Re: Sony E3 2016 Discussion Thread (Press - 6/13)
I love Sony and Nintendo hate Microsoft they just make bad games and bad systems. Looking forward to hearing more about Horizon and the last guardian and also hoping the rumors about a excusive ps4 spiderman game are true. Spiderman and batman are my top 2 favorite super hero's and its time to get a great spiderman game again and if it is an excusive game that is not a movie tie in then it is more likely to be a great game. I don't like the whole ps4.5 thing think they should just wait in till ps5 and then have a more powerful system. If they do this I think it is a mistake and I will most likely end up waiting to get a ps5 when the time comes to make sure I don't miss out on a ps5.5 or something. But I am sure we will hear about the ps4.5 thing even though some rumors have said no. I would also love to have a second modnation racers game. The first one was great. It is like a much better version of Mario kart and would love to see a second one with bigger tracks, weather, day night cycles and more weapons. I heard the first one didn't sale to well so I don't know how likely that is though.Last edited by Smallville102001; 06-04-2016, 11:12 PM.Comment

Re: Sony E3 2016 Discussion Thread (Press - 6/13)
As far as PS4.5 being a mistake, I'd like to just state my opinion (just my point of view
For better or worse, I think incremental hardware upgrades for consoles are going to become the new normal. With the unified architecture making backwards compatibility a non-issue (at least how I understand it), I think it's going to become a new business model. I think it's going to become like PC gaming where you upgrade the graphics card every 2-3 years if you want to but don't necessarily have to to play the current games, just have to accept different levels of graphics performance. I guess you could compare it to cell phones
I think PS4.5 is coming, Xbox 1.5 (Neo, Scorpio, whatever they end up being being called) are coming. It's going to become a game of escalation. Neo will be the most powerful system, then Scorpio will be the most powerful system, then Sony takes the next step, rinse and repeat. Not so much about "waiting until PS5," just whatever the next step, and when you want to invest your money on the current model at the time.Last edited by The JareBear; 06-05-2016, 01:09 AM."Successful people do not celebrate in the adversity or misfortune of others."

Re: Sony E3 2016 Discussion Thread (Press - 6/13)
My response -
SpoilerThe problem is that I don't see Sony (or Microsoft) release an "upgradable" console with ports and whatnot. With a PC, you can simply remove one chipset and replace it. I don't see them doing that with consoles. I see them releasing an "upgraded" console itself every other year. In a span of four years, you could technically spend up to $1200 on the same console. Think about it. You buy a Neo in October for $400. You then buy Neo 2 in October 2018 for $400 and Neo 3 in October 2020 for $400. In a span of four years, you just spent $1200 on the same console. That's insane. A console generation is meant to last five years minimum and to spend triple in 80% of the time is a huge rip off. And if you're a multi-console owner, basically double it. That's $2400.
Someone who knows more about PC gaming than I do can correct me if needed but im pretty sure that you could have a PC that will be equal or better than what you would get between October 2016 and October 2020. Microsoft screwed up three years ago. I guess it's Sony's turn now. This isn't Wii U with 12m consoles sold in 3 1/2 years. No, this is PS4 with 40m+ in 2 1/2 years. PS4 is on pace to surpass PS2. This along with releasing PSVR is going to hurt the brand and their sales. First, oversaturation. Atari did it. Killed them. Sega did it. Killed them. Second, the huge possibility of alienating current PS4 owners especially those who just bought a PS4 this past holiday season. Imagine buying a console and in a year, it's basically obsolete. LOL. Third, the price is going to increase from the $350 price tag to $400.
Sony is taking a huge risk and gamble. What makes it even worse is that PS4 is dominating and we've all seen Uncharted 4. Console is NOT underpowered in any way. It's all on the developers to maximize and optimize their games as best as possible and it's up to the publishers to give them the appropriate time in order to do so.
Anyway, I didn't list Neo/PS4.5/PS4K in my predictions simply because the "upgrade" is minimal, won't be released until October and why Sony would want to shoot themselves in the foot by hurting console sales for four months isn't a smart business decision and will look even worse if the "upgraded" console idea backfires.
On a related note - With Microsoft rumored to be doing the same and showing Scorpio at E3 next Monday, what if they do.....and Sony not only doesn't show Neo but they then go ahead and actually cancel the idea if Microsoft gets nothing but negative feedback?
With Microsoft's press conference scheduled to end hours before Sony's press conference begins, any negative feedback on Scorpio would already be know via the internet so what if Sony was just playing Microsoft yet again???
Just a thought and for the record, I don't think either company will even mention let alone show Neo/Scorpio.Comment

Re: Sony E3 2016 Discussion Thread (Press - 6/13)
Expecting a lot from Sony this year, there was a lot of hand waving last E3 and the only meaningful releases since were Uncharted 4 and the Vue service.
Coasting a bit, time to put the pedal down. Strong showing and reason to buy Neo if all the rumors are true and some short term surprises / releases.Comment

I think you mean PS Now, the gaming rental program? Their TV service, Vue, is doing quite well.Comment
