Not sure he article backs up the headline, but neither are a surprise. Very different device, and third party support will be tested early.

EA says their support of the Switch will be limited to 'one of their most popular titles' but won't say which yet.

So probably Madden or Fifa, and not line-wide support, at least not initially. That's disappointing.

I think it's equally disappointing and encouraging in respect to them otherwise just saying the corporate line of "the hardware can't support our games" crap. At least they are open to exploring how the Switch will perform

If they do Madden and the switch takes off pretty good and people realize they can take a AAA title like Madden on the go with very little trade off that can be a change gamer for Nintendo in a market space that is currently non existent for them

Yea I think if the game (whether it be Madden or FIFA, my guess is FIFA due to the worldwide appeal) they choose does well it could lead to them adding more games in down the line. But it's definitely disappointing for right now.

Has there been anything about Frostbite supporting Switch? If no, that'd probably angle things toward something like PvZ.

I'm the opposite. I could care less about the tablet qualities. I'm looking forward to a Nintendo console with much more standard input controls. Lose the waggle. Lose the touch. Suddenly, I'm playing Zelda, Mario, and a bunch of other games again.

I'm fine with the portable stuff, but all I really want is my old school Nintendo back.If they give me that, I'm probably buying day one, even though it will serve as my secondary console.

I do like the mix personally. For kids they love portable, so that's huge. I'd like being able to own one Nintendo system and get all the games. I'm not buying a portable only system anymore, that just doesn't get the game time now.

I need to really hear more about this though...looking forward to January to get full details.

Report: Mario & Skyrim Switch at Launch, Splatoon Pack In

In Switch-specific news, we have been told that the Mario game shown in the Switch reveal trailer is planned as Switch release day title in all territories.
The title will apparently feature a 3D open world hub from which different worlds can be selected, with multiple objectives to complete in each, much like Mario 64 or Mario Galaxy. This may seem obvious, but we share this information to specify that this will not be a Super Mario 3D World-style game where the action is in 3D, but each stage is a linear path designed to be completed a single time.

The multiplayer teased in the trailer will be a co-op version of the main game, with both players able to work together toward objectives, but with a form of tether to keep the players from going too far from each other. Player two’s gameplay will not hold player one back from progress, but player two can be the one to complete an objective and be shown as receiving the level end reward. A screen will then show how much of the progress toward that success was down to each player, like how many red coins each player collected in a red coin stage.
We have also heard that the current plan is for the more expensive Switch SKU (stock keeping unit) to come bundled with a new version of Splatoon. A big part of the push for this will be a 1 vs 1 mode where two players on separate Switches can fight over a map, switching their weapon of choice at will mid-game. Nintendo expects the short match nature of Splatoon to translate well to handheld multiplayer, in that players need only commit a few minutes to a full multiplayer match.

There are also plans to add additional single player content to the game, and for the Switch version of the game to have a similar free content output schedule to the one the Wii U version of the game enjoyed.
Also, that Skyrim port Bethesda refuse to confirm is real is totally happening. We’ve heard it’s planned to be a launch day release for the system, to mirror the recent remastered version of the game, and to allow mods at some time post-launch. Mod support for Skyrim will not be there from day one, and much like the PS4 will be limited to mods made using existing in-game assets.

Eurogamer has reported the same for Mario.

The question, then, is what big first-party title will now spearhead the Switch's launch. We've heard the console's new Mario will be ready in time to fill this role.

A 3D Mario would be enough for me at launch depending on the price.

Mod support for Skyrim...this is getting me more hyped for this. Still probably not going to get at launch. But more likely to get at BF next year.

Mario sounds great. Exactly what I want. If only it had online co-op. But I already know the answer to that...

The Zelda coming out several months after launch, is that the same Zelda that's releasing on the Wii U at the same time?
