Just cancelled my pre-order. I'm an impulse buyer and I had too long to think about it, lol.

For one I dont have a 4K TV yet (plan on buying one during the holiday sales)
Two, I already have a Xbox ONE that works just fine
Three, I just bought a home and could use that money toward something for the house.
Four, I want here more details about the PS4 Neo including the price and the release date. If I like the Neo and it comes out this year I may buy that and wait for the Scorpio but there's still a chance I may get an S this year, I will wait and see how things shape up.

Do you need a 4K TV to take advantage of the HDR feature? I don't plan on buying a 4K tv.

To ME.... Beauty of white is that it goes with everything just like black.

Waiting on the new hotness that will be the Rose Gold XBox, if we're using mobile phones as the basis of our discussion (Note that I own a rose gold 6P, because they were cheaper than the other ones and look just as good covered by a case. It also looks alright on it's own.)

I think people just like that it's different, it's not related to the specific color. Everyone was all over the black 360, because we've seen the white 360 for years and it's different. Even now, people still think the blue PlayStation 1 units that were used as debug models (both the lighter and darker blue) were awesome looking. Most likely because it's different than the old PlayStation models we all stared at for years.

We're also seeing MS (smartly) take advantage of this with the XBOne design your own controller. That's infinitely cooler.

As far as this system (One S) specifically goes... have they announced if it has a UHD drive definitively? I had only seen speculation after E3 but feel like I missed if they said yes or no themselves. I'm assuming it does?

Yes. HDR is a feature of specific 4k TVs. Not compatible with Dolby Vision though.

Yes the HDR is for 4K tv's

If you are not going to have a 4K tv then there is little reason to get the S unless you just want a slimmer console with no power brick and blue tooth controller.

Besides that there is nothing to gain. Scorpio on the other hand is worth it

Placeholders at retailers online show the 31st, though that likely isn't correct being a Wednesday. I don't think an actual date has been given yet.

I have the 2TB preordered through Target, and I just got an email update that the release date is August 2.

Im thinking about maybe getting a 4k tv for my office as my main 4k tv is owned and controlled 90% of the time by the wife. Right now I am gaming on a 27 inch ASUS monitor that works great but have been thinking of upgrading to 4k in my office.

Just curious to hear what others here would recommend.
