I'm very happy with the art style of Zelda. I love the use of the cell shading. I get enough of the photo realistic games from PS4 and Xbox One. And you know what? In the end, it's all about the game play. Sure, the visuals can certainly enhance the experience, but if a game is good, then it simply does not matter. And BOTW is very very good. I'm enjoying the vibrant colors of this game, something that we don't see from the majority of FPS or third person games.

We also picked up the Pro controller yesterday. It's more than I wanted to pay, but it's so incredibly nice and form fitting. And the battery life on it is nothing short of outstanding.

Should receive the Pro controller tomorrow. Still waiting for the Switch console to become available at Best Buy again since I missed out on it this past Friday but it's all good. Won't be playing Zelda until May at the earliest anyway so im not really in a rush. It's more about having one just so I know I have it when the exclusives come out that I want to play. Thus far, those exclusives are Zelda, Mario and Project Octopath Traveler.

As for Zelda, it looks great for it's art style and direction. However, when compared to a realistic looking game such as Horizon Zero Dawn (which is easily the best looking game this gen), Ghost Recon Wildlands and Forza Horizon 3 which all run in 4K with HDR, im sure people can understand why some gamers are complaining.

Personally, I prefer the realistic looking games over what Zelda looks like simply because im not a kid anymore. I prefer my games to look realistic. And when you own a good 4K HDR TV, you want just that.

To know that Zelda runs BETTER on the handheld in 720P than it does when docked in 900P is not only disappointing, it's insulting and a joke especially when you can imagine what Zelda should have been...below video is running off a Wii U console in 1080P and was from E3 2011. The below video is what I want Zelda to look like. Nintendo can do it if they wanted to. They simply choose not to which is a shame in my opinion. Reason I bring this up is because it DOES affect the GAMEPLAY. When you have slowdown, bad frame rates, bad frame pacing, input lag and bad response time due to the bad frame rate, that directly affects gameplay.

With all of that said, im still buying a Switch but I know what I'll be playing on it. The exclusives and snes/n64 virtual console games.

Zelda looks great for what it is but some gamers (such as myself) prefer the realistic style over Zelda's art style. Think of it as how you don't like playing as a female character in games. It's all about personal preference.

I know I've been there. But you should know by now that Nintendo doesn't care what Sony and Microsoft are doing. They never have. But I'm sure they are devastated that you are skipping out

I know you're sort of joking about it but if Nintendo can't sell this to me and people like me who are gamers, who are long time fans and have significant expendable income then they have a problem.

Also, I am ok if they don't discount it so long as they just make the overall value of it better, maybe a Mario Kart and some other game in a bundle of something. Or have an edition with the Pro Controller for a "limited time"...

And yeah know that they don't directly try to compete with the other two but they really will have to do something during the holidays because you know the other guys will.

Not trying to compete with Sony and Microsoft is one thing but being stupid about how consumers perceive the product and it's value, or lack of, is another...

Your loss, not theirs. Nintendo has more than enough money in the bank to run at a loss (even a loss of 250 million) for like 40 years.



If you can't afford it, that's one thing. Not everyone can.



If you're being stubborn and just saying "others give deals why can't they" well, hey go ahead and cut yourself off from what will be some fantastic games. There's no reason to buy one right now anyways, unless you're a big Zelda and/or open world game fan so just wait and let the library pad itself out over the coming months.



I wouldn't count on a sale any time soon. Maybe in a year or two, but even then that's iffy.

The power of the consumer my friend can make this system the last piece of hardware Nintendo makes. Not one. Not just me but many.

No, money is no problem here, I could buy one today, but I'm not throwing good money after bad. Nintendo has to make more of an effort after the failure of the Wii U, something to show that they fully plan to make this console a success.

The better deal I'm waiting for is not about me saving $50 but it's about me seeing if Nintendo really is going to make this console a winner or not. The Wii U was a huge failure and yes Nintendo can bleed money but they have shareholders and they won't do it long term. Something has got to give.

I got burnt by the Wii U so yes I'm holding out hopes that Nintendo gets it together but some of you guys excusing their failures and acting as if the people in this thread who don't believe this looks like a good but yet is kind of comical.

Of all the people who should hope Nintendo does try to court consumers, win a viable market share and do better this time than they did with the Wii U it should be those of you who have already bought one..

Don't try to paint me as the bad guy here, I'm trying to actually look for a reason to buy a system, but if Nintendo buys into the nonsense you guys seem to believe then it's not going to be good for them.

I wouldn't babble with such conviction about which one is better if I hadn't played one of them.....simply because it's on a PS and the protagonist is a girl.

I have both Zelda and HZD. Love them both, as they both are incredible masterpieces. That being said. I prefer Zelda and actually think Zelda looks better. HZD is jaw dropping visually but the style of Zelda just makes me scream "video games". I know that sounds weird but I'm just happy I can play both and not have to choose one or the other.

I can disagree too based on personal preference as well. You can call me a Ubisoft fanboy and I'll agree 100% but in no way, shape or form am I a Sony fanboy. Not even close.

I don't hate Nintendo, Zelda or the Switch. If I did, I wouldn't be buying the console as well as Zelda.

As for reviews, you mean critic reviews? Those are a joke. NO GAME EVER, past, present or future should ever be reviewed a 10/10 simply because NO GAME is perfect. I personally have never gone past a 9.5/10 for all the games that I have completed and going past a 9/10 is rare for me.

Back to critics, there are four franchises that get a pass no matter what. Mario, Zelda, GTA and MGS. This is a fact. GTA IV is the worst in the franchise yet it's the highest rated game of the franchise. MGS V is nowhere near the original MGS or MGS 3 yet it's the highest rated game in the franchise. They all get a pass with all the negatives in those franchises being completely ignored by those who love and defend those games. Those are the true fanboys.

Zelda's frame rate issues and the fact that the majority here who are playing the game are saying that it runs better on a handheld and can't even handle a solid 30FPS at 900P when docked tells me that the game is no way, shape or form a perfect 10. How can it be? After all, it already has a flaw which affects gameplay.

As for me, I'll be playing Zelda where as you don't want to play Horizon because of the lead character being a female which makes no sense to me. Have you played Tomb Raider or Rise of the Tomb Raider?

Bottom line is that im playing one now and the other in May. In other words, im playing both. Honestly, you should too simply because they're both great games. Perfect? Not even close. Great? Yes.

You can't say that on one hand, and then on the other hand say reviews don't know what they are talking about because Overwatch got really high scores (rightfully so, as well.)

Horizon and Zelda are both amazing games. They serve different purposes though. Zelda is an exploration-based open world game. Horizon is a story-based open world game. Horizon wouldn't work with Zelda's mechanics because the story wouldn't get delivered in a good way. Zelda wouldn't work with Horizon mechanics because it's too guided of an experience (due to the story needed to being delivered.)

Two sides of the same coin, both amazing and worthy of any praise thrown their way.

Same boat I'm in. Give me a gorgeous stylized game every day of the week over a game going for hyper-realism. I also can tell you which one will age better, because there is no question about that. I'm glad I have both to play, though.

I think the visual head-to-head comparison between Horizon and Zelda comes down to whether you prefer art direction (Zelda) over image quality (horizon). They are both clearly outstanding in their own ways.

Either way it's awesome we have such amazing games to play right now, and more coming
