Re: Is Last Gen Your Last Console?

I love videogames. And I may be alone on this but I've had more fun on my PS4 than I've had in a long long time. A lot of that is playing with good friends on a weekly basis and (for me anyways) high quality games.

Are some games better on last gen? sure. But the experiences have been second to none for me this gen.

I'm more of a sports gamer than a gamer, but the PS4 is right up there with the original PS for me. The Show and Madden have both gotten better this gen, and nearly all my favorite games from the PS3 have made their way to the PS4 in some form or fashion.

I have zero regrets going from PS3 to PS4. It will be a tougher sell for me to go to PS5 when that time comes.

I love video games to but I also don't have the time I used to have to play being 27 still trying to get out on my own and still trying to find a better job. I also don't enjoy like any thing has much has I used to because I am always thinking about how I need to get out on my own and I also get tired of doing stuff by my self all the time and felling lonely. Need to find a GF lol. But any way I think ps3 was the best console ever made and so far I think ps4 has been a disappointment. To many games have been pushed back and not a lot of games impress me graphically any more. I don't know if it is because games graphically have gotten to the point where they are so good and because the jump is smaller then say going from ps1 to ps2 or what but I am just not impressed with graphics much any more. I fell like most games this gen only look slightly better then last gen. With that said I do think things are picking up though because Last guardian comes out this year and also early next year is Horizon.

I have a lot more games on Xbox 360, over 300 easily. I was a huge fan of XBLIGs, there were some very creative and original games there.

Oh well being that some of those games are ps1 and ps2 games that makes that less crazy. I thought you where saying you add 300 ps3 games.

Until we see The Show and Madden on the PS5, and again, do something visually or gameplay wise where we need to have it, lol.

See, that's exactly where I am! The Show pretty much sold me on buying a PS4, and I'm sure it will sell me on a Neo or whatever they end up calling it. Regardless of what I say, I will always want the best version of whatever sports game is out there.

Re: Is Last Gen Your Last Console?

Never say never, but this is probably the last console I purchase for myself.
              I barely game anymore.
I've always played more sports games than not, but over the past 5 years, the brands I've liked have disappeared and the ones that stayed have grown stale.

I no longer get to play my beloved MLB2K series, Fight Night and NHL2K are dead, and EA's NHL series has become stagnant.

It just seems like a great majority of games are simply reboots or follow the same roadmap of games before it.
There are some great originals out there, Last of Us and Batman Arkham Asylum for example. But too many games are retreads.

Absolutely not, yes I have some issues with console gaming but overall I love it and see it just getting better and better.

As long as they continue to release newer consoles, I'll continue to buy them.

I think I've had more fun currently on PS4 than I ever had on the 360. But it's close.

Yeah, this gen cycle is the first time I have actively sought out to play with other people (mostly other OSers) and it has made a huge difference. I mean, even with just you I can remember many laughs starting with Rocket League and going through to ESO, Division, BF etc, let alone all the other cool guys on OS that I have been able to game with. It has made a big difference for me.

I am definitely all-in on Pro and Scorpio, and after that I will just have to see where my life is at when the next wave hits.

Re: Is Last Gen Your Last Console?

Exclusives wise, PS3 for me was for Uncharted series, The Last of Us, 3D Dot Game Heroes and Dragon's Crown (also on Vita).

Last gen, I completed around 35 games total. This gen, im already at 30 or so three years in but the majority of those games have been multi-platform games. Exclusives wise, this gen has surpassed last gen for me with six exclusives (five on PS4 and one on Xbox One) and that number will increase before 2016 ends.

Here's the thing though, none of the exclusives that I have completed match let alone surpass when I first played Uncharted 2 and The Last of Us. Uncharted 4 is thus far and looks to be by default my 2016 game of the year but it's also my disappointment of the year thus far. Uncharted 4 is basically the same as the previous three games but with only one action set piece which while awesome and arguably the third best in the franchise, was still disappointing because to me, Uncharted 4 isn't what the series is known for. In a way, im happy it's done and hope it stays that way for at least a decade. The "pirate story" is honestly what saved the game for me.

Looking ahead, im hoping that Horizon wows me but im also pissed off that there's no mini-map which for an action/RPG nowadays makes no sense. I literally hate that compass crap at the top of the screen. Other than that, looks great and can't wait to play it and yes, im still pissed it was delayed to 2017. God of War IV looks awesome but my concern will be the same as it was with TLOU(R) and that's the companion AI. Days Gone is probably my most wanted of the three simply because it's combines Walking Dead (so to speak) with Sons of Anarchy. Hell yeah!!!

Until these other exclusives come out, if anything, the exclusives compared to last gen have been underwhelming and in some cases, disappointing.

For Xbox One, really hoping that Gears of War 4 is great. Forza Horizon 3 was excellent and until this Tuesday, Rise of the Tomb Raider is still the best "exclusive" on the console. Others have also been either a disappointment or underwhelming.

When you think about it, exclusives wise, both Xbox 360 and PS3 were better overall thus far in my opinion.
