Re: Sony PlayStation Meeting Discussion Thread

If either release this week, I'm in. I miss the ps4. I'll keep the x1s, each access and games with gold is a no Brainer, but I need the ease of sharing and snappiness of the dash, etc. X1 lacks in those regards.

No chance the NEO releases that quick, they have to get them in stores and that's not enough time, people would have snapped a pic by now. 2 weeks minimum. There's a chance the slim could release that quick, a slim chance , but I still think we would have seen leaks by now.

Plus, what games are they going to use to sell NEO? Next game that could even be a possibility is probably Titanfall 2 at the end of October. Next tentpole PS4 release was delayed to February (Horizon Zero Dawn), coincidence?

I'm hoping we can pre order the PSVR after this event since its "sold out" everywhere.

Slim????? Don't you mean NEO on September 27th??? LOL. And if you have cash burning a hold in your pocket, feel free to contribute to the DAN fund. Every contribution gives you 100% uncensored access to my wild rumors and speculation theories. LMFAO!!!

          Sorry bud, I couldn't resist.

          I say 300 for 1tb

Also NEO specs will be what they are but I feel they will push back NEO till around March and at that point the specs might improve but if released this month or next there is no way they improve it enough to make it relevant vs Scorpio

I still feel brand name is a big plus though

Well the leaks were official documents and to give sony credit for them releasing those leaks on purpose is far stretched. Actual devs have stated those specs are true and they all have received the kits so for that to be changed recently would have been leaked already. They might improve the cpu but it will have to be delayed till next year to do much more

If Scorpio does what they claim then neo is far beyond that level. We know how it hurt xbox one this time vs ps4 and that difference was minimal

Sony has the brand advantage but in due time people are going to want to get Scorpio performance IF they deliver

Also the price of 400 to 450 is even more of a reason that they did not improve it

Some people have reported today that some devs are warning that if you think Sony improved performance from leaks they will be highly dissapointed
Reason I predicted that the 2TB model will be only $300 is so they can have a $200 difference between the 2TB Slim and the 2TB Neo. Also, Sony obviously buys the hard drives in bulk so the savings they gain can be passed on to the consumer and since the Slim is expected to sell like hot cakes, Sony can afford to take a short term minimal loss for long term gain.

Sony doesn't need to make NEO relevant in regards to Scorpio simply because I believe that Scorpio will be the start of a new generation for Microsoft. Sony doesn't need to nor should they do the same.

The leaked specs is good enough for me. I rather see NEO at $400 with the leaked specs as opposed to $500 for a little more and a delay. No chance in hell that NEO gets pushed to 2017 as that would defeat the entire purpose of the PlayStation Meeting on Wednesday as they sure as hell would not hold this event just to showcase a slim model. Also, the October 1st mandatory requirement that every game must have a base mode and a NEO mode is still in affect. If Sony was going to push back NEO to 2017, this meeting wouldn't be happening and they would also push back the October 1st mandate for all games. NEO will get released by the end of October at the latest.

Its been a while since Deep down was shown. Could we maybe see it at the meeting on the NEO?
Uncharted 4 to me is pretty much the lone guarantee. It's PlayStation exclusive, one of Sony's top tier franchises from their best development studio and is only four months since it was released. With no top tier exclusives scheduled to be released this holiday season, Sony can market Uncharted 4 like they were going to a year ago before it was delayed. I truly don't see any other games (comparisons) being shown. The meeting has been rumored to be two hours long but im going to guess just under/over an hour ala E3 2016. Sony will come out, give everyone the details, info and not let it drag out which would possibly deflate the revealing. Better to keep it short and to the point.

Highly unlikely that Deep Down is shown Wednesday. If it still exists and Capcom has actually made progress with it and plan to show it, the Tokyo Game Show next week would be your best chance to see it re-revealed.

If Sony has any extra PSVR units for the rest of this year, I would think that they would hold them until Black Weekend and can only be purchased in stores. If not, then you're probably looking at early 2017.

Yeah I guess I could see how UC4 would be a likely pick for sure. It is the flagship for the system right now, arguably.

Showing console gamers a Fallout 4 that matches a good PC setup would be nice too.

Gran Turismo Sport could have been very likely but with it being delayed, it wouldn't make much sense to showcase a game that's a minimum of six months away. The Last Guardian isn't going to look that much better than what it already looks like. Those are/were the two Holiday games for Sony this year but to be perfectly honest, showcasing Uncharted 4 (especially since it's the finale of the series) is probably the easiest prediction to make for various reasons.

Has PlayStation 4 received MODS yet for Fallout 4? Either way, I don't see Sony showing any multi-platform game to showcase NEO with the lone exception of me predicting Rockstar Games showing Red Dead Revolution.

Sorry but I don't believe for a minute that Scorpio isn't/won't be Microsoft's fourth console and the start of the ninth generation. I believe that Scorpio will be fully backwards compatible with all Xbox One games and require no emulation but with the kind of power and specs that Microsoft bragged about at E3, it would be a total and complete waste of a console if all the Scorpio games are held back by the Xbox One and Xbox One Slim. Unlike NEO, I easily see Scorpio having exclusive games that won't be available on Xbox One and Xbox One Slim. Having games be cross-gen between Scorpio and the Xbox One / Slim would completely defeat the point and purpose of Scorpio. What would be the point in having the most powerful console if it's held back by Xbox One and Slim? All the power would be a moot point and such a waste.

It's really just splitting hairs at this point. The "gen" days are most likely all but over if console updates like this become the norm. We can call it a new gen, or we can call it a continuation of the current gen, but either way we're getting systems that outperform what are currently available on store shelves.

Yeah I dont know if we are going to get mid gen kind of upgrades like this from now on or what but it sounds like Scorpio is more like a new gen then NEO because it sounds like NEO is going to be about 2 times the power of ps4 where Scorpio is going to be like 5 times the power of the xboxone. That sounds more like a gen when it comes to the difference. I think ps4 was 5 times more powerful then ps3 was.

All the major players are releasing a new console in the span of 12 months, it's a new 'generation'. Hopefully all subsequent generations are just as confusing due to the lack of the usual disadvantages that are missing for this one like re-shuffling and fragmentation of the user base and a software library reset. Only Nintendo is on track to continue those traditions based on rumors, but they're just now coming around to the Internet being a thing a la the PS3/360 days so maybe they'll get there one day.

Agree the definition is absolutely splitting hairs, but it is what it is.

                            You're right.

The switch to x86 architecture basically made "backwards compatibility" a thing of the past. That really doesn't need to be an issue anymore. I imagine that as long as Sony and MS stick with the same type of OS for their machines that any game could be "cross platform" or "cross gen," whatever you wanna call it. They are basically like little PCs, as many have pointed out. One console can run the game at High/Ultra, the other at Low/Medium.

Specs do not mean new gen. PC has no new gen...What console have you bought in the past that is backwards and forward compatiable?

MS has stated there will be NO exclusives to Scorpio except for VR....This is from their mouths because in their eyes they are not leaving anyone behind...More evidence of this is that they no longer will have exclusives as they all will be on PC going forward as well for the most part

NEO is just an extension for Sony this gen...Improve specs and all

There will not be another MS console released that is a new gen...Those days are over...

I fully expect Scorpio to be a console that can be modified with parts because MS bottom line is that they want their fans to be pc fans...That is where they see most revenue...

                              Just wait and see
