    Was talking to a friend about it earlier today (I'm obviously pessimistic about their platform / approach) and given costs, supply issues that are expected to continue in 2022 among other factors that it could make more sense for an indefinite delay (penciling it in as a PS6 peripheral) rather than doing it now. The concern is that if they're not successful it could go the way of the Vita - leading to Sony leaving the VR space entirely like they did with mobile gaming, IPTV, etc.

    In 5-7 years, all the involved tech (I don't see a need to ever push much higher resolutions than the 2k-4k/eye) would be much cheaper (this is also a weak point because everything will be cheaper in 5-7y...), and with the medium being 'mainstream' content and content creation would be much easier to come by in addition to their first party stuff.

    I'm sure they're probably too invested at this point, but ultimately I don't want to see them Vita another product, especially in a medium I enjoy like VR. We all win with more players.

    I'm sure they're concerned about number of PS5 units sold, parts, and logistics. I still think they're going to release it despite these concerns because if they want to be relevant in the AR/VR field then they need to join the party. Developers are no longer creating for PSVR. Capcom's Resident Evil Village is supposedly with the VR exclusive and there are other AAA titles rumored for the launch. It would be criminal for them to forgo this while VR/AR is hot;

    Spoiler

    By leaving current PSVR players (5M) holding the bag with nothing would be even more damaging I believe. I do think they'll hit 25M PS5 units by next winter which should at least give them a strong base to start. It's the chips and logistics that seems to be the main issues, and it's looking like they're working on that chip issues at the moment which seems to be in the works.

      Won't be much releases moving into the new year but maybe for some current games that may get a PS VR support mode and some surprise announcements. Maybe we'll hear news regarding the free VR games for PS+ members as well as progress for the delays of "After The Fall" for the State of Play?

        Just wondering why not mention it during the State of Play but your 3 November PS+ games are some big name bonus offerings; The Persistence, The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners – Standard Edition, and Until You Fall.

                    I feel those early reports that Quest 2 is selling like hot cakes compared to PSVR are true. With the supply issues of the consoles during this holiday season and the price tags of the Quest2 unit compared to the PSVR, I'm sure those estimates will go even higher. Sony needs to do some unveiling quickly.

                        So what do you think, $799 for a bundle including controllers? Maybe +/- $100?

                        Not announcing backward compatibility out of the gate has some kinda concerned too.

                        Marketing has a lot of work to do.

                            I would bet it’s $400 or $500. Can’t be too much more than a Quest 2.

                              I don't believe we can truly compare this to the Quest 2. Oculus uses Oculus Insight Technology while PSVR will be using the newer technology Eye-Tracking. A similar technology currently used by the HTC Vive which a more comparable set. The higher ends are over a grand so a $700 deal maybe a goal to shoot for. The Quest 2 as convenient as it is, doesn't really belong in the same class with PSVR2s specs.

                              In order to play the current PSVR games on 2, the labs are going to have to recode the new controllers as well as other necessary changes which I could see as middle offerings after the launch titles.

                                If Sony releases a $700 headset that’s required to also own a $400-500 console then it’s DOA. No way it’s more than $500.
