IMO the games keep getting better all the time niggling problems aside. I haven't gotten the PS4 yet but I plan on upgrading as soon as The Show makes it impossible to keep playing the older versions. Not there yet at least for me.

Re: Is Last Gen Your Last Console?
It is for me. I barely turn on my PS3 now. And from what I've seen, sports games, my only genre, are pretty blah thus far.Comment

Re: Is Last Gen Your Last Console?
That's why I haven't upgraded yet. I play The Show NHL Hockey and 2k BB.
Aside from that I play stuff like GTA Uncharted and a few other blockbuster or sandbox type games. No blockbuster titles yet no reason for me to spend $360 on a new console.Comment

Re: Is Last Gen Your Last Console?
That's up to the game developers. Like you, I am mostly a sports gamer. I have not seen a single reason to switch to the next generation yet. Games on my 360 (and even my Vita) are plenty pretty, so just making them look even better serves no purpose (for me). Unless the game developers actually improve the games, I'll just be playing my 360 and my Vita. The best example of this is the NHL series, which as far as I am concerned has been stale since NHL 10. Also, games now seem to focus more on the online aspect, of which I have no interest. I just want my single player offline franchise, so I can escape from everyday stress into my sporting universe for a bit.Comment

Re: Is Last Gen Your Last Console?
Yeah I think so. I made that decision when I got my first decent gaming PC. I miss football sometimes, but I had been jaded by EA's offerings last gen anyway so it's not too big a deal. I'd still buy day one if they ever released Madden on PC though, jaded or not.PS: You guys are great.

Re: Is Last Gen Your Last Console?
Currently - yes, I'm sticking with 360 with no plans of upgrading. But that's open to change. Regardless of other factors, I'll be waiting on a price drop. Don't care if it's another year or two, I'll be patient.
The TV integration with Xbox One is cool but I thought it replaced your STB like an HTPC would - you'd just pop in your cable card and be done with it. I just recently read that you still need an STB (shows how little I've followed console news). Also, full DVR integration is something I'm hoping/waiting for.
If NCAA Football makes a return (which I think it will eventually) or Madden ever turns into a decent game (I'm not holding my breath) it'll make me much more likely to move to next gen. If College Hoops was ever resurrected I'd drop what I was doing and go buy a next gen console. Until one or more of those three conditions are met there's zero chance that I'm buying an Xbox 1.
Ultimately, I'm still a sports gamer by and large and IMO there's just one sports game worth playing on Xbox One and that's NBA2K. I'm not a soccer fan, haven't followed baseball in years so The Show doesn't appeal to me. I still rarely play non-sports games. I can't spend ~$400 just to play NBA2K. However, the ultimate test for me will be when RDR's sequel drops. That will take quite a bit of self control to not upgrade then."You make your name in the regular season, and your fame in the postseason." - Clyde Frazier

Re: Is Last Gen Your Last Console?
As a PS4 owner, obviously not. Will be buying Xbox One soon and eventually Wii U. I still own Xbox 360 and want to buy PS3 again but will wait until Sony clears it out for $100.
The generation of gaming that would be my last will be when the next generation of consoles goes all digital. When that happens, im done.Comment

Re: Is Last Gen Your Last Console?
I said last last gen(meaning the ps2,gamecube,xbox) days were my final one, but peer pressure in high school forced me to get a PS3 lol(I just wish I got it BEFORE the christmas holidays instead of AFTER)
Now I'm undecided on if I want to upgrade to PS4/XB1 or not. I'm thinking maybe late 2015/early 2016 I'd possibly upgrade but even then I don't know.Especially after seeing types of reviews NHL15 on PS4/XB1 has gotten, how WWE seems like it might have been way overhyped, and how the prices in Canada have gone up $10 on all these games. All just depends on how much time I have cause of work and all, it's not like the "old days" where I'd be home from school by 4 and able to play games for an hour or two a day.Comment

Re: Is Last Gen Your Last Console?
Right now im pretty content with my ps3 but that's mostly because i don't have an internet option where i live unless you count dialup or satellite. I get tired of buying games that have game killing bugs in them and no way to update unless i lug it with me to a friends house or something. Next gen sounds way too reliable on having an internet connection. if i move then i might reconsider but right bow im sticking with what i got.Because I live in van down by the river...Comment

Re: Is Last Gen Your Last Console?
Besides your opinion on soccer and The Show, we are on the same wavelength. My problem is I'm looking at the PS4 bundle of the system and a digital copy ( I would prefer the physical copy) of NBA 2K15 for $350, I'm 50/50. I can't decide if I would play the PS4 enough to warrant the purchase especially since I've barely played my PS3 since the summer and weaned myself off video games. I'm trying to figure out if this is a sign that I need to focus on other things right now and pass on the PS4 or not. Decisions... decisions..Currently - yes, I'm sticking with 360 with no plans of upgrading. But that's open to change. Regardless of other factors, I'll be waiting on a price drop. Re: Is Last Gen Your Last Console?
How did I go this long without seeing this post?
Lots of good insight and opinion here, I'd like to add mine.
Last Gen might be my last console, IDK. I've spent the last 5 years building a library with my 360 and 3 of my favorite games are only available for 360. Not ready to part with it.
My 360 streams Hulu, Netflix etc still. I'm one of the last people under 50 that doesn't subscribe to cable or satellite so I'm not interested in what the XB1 can do in that department.
I have other things I'd like to spend $ on than an at least (for now) $350 console with few used games bargains let alone games I'm interested in.
We'll see.Comment

Re: Is Last Gen Your Last Console?
Agree with this. I popped in nba 2k11 randomly yesterday. I had been playing 2k15 the last week and barely noticed any improvement. The 2k11 played great and the presentation was just amazing. That's up to the game developers. Like you, I am mostly a sports gamer. Re: Is Last Gen Your Last Console?
barely noticed a difference. 2K on next gen consoles is easily the best looking sports game and best playing sports game. As great as last gen 2k was it does not compare to current gen. Graphics alone is 10x betterComment
