Re: PS VR

    First Impressions from someone playing Star Wars Squadron in PSVR if interested. The gameplay starts around the 6:00 mark. He does give us a pretty good look at what to expect. So far, it sounds good. Although he's using a DS4 controller it does look like the HOTUS 4 should be fine. If someone who's played Elite Dangerous in PC VR could give us a comparison since it looks similar. Lol

    Spoiler

    Edit: Well, before it was taken down the experience looked great thus far!

      Re: PS VR

      Sounds like the game is a hit. Especially, when they put their VR headsets on which elevates it to another level.

      Twinfinite

      Star Wars Squadrons is the most immersive and authentic Star Wars combat experience I’ve played. That immersion is increased 10-fold when you pop on a VR headset. The entire campaign and multiplayer can all be experienced in VR, and it honestly may be my favorite way to play the game. Even in online multiplayer skirmishes, I didn’t feel like I was at any disadvantage. Plus, you feel like you’re strapping on your helmet before hopping into the cockpit when you whack your headset on, further adding to the feeling that you’re really fighting back against the Empire… or crushing the New Republic.

      IGN

      Star Wars: Squadrons in VR with a HOTAS is just a phenomenal way to play. The fact that you can play this entire game in VR is just incredible, easily earning it a place as one of the best VR games available.

      Polygon

      Simply put, Star Wars: Squadrons is the total package. If all you have at your disposal is a console, a decent TV, and a working controller, you’re going to have a wonderful time. If you have a throttle, stick, and rudder pedals, you’re really in for a treat. And, if you happen to be able to afford VR, you may never want to take that headset off again.

      The Verge

      And of course, there’s the crown jewel of Squadrons’ immersion: comprehensive support for VR across the entire game (both single and multiplayer). While my own time with the game was limited by the technical abilities of the PlayStation VR and its outdated display, after playing a few missions of Squadrons in VR, it’s hard to imagine playing the game any other way.

      With my headset serving as a convincing replica of a starfighter helmet and the ability to look freely around my cockpit, VR doesn’t just make Squadrons look cooler — the expanded field of view actually helps in piloting.

        Re: PS VR

        Is this the final design for the new PSVR 2 Controllers, or is it one to compete with the original for vote? Latest design shows that they ditched the previous Sony style design for a new layout. It also shows the controllers are tracked via cameras on the headset instead of over/under TV.

        Just to keep things interesting, Oct 13 is PSVR's 4th birthday. On my way to try some SW Squadrons VR for 1st time now.

            I bet its a treat you lucky guy. Are you using a HOTAS or the Vive controllers?

            Played SW Squadrons in PSVR and I love it. For those looking to enrich the PSVR pixel and resolution look go to Settings > Brightness 30
            > Turn film grain to "Off"

              It doesn't support any vr controllers. I want to give hotas another shot, actually thought it was easier to control with a gamepad.

                  Noticed the headset got an update to version 5. Guess that's a clue.

                    If you're going to need your free Camera Adapter for your new shiny PS5 you need to register it with Sony and make an official request.

                      Just a quick follow up regarding the link above. If you encounter a problem message, go back, delete the last number from your vr serial number and click submit. Repeat it again and again until the shipment address window appears. Similar to other links that may receive multiple requests.

                      November's PlayStation Plus Collection has Resident Evil 7 biohazard as part of an impressive lineup for PS4 and PS5 PS+ owners being offered for free. I still feel that game is one of the best VR games out there to play if you haven't.

                        No need to let you know how disappointing recent developing news has been. I get it that a new unit is going to be expensive and with the new console systems releasing, dollars will be in short supply. UploadVR's Editorial pretty much explains how I feel at the moment. Whether I wait for 2022 is another question. However, I am starting to eye the HP's Reverb G2 VR headset and or other new headsets that may get introduced. Sony needs to be more transparent in their communication to us which is lacking at the moment. They sit silent while their competitors are putting out new headsets to look at.

                        Kudos to Hello Games to include the PS4 VR version free towards the purchase of a PS5 Version upgrade. I know we don't get any of the visual benefits for VR but for those who like to play it in both versions will like the new PS5 4k 60fps visuals;

                          Sure looks more and more like whatever PS5 boost you get with your VR PS4 games is going to be up to the devs. London Studios is confirming the following;

Higher resolution

Fire Higher framerate (up to 90 fps)

Fire Highest detail assets used at all times

Fire Improved texture details

                          …this is across the whole game, as well as all our FREE DLC!

                              OMG. Just got the PS4 camera adapter but this requires a USB port. The PSVR box requires a USB port. My external HDD for PS4 games requires a USB. That’s 3 already and that is an issue for charging cords and wireless headset dongles. PSVR users are going to have to constantly unplug things when switching back and forth.

                              Would a USB splitter work for at least the camera and PSVR box? PS5 does have 3 ports plus a C port but man.

                                Last I read just the HDD should be directly connected, otherwise a USB hub should be fine.

                                Edit: here's a discussion on Reddit about it https://www.reddit.com/r/PSVR/commen...nto_a_usb_hub/
                                ' I've got a 4TB drive connected directly, and a hub. The hub has the DS4 cable, two moves cables, PSVR cable, occasionally a USB stick, and as of a few days ago, a T150 wheel. It's all working fine.

                                I have a powered hub. No idea if you need the power or not.'
