Re: Gaming Monitor discussion
I’m scouring the internet looking at YouTube trying to find the right settings. Initial thoughts are the colors don’t pop yet and I think it’s just me not knowing what the hell I’m doing yet. Gonna play with it more this evening and report back.
I did end up getting an open box with total coming out to $799 but today the price dropped $200 on it so was able to get another $120 off open box so I ended up paying roughly $680 for a $900 monitor at Best Buy. Not to shabby.

That's a steal if you end up liking it. Brand new, at this moment, it's $1,200 at Best Buy.

Gaming Monitor discussion
Just with the short time I’ve had the monitor, it has exceeded my expectations. Everything is really smooth and it has been nice to sit closer to the action as opposed to being 7-9 ft away from my 55” LG CX.
I’m still playing with the settings but I’m getting there. Colors where flat initially but I’m still tweaking the results are promising.
It’s not OLED quality but it’s pretty darn good for a 4K monitor. The blacks are lacking compared to the LG OLED. Other than that it’s a winner plus it’s on sale for $699 right now for those on the fence. Definitely worth it.

Weird. Sorry. Must’ve got mixed up somewhere. The original B&H link took me to the UltraGear 47.5" product page.

Re: Gaming Monitor discussion
After messing with the settings and watching numerous YouTube videos I just can’t the look that I’m going for. I loved almost everything except the flat colors.
Last night I packed it up and took it back to BB and swapped it for the LG C2 42” and what a difference. I have a CX 55” and this thing is beautiful. Colors pop out the box. I will need a little time to adjust to the size on my desk but the several extra $100 was worth it.

Re: Gaming Monitor discussion
Trying to figure out a monitor to get. Need one with at least 120 fps for PS5 and Series X. I have a monitor that’s like five years old. It was a 4K LG one many mentioned on here years ago. I want a C1/C2 tv, but I mostly play in a gaming room with a monitor so if I am going to buy something I’d rather go that route.Comment

Re: Gaming Monitor discussion
My job gave me two monitors to work from home with. But I only need one, and recently saw a Facebook post from this guy who used a monitor instead of a TV. Suddenly he could hit a 100 mph fastball in MLB The Show due to the lack of input lag.
So I decided to try it, since the pitches are most realistic when the pitch speed slider is set to 10. On my 4K Samsung, I couldn't do any higher than 7. But when I had it on this cheap monitor set at 10, suddenly those fastballs where I'd be lucky to foul off the other way were ending up smashing a window on Waveland Avenue.
Not just that, but switch to "Enlisted". Suddenly I'm the one getting my shot off first. Madden, suddenly Justin Fields is avoiding a sack and is hitting his receiver for a first down. FIFA, now my defender is sticking his foot in the way before the shot could get off.
So now when my wife will let me, I'll see about getting a real gaming monitor.Would the lady who left her nine kids at Wrigley Field please pick them up immediately? They are beating the Cubs 4-0 in the 7th inning!Comment

Re: Gaming Monitor discussion
Thinking about a new monitor. Keyword being MONITOR. I don't want a 42 inch OLED TV as a monitor. Been looking at the Samsung Odyssessy Neo G 7 & 8. Both are 32 inch 1000R curved with 2000HDR certification. Both have around 2,000 local dimming zones. Both are 4K. Only difference between the 2 is the G8 can do 240HZ and the G7 can do 165HZ. Oh both have HDMI 2.1 as well.
Strictly for PC gaming. I have OLED TVs for the consoles.Comment
