delays when it comes to third party games and in regards to delaying their own games, if a game isn't 100% ready, it should always be delayed.

To me, the Wii U has the best exclusive lineup thus far but no third party support. PS4 and Xbox One is the opposite as of right now.

You're not reading my posts. I've made no comment on the XB1's library. lol

Ricky, Nintendo has always had the best exclusives. Thats why its so aggravating they don't release a real game console. If it was the Nintendo XB1 or Nintendo PS4 with their exclusives, they'd be running away with the "console wars".
