Yeah, I could see myself getting the other in 4ish years, even though I don't plan on it now.

For now though I'm rolling with one, and I think I'm picking Xbox One. I'm mostly a offline gamer now, my wife is interested with the voice stuff, and I think the entertainment aspects will get used more now that I don't game like I was single.

If I was a single mid 20's guy I'd get PS4 in a heartbeat though lol.

It's such a tough choice though, they're both amazing systems.

You can be watching Netflix or Youtube pretty quickly while watching TV rather than having to wait for a different streaming box to pop up...
All true, and I do utilize it, but it doesn't grab me the way I thought it would. Understand though, I don't hate the Xbox One, just the opposite. I was simply stating my opinion on that facet of the system. Most seem to be enjoying that aspect of it quite a bit - just not me.

Yeah the same for me Flight - after spending the last 5 years using the 360 as my go to console, it's weird to jump on there and see so many of my friends accounts just dormant.

Yeah, I totally get you....it's not a universal feature, some will like it more than others.

          They're both awesome systems.

I run everything through my Sony DCC and have never had a problem with PiP not working with.....cable/computer/PS3/XBox360 ...heck...it even has a built in AM/FM receiver and Sirius/XM as well.
I can even swap out whatever two things I have going from main screen to PiP screen with no problem.

How is yours set up that you don't have it work sometimes if you don't mind me asking?....directly to the monitor?

Do you have your genie remote mode set to RF, if you do that's why the kinect ir won't turn it on, you have to change the remote mode to ir.

You actually agree. When you are playing, you don't notice a difference. It's the same thing. Yes, there is a difference. But you have to make it a point to actually look for them.

But it controls the receiver through HDMI. Not IR. Figured out what was going on. It works as intended. It's just limited. It can't turn on the receiver when it'd already on.

                    Or am I missing something?

It controls it through IR. Yeah, the Xbox isn't going to assume it is off when it isn't getting a signal from it and try to turn it on.

What's killing me is BF4. That one game alone is what I miss most on PS4. It just plays better on that console IMO. All the other games I feel play/control better on Xbone

I have to agree on the BF4 statement... HAHA you sold your PS4 ... I was wondering how come I don't see any updates from you on my friends list LOL. But I checked out BF4 on a friends XB1, I have to say I immediately wanted to go back to it on my PS4. Hard to explain but it just feels better and different on the PS4.

I still have my PS4... and will eventually get the XB1 but I needed to pick just one right now and if I had got the XB1 (which has no exclusives I really wanted at launch, neither system actually) I would be crying in March when Id be lurking in the MLB The Show forums... MLB The Show is the game that actually forced me to buy a PS3 back in the day.

Yeah. Used the $500 on the system. We made the exchange at the store after verifying the card in store

That disappointing, because I really liked BF4 on PS4 and was thinking about picking up for the XBone.

Might just wait for Titanfall now.

Re: Owners of both PS4 and Xbox One: Pros and Cons

Let me preface this by saying you wont go wrong with either system, no matter which you choose.

I preferred the Xbox and 360 to the PS2 and PS3 respectively for the past 2 generations, and my PS3 played more BluRays than games.

However, for this generation the majority of us prefer the PS4 for several reasons.

I hate the Kinect, literally can not stand it...nor do I like the Eye either. Microsoft puts a lot of pressure on companies to make their games have features that utilize the Kinect, whereas I have yet to see any pressure from Sony to incorporate any features of the Eye into any games unless there is a need / want to.

Just like all the gimmicks across multiple systems spanning all the way back to the NES that I was personally a part of, these gimmick controllers, peripherals , etc etc have been nothing more than a waste of time and a headache. Even when trying to make DS games, having that secondary screen was supposed to be some sort of revolutionary feature, yet it turned out to be nothing more than a map / inventory screen for 90% of applications.

Trying to figure out innovative ways to feature the Kinect / Eye into most programs takes a ton of time and resources, and the majority of the time its such a gimmick in the first place, no one uses it anyways.

This isn't the Sega vs Nintendo days where each system has a gaggle of exclusives and didnt share the same library, over 90% of all titles are going to be multi-platform anyways between the PC , Xbox, and PS4.

Its not possible to come to a consensus and get people to agree one which system is "better". If you want an Xbox, get it and don't worry about the PS4 threads. If you like the PS4, don't worry about the Xbox threads. Each group will try to convince you that one is superior over the other.

You literally have to put games side by side and in some cases be told what to look for in noticing a difference between the two systems. Not many people will have 2 systems, 2 games, 2 TVs, all side by side in the same room to compare.

Its easier to work with the PS4 so the majority of titles will be made for the PS4 first and then ported over to the One. A few minor things may end up left out during the porting process due to certain limitations and lack of indepth knowledge of each system, but it wont be anything monumental.

Both systems have lack luster launch games due to the fact both companies offered stipends just to get the games into the launch window. You have an already installed base of 160m current gen consoles on the market to peddle your product to, so there wasn't very much incentive to put full development teams behind titles that you knew would have a tiny market to sell to. First party companies were the only ones that really needed to come out swinging on initial launch.

I know for the development crowd, most are preferring the PS4 this go around, but by no means does that mean the One is any less capable of being a great gaming system. At the end of the day, youll be able to play about 90% of all games on each system either way, just don't get caught up in the "my dad can beat up your dad" arguments that each side will have to justify their position. Pick a system and have a great time!
