I would love for you to be right. Getting a premium headset and controllers the likes of the VIVE Pro Series for $500 would be golden.

nDreams recent vr announcement is good news for eventual AAA games coming to the PSVR2.

We’re incredibly excited to announce the formation of nDreams Studio Elevation, headed up by long-standing nDreams senior creative and the originator of the Phantom: Covert Ops concept, Glenn Brace.

The studio will focus on creating AAA and core VR gaming experiences and will offer a hybrid work model by being remote first (with plans to eventually open a UK-located HQ as a space for in-person collaboration).

        Some Up-To-Date info regarding Apple's AR/VR headsets

Apple is working on at least two AR projects that include an augmented reality headset set to be released in late 2022 or 2023 followed by a sleeker pair of augmented reality glasses coming at a later date. The two projects have caused some confusion over what's coming when, but it's now clear that an AR/VR (or mixed reality) headset will be released, followed by augmented reality glasses.

Rumors initially suggested that Apple's AR/VR headset would come out at some point in 2022, perhaps at WWDC in June, but there are development issues that Apple needs to overcome. At this point, it's looking like we won't see the AR/VR headset until late 2022 or 2023.

Reliable sources like Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo and Bloomberg's Mark Gurman have indicated that the headset will likely see a 2023 launch date, with the glasses to follow in 2024 or 2025.

The AR/VR headset that Apple has in the works will be a standalone device with powerful A-series processors that will put performance on par with Apple's Macs. It will have two chips inside that will allow it to perform complex tasks and handle the virtual reality capabilities, plus it will be able to operate independently of an iPhone or a Mac.

Apple Vision Pro is Apple's first wearable headset device, offering a mixed reality experience. Vision Pro is priced starting at $3,499, and...

          Re: PS VR

According to Ross Young, Display Supply Chain Consultants (DSCC), the new PSVR2 headset will provide the highest graphic fidelity than any other competitor.

Sony's next headset, PlayStation VR2 , will feature the densest pixel-dense display of any other VR device. Or so the latest report from Display Supply Chain Consultants (DSCC) states. In his weekly report Ross Young , CEO of DSCC , says the display will feature a pixel density greater than 800 PPI (pixels per inch) for each eye. A technical fact that can be translated as: Sony will be able to provide the highest graphic fidelity than any other competitor . After all, just think that the first PS VR had a density of only 386 PPI overall (i.e. both eyes) and therefore of 193 PPI per single eye. Therefore the new headset will quadruple graphics performance.

Young also reports that PlayStation VR 2 will feature a 2000 x 2040 resolution per eye , while its biggest competitor, Oculus Quest 2, currently only comes in at 1832 x 1920 per eye. In addition, the PPI density is also lower for Quest 2 (around 200-300 PPI per eye).

Finally, we know that Sony is focusing a lot on eye-tracking . This technology ensures that visual content is always rendered in whatever direction the player looks. PlayStation VR 2 could open the doors to a new era for virtual reality headsets.

VRCompare has the expected PPD on PSVR at around 20.5, but need more data to confirm, here that is compared to others, below. Screen door effect has never really bothered me, but it was apparent in the Vive. Largely unnoticeable in the Quest 2. With the original PSVR it was the nicest screen I'd seen at the time.

Yeah, the HTC Vive Pro 2 is the top headset that also offers 5K resolution. I can't see Sony trying to match this or even surpass it while trying to keep costs down. Kudos if they can but doubtful.

Yeah, the Vive Pro 2 is that example of 'look, they could have shoved even more expensive hardware in this headset but they drew a line' and provides some hope that costs were kept down a little as a result.
