No issues with heating and flickering happens rarely but this is normal for VA with AS....Does not hamper my experience at all

Image quality superb and best response times next to TN and low input lag as well as blacks and contrast being class leading

So should we be looking for monitors that support HDMI 2.1 for the new systems?

Odyssey G9 is nuts, and now my x34 is the 'work monitor'.

Gaming PC in the corner (w/ a secondary 27" on an arm that's not on at the moment), work Macbook in the foreground. Cheap Westinghouse 40" on the wall.

I wouldn't have the work monitor up on the shelf it's on, but below it is all my networking equipment for the house (Unifi USG, Key, 24 port switch) that I intend to move/put into a rack and off my desk.

Nice Mestevo, too much screen for me though for gaming, but I would have so much **** on the screen otherwise.

The effect it has on some games is really interesting. Rocket League feels so much faster now because you have more context, like adding clouds to a scene in a movie to help show speed.

Other games, like Gunfire Reborn, I clearly need to get some new DPI settings together or something, because my aim is off and it's a game I'm usually really good at.

I'm wondering of Sea of Thieves might make me seasick, something that I usually don't have a problem with, but it did happen once on a trip to Hawaii (sitting backwards on a speeding boat at night when you can't really see a horizon will do that).

Some games it's just too much to take in, you have to kind of sit back a bit more.

HDMI 2.1 on a monitor for console is useless.

PS5 and Xbox SX will not be doing native 4k 120fps

As long as you can do 4k 60 that is all that matters with full chroma for hdr

HDMI 2.1 is only important for pc

Got ya. Trying to find a good monitor for my son. He’s buying himself a next gen system and wants a 4K monitor.

                    I’m like you. I don’t expect any ps5 or series x to run 4k 120fps at all.

Edit: I just noticed Dirt 5 and the new COD will be 4k 120fps on next gen consoles..

LG 27UL550-W 27 Inch 4K UHD IPS LED HDR Monitor with Radeon Freesync Technology and HDR 10, Silver https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07PX8JMJV..._2xDHFbEVQF4AH

Something like this would be perfectly fine for consoles. I had this monitor before and sold it. It’s terrible for HDR but if you’re doing SDR and 4k it’s good. It has free sync as well.

Edit: The 27UL500 is just as good without the swivel stand and on sale for $299

This is the monitor to get for console gaming and especially for series x as it has freesync and we do not yet know if PS5 will as well

There’s barely any difference in picture quality with the UL500 and the UL600. I owned them both at one point. They’re both garbage for HDR and the biggest difference is the stands. I personally wouldn’t spend the extra $120 for the UL600 for consoles.

So my G9 has a blue pixel, way off on the right so not typically in my direct field of view, hoping to try some of the 'fixes' to jog it and apparently it's good that it's blue instead of black (suggesting stuck instead of dead?)

Also the panel does an audible 'snap' from one side or the other, have read that this is normal because of warming/cooling plastic. In case it's actually static or something going to be redoing my cabling around the monitor later in the week anyways to hopefully help with that.

The UL500 has just 300 nits of brightness. The other has 350 and reports are it can be as high as 370 which is a big deal but might not be for many

The 600 also has lower input lag and has DP 1.4 unlike DP 1.2 on the 500

If you never plan to use PC on it then that last part dont matter

I thought they recalled the G9 due to having major issues?
