Also, they missed a huge opportunity to debut the Switch with Will Smith's "Switch."

Compare how cheap it is for you, yourself, to buy SD cards in bulk. Now imagine having business deals in place. The cost isn't much higher than discs.

I'm all for games moving away from the terrible disc format when there are much better options out there.

So do you expect the 50+ gig NBA2k17 to ship on a cartridge with the same amount of audio assets at the same quality on NX?

This looks very interesting. I haven't owned a Nintendo console since the Gamecube because I didn't care for the Wii gimmick(s). Hopefully Nintendo has turned the corner on gimmicks.

No, I expect them to learn how to compress things properly to make it fit.

It's the same when console games come to PC, you can tell which games are from console developers because their compression is terrible and you wind up with 60+ GB downloads.

You're also acting like 64GB cards are something that don't exist in great quantity.

Re: Nintendo Switch Announced, Scheduled to Release March 2017

According to the rumored specs, 32GB is the maximum which can't possibly be true. The SD cards being used could also increase cost for the publishers if they're required to purchase them from Nintendo like they were back in the NES/SNES/N64 eras. Another rumor is that the memory is only 4GB which is also low and hopefully not true.

Watching the almost 4 minute commercial for the Switch (horrible name by the way), I have realized that the console is just another portable with the ability to play the games on your TV. Think if Vita had an HDMI out port. That's basically what Switch appears to be.

Nintendo said that Switch is a "home console" first and foremost. LOL. Yeah, except for the simple fact that outside of the beginning of the commercial, the entire ad is showing people playing the damn thing everywhere but at home on a TV.

Sadly, just another gimmick that will bomb in sales (even though I do think that it will surpass Wii U but that's also not saying much either) which will lead to third parties abandoning Nintendo and Switch which will lead to yet another generation where Nintendo simply doesn't get it.

Another rumor is the price of the unit will be $430. Of course, majority believe that this is just a placeholder by Tesco as I would be shocked if it's more than $300 at launch. Anything more than that and the console will be dead on arrival. Even at $300, compared to Xbox One Slim, is pushing it.

Next week should be very interesting when Nintendo holds their Investor Meeting.

Gimmicky or not a portable all in one system is very appealing to me. Judging by the overly positive response I don't seem to be alone.

Nintendo Switch Announced, Scheduled to Release March 2017

For this to really be a hit it needs to be $199

I'd say the middle of the two, $249 would be perfect.

If they can find a way to make sure AAA titles are released on it on the regular, and not one Mario game every 6-months, I may purchase.
Price point is huge though. If it's well above $300, then no. But at $299 I'd be tempted to dive in.

But all the latest sports games need to be on there and have the same features as current gen. I won't take a major dip in graphics either.
And games like Red Dead 2 need to be on there too. If not, no buy.

I think it's funny when people say Nintendo delivers us first party games like no one else can. No. They deliver us the SAME first party games that they always do. Mario, zelda, metroid, and more Mario (Mario kart). The only game they did last Gen any good was that splatoon game. When it comes to first party games let's be real that's Sony's bread and butter and no one's even close to making new innovative games like they do. With All of this negative comment said, that new Zelda game does look really really good. But I won't be buying a system for one game.

All in on this...BUT cautiously. I'm sure I'll reserve as soon as I can but will pay close attention to time frame of title releases.

Nintendo's 1st party titles are the main thing for me. Could care less really about games I can get on other consoles. I get Nintendo for their stellar 1st party titles. They just need to bring them out more frequently... Better see an Animal Crossing game sooner rather than later
