Pssst. Between you and I... I really think she was just jealous that I've had a longer-running relationship with one game (All Pro Football 2K8) than we have been together.

E3 was memorable, for sure.. but for Playstation owners, it was straight garbage.

... my wife, who's never played a video game in her life, is now a monster lol. She has played The Witcher for 96 hours in the 28 days we've owned the console. That's about 3.5 hours per day, some Grade A addiction.

Re: Is Last Gen Your Last Console?

(I know this thread is 2+ months old, but big deal.) I'm not as big of a gamer nowadays like I used to be, but every now and again the mood will strike me and I'll play the heck out of my Xbox One. One of those moments is currently going on (NBA 2K16). I fear for the future, though, what with a career and eventual family taking up all my time, I can't imagine ever enjoying video games to the point I do or have. One of the biggest reasons I play nowadays is because I have an intense competitive appetite and gaming online is the perfect entree to whet the said appetite. If online, competitive gaming didn't exist, I would have quit gaming a long time ago (I do enjoy the occasional RPG, though... LOVE Fallout). I'm getting excited for Halo 5, but depressed at the same time. I miss the insane amount of time I used to have, where I'd just sit around, do nothing but game it up, eat pizza and have a grand time in my boxers. I can't do that now. Too many time constraints and I have to pretend to be responsible. ( )

My time management skills are atrocious!

I could say, "Hey (to myself), we'll play (so and so) for an hour and a half, and then [accomplish adult goal]". Boom. Four hours go by. "What the heck happened?!" Nothing... I just lose track of time. Professional goals conflict with my leisure desires, and it isn't pretty.

I discovered PC gaming last generation, so gaming is far from over for me, however I'll never buy a console again.

I'll be keeping my 360 for another year, at least. My 360 is like another child at this point. I've had the same one for 8 years.

I'm 41 and fully entrenched in the 'responsible, married adult with two kids' phase of life. This means that time and money are not bottomless buckets. One of my favorite past times over the past several years has been to build a catalog of the AAA titles at a fraction the cost.

Quite enjoyable to me to buy Skyrim for a few dollars and then look forward to playing it this fall. That's kind of how my gaming rolls, matching up a game with a season. As I said, I don't have gobs of time, so it's "Skyrim for fall 2015", then maybe Gears 2 and 3 over the winter.

I am in a similiar situation. And there are definitely some economic advantages to having patience when it comes to buying video games (and certainly easier for the offline crowd of which I am a part of).

I'm frugal now as well. I buy stuff on sale and not as often.

Honestly, right now Games with Gold and EA Access ( just signed up) are awesome. I'm playing Battlefield 4 (and now BF Hardline just came out) and will enjoy those for free (well, 30 bucks a year isn't bad for what you get).

Also, for sports games I can have a version of Madden to satisfy my football desires, but I never have the time to play a sports game enough to warrant purchase.

Fallout 4 I found some coupons for MS points and am getting that digitally (I'll play that for a long time). Otherwise not buying any new games for a while.

For the last few years, Black Friday has had good deals ($25) for the most of the current sports titles.

Yeah...I'm ok on those with the EA Access ones (and not a huge basketball guy, not since my Atari days )

I do usually get something at a great deal for 20ish bucks, but I'll probably hold off this year since I have a bit of a backlog as it is.

UPDATE: i went back to last gen for good.
                            back to the ps3
The ps4 was a pain and not much more enjoyable [The Witcher and The Show notwithstanding.]
its less stressful going back to the 3. plus i have like 80 games digitally that i can play and a hist of old sports titles.
i dont have the time anymore, nor the patience to deal with current gen.
I also get a bit stressed 'keeping up with the joneses'.

A nice weight was lifted off my mind this morning.
just thought i'd send out this postscript.

PS4 will be my last system for a while I think. Im pretty dismayed that theyre releasing new systems already, and that VR will not be as good on the stock system. I was always a pc guy, and this reaffirms it sadly.
